Think again! There’s even an entire subreddit known as “Clever Comebacks” dedicated to responses and comments so witty and so savage that they roasted the barbecue out of the OP. Some comebacks are not just ‘oh snap’ but rather ‘oh smack,’ and they’re just totally hilarious.

Below we selected some of the most clever and funny comebacks screenshotted and shared on this community, so pull your seat closer and upvote the best ones as you go. After you’re done, be sure to check out our previous features with clever comebacks here, here and here.

I don't think they buy and sell Christians. I think you find them lying around outside liquor stores, gay bars, etc, looking for people to harrass. You just scoop them up.

Saying you can do things to reduce your carbon is not at all presenting it as a moral failing on the part of individuals and just because corporations do most of the polluting doesn't mean individuals should just pollute as much as they want, especially because corporate waste is generated by consumer demand and people changing their habits would actually force corporations to change.

Basically, we have to take the little steps to help, but you can't expect us to not have a car if we live in the countryside- and poorer people often can't afford the more green options. That's why, we need to do both small things by ourselves and pressure the corporations, and not beat ourselves up if we can't afford organic clothes or hjave to drive an old, polluting car.

I'm a little middle of the road here. Yes 150% big business is the primaty contributing factor. No argument. Agreed. But if we all change our habits future generations will have different mindsets. Cultural pratices will evolve with the collective changes. Look at how older people behaved compared to us gen xrs, compared to the youngins coming up showing us new perspectives.... United we stand applies to many things 😁

Ok, fair. However if you were to start growing a small amout of the produce you eat then tractors to farm and trucks to deliver part of your food would be eliminated. You yourself might not use the petroleum, but someone else does for your benefit. Small changes can make big differences if we all do something. 😁

It's a vicious cycle. Advertising convinces people if they just buy more everything would get better, ie., love, life, general satisfaction.. But they don't really want you feeling better or you won't keep buying more to feel better, so subtle jabs to the ego hide perfectly in the ads. Buy buy buy consume consume consume. That's why I do try to follow reduce reuse repurpose. It's really cash effective too 👍

Ugh I hate this one. NOT because it's not true - it is - but we CAN'T AFFORD FOR PEOPLE TO FIND EXCUSES WHEN SO MUCH IS AT STAKE. IT IS BOTH. WE CAN HOLD CORPORATIONS ACCOUNTABLE *AND* ALSO DO WHAT WE CAN AT HOME WHICH WILL COVER APPROX 25% OF NECESSARY EMISSIONS REDUCTIONS. Stop giving people excuses not to do what they can. We all need to do what we can because we are ALL going to suffer.

Look at the shelf in your bathroom. See all those plastic containers? There are zero waste alternatives. Did you know shampoo and conditioner comes in bars? Cleansers, soaps, moisturizers and scrubs can be purchased in zero waste pop ups and shops that will fill your own containers. Toothpaste comes in tablets, ever fluoride toothpaste. No plastic in the landfill.

The worst climate destroyers are also the FOOD industry! I know! I didn't believe it myself, but growing any kind of food for those big, big food stores, where you're able to choose food from giant mountains of food piles. But we can all lower this climate destroyer by growing our own food, at home. To have a small "farm" in your house garden, or use parks or unused places like roof tops and small patches of earth can actually not only lower your own food bill, but also save our planet! Look it up!

Putting the onus on population distracts us from reality of corporate responsibility. Ad agencies started the 'Crying Indian' save the world recycle and be virtuous campaign. Manipulate the masses...they'll be so busy feeling virtuous for driving to the next block to recycle their water bottle, they won't notice the black smoke and green sludge pouring into sky and sea. Reign in the corporations. Oops, too late.

Why do those corporations exist? Because people (that's you!) keep shoveling money at the hand over fist, regardless of how terrible those corporations are for the environment! 50% of all plastics produced are SINGLE USE. 24% of US emissions come from people driving their personal vehicles, EVERYWHERE. 90% of freshwater usage goes towards food production, 85% of that goes to growing crops that are fed to animals for meat production, and industrialized farming was born out of necessity to support the FAST FOOD industry. These corporations don't exist in a vacuum. They continue to exist, thrive and grow because CONSUMERS use their products and services, and they have zero motivation to change how they operate as long as those consumers continue to support them with their wallets. This issue isn't something that can be blamed on a single person, company or even group of them. It's a collective problem that everyone bares responsibility for. Grow up.

And how the hell are we to stop using cars when many places don't have accessible public transport? And the fact that we can afford a t-shirt for 50 euro doesn't mean everyone else can- poorer people can't really buy expensive, green products. Yes, we can't bl;indly consume everything, but you can't just say everything's our fault and take the blame of the companies and governments

You can either make a conscious choice to reduce your consumption now, ensuring that you and everyone else gets to continue to enjoy it in the future, or you can continue being a wasteful idiot, pretending that reality doesn't apply to you and be forced, along with everyone not in the upper 1% to give it up because it will simply be added to the constantly growing list of things that "average" people just can not afford. Wak the hell up.
