After Saving A Fox From A Fur Farm, We Decided To Get Him A Friend So He Wouldn’t Feel Lonely

Everyone knows Juniper – a very nice fox and her dog friend. I love her as well.

But let me introduce another wonderful couple – Jay and Saimon!

More info: Instagram

Those are our pets, Jay the fox and Saimon

Jay is 2 years old. We took her from a fur farm and she became our best friend

I’ve been working from home that’s why I was always nearby

My husband loves Jay too, and they spent a lot of time together

She loves to sleep with us

I always find this nice muzzle like this in the morning

And we celebrate all holidays as a family. Jay’s birthday!

New Year 2017

Jay is very friendly…

Playful…

And curious

But she always tries to steal something. Eggs…

Or a beer

And, of course, this sweet croissant

No idea what’s this, but looks like she stole it too

This year, I’ve changed from remote work to the office. I was very afraid that Jay would miss us as she would always be alone

Because of that a new joiner came to our family. Saimon!

We decided that Jay needs a friend who’d be her age and “size”. Saimon is also 2 years old

We got him from animal shelter. We knew that Jay is very friendly and we won’t have problems with them

Now they’re best friends always spending time together

Aren’t they adorable?

Hey, person who posted this, wanna exchange your life with mine? *SPOILER ALERT* My life is pretty dull, my mother doesn't let me get a dog because she feels nauseated around furry animals, and I suck at everything I do. :v please exchange lives.😇

The 'fur farm' is in Siberia, and they have been taming foxes for decades now. Note the black and silver portion of Jay, which are remnants of his Arctic Fox ancestors. You can watch part of the original program on this right here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xwq3rs_evolution-in-action-the-silver-fox-experiment_shortfilms

Also, "black and silver fur" has nothing to do with arctic foxes in this case. It is a morph of a red fox, which comes in many different colors. No matter what the color of the fox, you can tell it is a red fox because they always have a white tipped tail.

Hi Polina, you have a person here claiming that you got your fox from that institute in Siberia running the domesticated fox experiments, not a fur farm. Would you please chime in about that?

Hi. Nope! Got it in Poland. Never been in Siberia, and i assume it is quite difficult to pass all borders from Russia to Unia.

I love stories in which animals get to be happy and loved. This is one of the best. We need more true stories like this.

These pictures are from a European country. Also...not all foxes have the "friendly" gene that some have been trying to breed into them. It takes more than just a few generations to make a real "pet" out of a wild animal.

OMG, she looks so much like our welsh corgi. People who don't like foxes should definitely meet this one and fall in love with them at once!

Cute ... but few questions come to mind. From what I've read is that foxes are mainly nocturnal, need a lot of space and pee everywhere and smell bad .. How are they dealing with that???

Smells - yes. But we go outside for a walk twice per day. And she pee not a lot after that. Not sure about space. Jay has separate room.

Glad you got Saimon for Jay! Although we do the best we can for our fur- and feather-kids, I think they benefit from another being of their species (or close to it, as here), to play with and to get emotional support from a non-human friend.
