Model Haggles For A Free Photoshoot, Photographer Agrees, But This Choosing Beggar Decides It’s Not Enough
Freelancers and people working in the creative industry know this type of people all too well—the choosing beggars. They will try to manipulate people into giving them things for free and then some, without offering anything in return at all. “But it will be good for you!” they’ll say. “It’s free exposure!” they might even add. All in all, these choosing beggars really know how to waste somebody’s time.
Recently, one Reddit user shared a mildly infuriating chat between a photographer and a model who was hoping to get a photoshoot for free. Being an understanding person, the photographer offered a trade for her, which apparently wasn’t good enough for the said model. Scroll down below to read the chat that was shared on the subreddit r/ChoosingBeggars and tell us what you think in the comments down below!

Recently, one message exchange between a photographer and a model went viral

Some say that “beggars can’t be choosers,” but one quick scroll through the popular subreddit r/ChoosingBeggars proves otherwise. The sense of entitlement that some people possess is beyond us, as it is hard to grasp why some people believe that they deserve to get stuff for free merely because they think so.
In them, one entitled model was asking for a collaboration, but her terms weren’t very fair

Initially, the model suggested to the photographer that they do a collaboration together, and apparently she was looking for something that she “wouldn’t have to pay for.” Looking for compromises, the photographer offered her a trade he came up with.
However, the model didn’t seem to like the idea of the trade, so she offered another deal. This one involved paying the model half of what the photographer would usually pay for a model. Naturally, the photographer wasn’t very happy about the offer.

After the unsuccessful exchange, the model warned the photographer about a possible negative review

The model tried to convince the photographer to meet her terms, however, to no avail. Angry about the unsuccessful persuasion, the model texted the photographer about him being “unprofessional” before warning him that if he gets any negative review, he’ll “know where it’s coming from.”
Here’s what people online said
There were also some who believed that the text exchange was fabricated

Share on FacebookWow! So many comments have been sparked by this exchange! This is a faked exchange, of course. When the "two parties" verbiage, style and errors are compared using authorship verification and anti-cheating plagiarism detection tools, they "score" a 94% probability that both sides are the same writer.
Seems fake...writing reads the same on both sides. She can't spell but and use grammar and knows the difference between you're and your. Don't buy it
She will never get far with that attitude! What a freeloader!!!!
This is the harsh truth: For every vain and shallow person who wants to model...a photographer that is good had to spend hundreds if not thousands of hours working on their craft from realizing how to light to how to frame a shot to retouching the images. For every 100 models there is maybe at most 20 photographers. So as a photographer...the odds are always in my favor. I get dozens of the most vapid messages on a daily. They all start exactly the same: "I love your work!"...Cool. F*****g hire me. You don't say that to a hairstylist or a restaurant you love eating at. "Give me your talents for free and I'll promise to tag you. F**k you and your equally cheap followers. The last thing I want is more beggers hitting me up for my services. You looks will fade over time...my photography skills only get better...at least until I'm too frail to hold a camera. DSC3854Ret...2ba70a.jpg
I have many photographer friends (pors and semi-pros) and a couple of them have done colabs, but everytime someone ask them for free photos for experience the answer is "I can practice with my brother/mom/dad. Can either of yours take quality photos?" Shuts them up every time.
Load More Replies...This sounds like a model who is very new to the industry. There is a thing called TFP (Time For Pics), which would be free. Photographers like to use this time to test out new things, and depending on how long the shoot is, they can do things that the model wants to test out. It's great for portfolio building, which sounds like is her case. However photographers also need to earn money, so they won't always have time to do these 'free' shoots in between paid work. The rest of the conversation reeks of inexperience and egotism, and now that it's out in the open, she'll struggle to find work (if she even had any to begin with). People talk and reviews are traded within the industry. This kind of behaviour, along with bringing a jealous boyfriend to the shoot, are massive red flags that can essentially blacklist a model from getting hired ever again.
I don't know why people bother with these idiots. A one sentence answer is all they need. "I don't work for free". ...///... That's it. After that, block them.
Not sure when it started but I'm pretty sure most go under the name "influencer" nowadays.

Wow! Sounds like someone else's rational. We'll have meetings at my house/club and you'll pay for the use. I'm going golfing at my clubs and I get paid for housing my secret service agents in my hotels. I move to the White House and you pay to have secret service agents guard my wife and son at home AND pay me for housing them.
Name and shame, she SHOULD never get far with that attitude, rather needs a slap! 🤬
