But one online community consistently amazes even those who think they've seen it all. Of course, I'm talking about r/MildlyInteresting.

Mine starts counting from the moment you turn it on. Even better because you don't even have to do the math :)
But it only tells u when u start the oven, not when you put the food in??
By any chance, does your over have a backup battery for the clock? One thing that drives me nuts is how ovens and microwaves have no backup battery for their clocks, so if the power goes out, you get the flashing 0:00. After the second time, people get tired of resetting the clock. Even a lousy watch battery would do the trick.
Wait. How does it know when I put the whatever in the oven? Does it start after the pre heat? Does it start when the door is opened then closed? Does it go by extra weight on the rack? I'm so confused 😅
I thought I was being smart, and turned the stove timer on, but accidentally made it like 11 hours. I fixed the timer. But I just turned off the oven lol

How does it know? Is it from the time your turned it on or the time you put the food in the oven? One thing all modern ovens SHOULD have is a digital temperature guage - no more guessing whether you are on 170 or 180 - you will be on the same temperature every time, even if that particular oven runs a little hot or a little cold. I am reminded of this every time I go to my parents and have to turn my head upside down to read the dial, as the most common temperature settings are at the bottom! Doh!
Maybe it's based on when the oven door was opened. There's probably a way to configure a sensor for that.

As RedSquaree explained further, "Sometimes we see users post to r/MildlyInteresting first (because if they didn't, it would break rule 3 of our page). Then, they go on to crosspost to r/damnthatsinteresting. And we're thinking to ourselves, '/r/HolUp, it can't be both.'"
