Pet adoption is still on the rise. As the worldwide pandemic hit, many hoomans realized that they needed some extra fluffiness to warm their hearts in this chaotic world. Meanwhile, experts continually urge every potential adoptive pet parent to think very carefully through their decision, be realistic about how much time and effort they can devote, and not adopt impulsively.
However, there’s one thing that seems to be clear for most pet owners and that’s what kind of pet they want. No wonder people like to refer to themselves as either cat or dog people, and these two groups are often pretty strictly defined. In fact, cat people say they find a better connection with fellow feline aficionados, while dog people may give a Tinder date a hard pass if they find they’re into cats more than dogs.

Folks, please: if you consider getting pets, please get a carrier or, if available for the species, a harness that can be connected to the seatbelt lock. In case of an accident, these two cuties will be mush against the (rest of the) windshield. And having a cat run wild because a truck honked, for example, may lead to a crash in seconds.

Ollie Wandered Out Of The Woods Two Weeks Ago And Has Officially Adopted Us
So to find out more about whether cat people and dog people are really as different as they'd like to think, Bored Panda spoke with Professor Samuel D. Gosling, a professor at the Department Of Psychology at The University Of Texas. Gosling has three main areas of interest: Connections between people and the physical spaces in which they live, personality in nonhuman animals, and new methods for obtaining data useful for research in the social sciences.
Gosling told us that on average dog and cat people are indeed different but there's a lot of overlap between the two groups. “Just as men are on average taller than women, there is still a lot of overlap between the two groups in height (i.e., men are generally taller than women but there are still lots of women taller than lots of men).”

“So, with that background, yes, people who self-identify as dog people are reliably different from people who self-identify as cat people,” the professor said.
According to Gosling, “people who self-identify as dog people are higher on the Big Five traits of Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness and lower on the Big Five traits of Neuroticism and Openness than are people who self-identify as cat people.” In order to get a better sense of what's meant by those personality labels, Gosling’s advice is to read about the Big Five.

In a previous interview, we also spoke with Yulia Popyk, an animal behavior expert from Petcube Emergency Fund who explained that there are a number of reasons for the surge in pet adoptions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“First, many people were (and perhaps many still are) spending more time at home and were looking for a companion. Second, some people have been looking for a sense of normalcy during these uncertain times. Third, pets can provide emotional support and help reduce stress and anxiety. Last but not least, adopting a pet from a shelter or rescue organization can help save a life.”
Popyk added that this fact itself already provides enough motivation and inspiration during hard times like these.

Meanwhile, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people were at home more often and had more time to care for a pet. Pets also provide companionship and help reduce stress and anxiety which became something we all craved during those uncertain times.
At the same time, pet adoption should be viewed as a tremendous responsibility. Popyk argues that every person who considers pet adoption should start by asking themselves if they are prepared to commit to taking care of another living creature for the duration of its life. “This includes feeding, walking, exercising, and providing veterinary care as needed,” she added.

That is definitely a wolf hybrid. I really hope this person has done their research, it can be very tricky dealing with wolfdogs.
Hybrid or no, let them love each other and be blessed.
Load More Replies...That's a wolfdog they are wonderful but very much a lot of intense caretaker input. Please research as yetichild said. Please.
How do you tell it's a wolf-dog hybrid? My doggo was a shepherd husky cross and looked a lot like this.
First look is the lankiness. Long legs, lean. Definitely a predator. This is NOT A BAD THING.
Load More Replies...Beautiful dog, might be a hybrid but might not be. I would suggest getting a DNA test done to be sure. I have come across a couple of dogs that where surposed to be hybrids but when tested where not so don't jump to conclusions but if he is a hybrid as others have said you will need to get some really good advice on how to care for him the best.
We used to have a German shepherd, husky, wolf. He had the face of a white wolf, a body of the German shepherd,, and the fluffy, curled tail of a husky!🥰 I sure loved that dog. Had him for five years as an elder dog.💗
I could see this lil girl/guy being a husky/malamute/arctic dog type that's just underweight. Fatten them up and he might look more like a domestic breed than a wolf hybrid, especially since they are a recent adoption.
Hope you bought some new running shoes, you're going to need them!!
Looks like wolf hybrid. Very handsome I would get DNA test if you are not sure. If he is it will not be like having a regular dog their behaviours are quite different. 🥰 I'm in love.
Are you prepared for this dude? This guy is gonna escape DAILY lol. i had a 4th generation wolfdog and I had to take some drastic measures to keep her from running loose.
Yeah be careful with that assumption. It is illegal to adopt or keep wolves or wolf hybrid dogs unless you are First Nation, due to heritage and culture. And, I think, on a reservation.
Unfortunately that isn't true. Only a dozen or so US states have deemed it illegal to possess a wolf hybrid. The other states have varying guidelines, such as how much of a genetic % is allowed, enclosure requirements, etc. That being said, I believe the breeding of wolf hybrids should be illegal worldwide. It is beyond cruel.
Load More Replies...Absolutely gorgeous.... But taking into account other posts on here and also my distaste for how sad it looks tied up with a rope (not a leash) and how skinny...I question it's care?
When we got our 9-year old rescue, he was 55 pounds. Recovering from mange and on meds for Giardia and diarrhea. By the time we took him back to the vet for a follow up he was 60 pounds. Another couple months and he was 65#. A year later he is 72 pounds. Since his adoption he has a healthy coat and looks beautiful and his face is that of happy stress free dog. Regarding rope, it maybe a long lead. The first day, our rescue pulled so suddenly he yanked the lead off my hand and ran into the woods behind the house. You can imagine how upset I was. But he came back 5 minutes later, thank goodness. Anyway, new strong dogs sometimes need strong leads when you are getting to know them and vice versa.

Load More Replies...I adopted two very feral kittens a couple of years ago. They lived behind my washing machine for at least two weeks. I didn't push it and let them come to me when they were ready... and now they never leave my side. I love them with all of my heart.
I have two kittens at home. We rescued them from an abandoned warehouse. It took about three months for them to start to come around us. The female isn't very affectionate and don't like very many pets. But the male is turning into a big cuddle bug. Still skiddish, and don't like being picked up yet. But he will sit next to me and knead my leg as I pet him. I wasn't so sure and rescuing two feral kittens but it has been a fun crazy journey with them two
It's nice to see so many people willing to rescue. I have 8 rescue pets but our youngest cat was pregnant when we got her, now I have 6 (yes 6 from a 4lb cat) of the sweetest and most loving kittens that I CANNOT find decenthomes for. Momma is getting spayed next week. I love these babies and they deserve better than shelter life.
Anybody that has seen a post with a white dog that was let out after the grass was cut or after the grass was cut, then it rained and the dog is covered head to toe in grass. Maybe Bermuda grass clippings or something please point me back to it. I can't find it. Thank you
I will never understand people who dislike cats or dogs. They are Angel's on earth.😚💞😸💞🐶💞💖💖💖
