Be careful of what you post online, because it can always come back at you like a boomerang. This advice is older than the internet itself, but still, many people think it won’t happen to them.

Think again! There’s even an entire subreddit known as “Clever Comebacks” dedicated to responses and comments so witty and so savage that they roasted the barbecue out of the OP. Some comebacks are not just ‘oh snap’ but rather ‘oh smack,’ and they’re just totally hilarious.

Below we selected some of the most clever and funny comebacks screenshotted and shared on this community, so pull your seat closer and upvote the best ones as you go. After you’re done, be sure to check out our previous features with clever comebacks here, here and here.

I don't think they buy and sell Christians. I think you find them lying around outside liquor stores, gay bars, etc, looking for people to harrass. You just scoop them up.

Scientifically, his little "survey" here is completely biased and designed to provide the answer he wants. And he also doesn't say "flood proof" - which is a bigger real problem than earthquakes - which you are never going to "proof" -

Why is the imperial system like that? I am curious. Metric kind of makes sense since 10 mm make 1 cm but what is the reason for a foot to be 12 inches?

it has its origins in the middle ages. It's easy to measure with body parts, like the width of a thumb, or the length of your foot. Problem came when every city had their own version of an inch, foot, mile, etc... Napoleon had enough of it, and introduced a new system, based on meters. But Napoleon never reached the UK, or the US....

I know there's whole imperial vs metric thing on the internet. I can't be the only British person who uses both. I have recipes that I use imperial for and some I use metric. I measure height and weight in both at different times. And I use miles for driving, never km, but I do use metric when measuring a room or piece of furniture for example. I swear I can't be the only one!

Hey! I'm a mathematician and even drunk I wouldn't invent the imperial system. For starters, I can't even explain it to anyone when sober, so there's no way I'd be able to explain it when drunk.

When I was in school, we learned the metric system because we were told we would eventually convert to it. It's been 30 years and I'm still waiting. What's funny is once you've been using the imperial system your whole life it's like second nature and you don't think about it being difficult or strange to others.

59 here, and twice while I was in school, they tried to teach metric, saying we (US) were going to start using it. Only thing I have come across since school is needing a metric socket and wrench set

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The correlation between spatial dimensions and force or energy ones can be achieved much simpler and less error prone with the metric system.

The best thing about modern imperial system is that the deffinition of international yard is based on the meter (since 1959)

An imperial mile was also based on 1000: on average a grown nan was 5’2”. He could count 1000 paces, which roughly equals his height. That’s why the mile is 5,280 feet.

Yes, the name was 'milles passuum', for 'thousand paces'. Shortened to 'mile'.

The decimal system is definitely superior. The US quickly modernised to decimal currency once they became independent from Britain. Pounds, shillings and pence was as ridiculous as pounds and ounces and feet, inches and yards and 100 degrees C to boiling point makes much more sense than 212 degrees Fahrenheit.

Well I grew up with the Imperial system, so I'm biased of course. But I do know that when I start complex calculations involving dollars and cents per square metre of land in x square kilometers compared to another area of land where its per hectare, I get lost with all the zeroes piling up.

The mile is only incidentally divisible by feet as it's made up of smaller historical units, 12 inches to a foot, 3 feet to a yard, 22 yards to a chain, 10 chains to a furlong and 8 furlongs to a mile. 3 miles to a league if you want to carry on. For anyone extending this discussion into currency it was 12 pence to a shilling and 20 shillings in a pound, makes division of pounds pretty variable. To upset everyone else a guinea was 1 pound and 1 shilling.

I remember as a kid in the U.S., we kept "gearing up" to convert to the metric system. It never happened. But our money system makes way more sense than the British system, especially the "old system."

Yah the metric system makes logical sense but the imperial system is convenient. My middle finger's 3 inches exactly, my arm is 2 feet exactly, and the top part of my thumb is 1 inch long exactly. Maybe this is just me tho. 🤨😃

I would like all of them to be safely out of the closet by adulthood. I was (M) married to a closeted lesbian and two sisters of my best friends (F) were married to closeted gay men. Years later, we're all okay, but seriously, if this wasn't so f'd up, we'd all have had probably better and more loving lives. That's 6 of us just in this one paragraph.
