We all felt, at least once, that our problems have become big and heavy as dinosaurs. To overcome this deceiver proportion, I think it helps to lift our eyes to the sky. “Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us” said the great Carl Sagan.
While this is a big perspective, there’s also the small one, equally beautiful. Using our eyes or adding a lens for details, we can take a look at the universe beneath our feet, in grandma’s backyard or the city park. It abounds in life, colorful, diverse, complex, fascinating life.

JUMPY JUMPER... I adore the jumping spiders. So stinkin cute and smart. They travel and hunt their food. I loves them so much.
I agree! I'm not much of a spider person....they're too darn fast and too many legs, but jumping spiders are totally cute! The only spiders I'll actually hold.
Load More Replies...“I almost wish we were butterflies and liv'd but three summer days - three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain.” (John Keats)
Spiders spinning their clever webs, watching for prey with robot-like eyes, eating it unhurried, exploring.
Ants are always on the run.
My god I love these guys. Robber Fly. When I was little, and one would find me, it would follow me for about a block before getting bored. I used to have wonderful conversations with them.
I remember catching grasshoppers as a child. It was fun to chase them and catch them, but it wasn’t interesting the way catching a frog or lizard or snake was interesting, so I always just tossed them back into the field.
Blurg... I hate these guys. always sucking the life out of my strawberry plants. It's a good thing my aphid lions (ladybug larva) live all around me in the Rhododendrons. :D
Very nice photos!! Arthropods (and the mollusks) are fascinating creatures and I absolutely love it! After taking entomology a few years back, I'm always interested in learning more about them. Arachnids, Lepidopterans (Butterflies/Moths), and Odonates (Dragonflies/Damselflies) are my absolute favorites.
