40 Embarrassing Moments People Didn’t Know Who They Were Talking To And Made A Fool Of Themselves
When you think about it, the internet is a democracy. Whether you're the President, an award-winning scientist, or just a spiteful troll, you can create a Twitter account and go from one thread to another, explaining to other users why they're stupid. However, if you're actually doing it, that's precisely what you need to keep in mind. It's just a matter of time before you run into someone who can call out your BS. And when that happens, you're going to end up on the subreddit r/DontYouKnowWhoIam. Like the name suggests, this online community is dedicated to those spicy moments when people were oblivious to who they were talking to, and has collected quite a lot of them since its inception in 2015. Here are some of the best ones.

Underestimating A Multi Talented Model!
Even though there's a line between self- and over-confidence, trusting in your judgment can help you become successful in life.
Both verbal and nonverbal communication can be extremely effective at garnering positive attention and influence in groups. According to one hypothesis (the presumption of calibration hypothesis), people generally assume others have the self-knowledge to know how confident they should be, and we also assume they will truthfully communicate this confidence to us (the so-called truth bias), unless extenuating circumstances suggest otherwise.
So whenever we see confidence, we tend to find it compelling, and we expect it to be justified.

The Guy Then Came At Him Saying He Violated The Hippocratic Oath
Anyone else so sick of the vaccine argument? Should mention I'm not anti-vax. Have had covid twice myself. Edit: Was asked how I had it twice. First time I likely caught it in a post office. Only place I'd been for weeks as most of the country was shut. Second time my partner tested positive and then I did.
Red Faces All Round
Interestingly, some research has reported that being overconfident while participating in a group activity did not damage the person’s reputation — individuals who trusted their task performance (but were later revealed to be worse at the task than they had claimed) did not suffer a severe drop in their social status in the group relative to someone who had been well-calibrated.
The researchers concluded that "the status benefits of overconfidence outweighed any possible status costs."
So extreme cases aside, being featured on r/DontYouKnowWhoIam might not be the worst thing that can happen to you.

Exactly! A sauna doesn't have to be uncomfortable to be 'good for you' at all! It should be something relaxing, that's all. It might be good for your hearth health, but there's not that much evidence that saunas have health benefits. Still, getting uncomfortably hot is not good.

"What do you know about Covid?".... *I produce my medical degree*.... "Oh, well, what do doctors know about Covid?".... More than Google, Facebook, Twitter, Insta, and TikTok, thanks. Especially if we're, y'know, updated regularly by CDC/Johns Hopkins/Oxford Centre UK, etc. .... Then I hear, "Well, those are biased!".... Sure, and your grandma's third cousin's second wife's neighbor is totally an epidemiologist?
My mother in law's doctors, dentist etc know everything, as soon as I tell her anything my health visitor or midwife has said on their visits "What do they know", "we never did that, they're wrong" ..."babies don't change so caring for them doesn't" etc etc ..we've actually come to blows over this when she said I should be giving my son a bottle when he's exclusively breast fed..I couldn't breast feed my Daughter so I'm thrilled my Son takes to it but she was constantly battling to get him on the bottle for no reason other than to have her own way -.-
SMH. I mean it really doesn't matter how you feed as long as your feeding your baby. You do you and fk that lady. Congrats on the baby boy.
Thanks summer :) can't believe he's already 5 months .. time goes way too fast :(
My youngest was breast fed and when he was close to 9 months old Christmas eve at Church, he started fussing and up to that point, he was 100% breast fed... Rather than have my wife have to leave the service, pretty much disrobe to feed him, I took him outside with a bottle to feed him... no such luck.. then I remembered that as soon as my wife exposed her breast to him, her milk would actually squirt him in the face or she did it, don't rightly know... but standing outside under the stars with my fussing baby I squirted milk on his face and VOILA... I was actually having fun with him while he nursed the bottle and finally people came looking for us to see what had delayed my return... and there we were... happily nursing.. :D

Sadly not, he's a great guy but totally does not see what his mum's like, it's always everyone else is wrong before she is. I don't know how he doesn't see what she's like ..She's one of those that talk so much they don't seem to breathe! Then you never get a word in.. so annoying lol
Leo! Excellent comment as usual.
while I don't doubt that doctors know more about COVID, being consistently updated and all, they are not gods and don't know everything. I have an immune system disorder that is more common than doctors are willing to recognize. Through my research I've found that doctors get exactly an hour and a half training in my disorder somewhere in, I think, year two. My illness is incurable but manageable but my first doctor told me I was cured when my blood tests showed my levels had normalized. Because they do normalize as long as you are being treated. She actually suggested I stop treatment, despite the fact that my condition is eventually fatal if not treated. I was also severely anemic but she just shrugged it off. When I finally switched to a new doctor, she was appalled at how doctor number 1 treated me. I had to be put on two emergency IVs of iron because my iron was so low it was almost non-existent. Further tests showed I had severe deficiencies in other nutrients. She admitted she k
knew almost nothing about my condition and was happy to read the studies I provided her. We worked together to find a suitable treatment strategy. Doctors tend to dismiss a patient when we know better than anyone how we are feeling and what is off in our bodies. I've had doctors give me the eyeroll because I dared to know more about my condition than they do.
I don't object to that. Sometimes, we do come up with something as a patient ---- but you did the smart thing by switching docs. Even a specialist isn't necessarily that specialized in a certain disease. My hubby's cancer is so rare that we're fortunate to have found anyone who can pronounce it!
Was in a FB friends post regarding COVID giving him some giggles when one of his friends challenged my, I may die from complications due to COVID but 99% not COVID, lifestyle. He stated his sister researches immune systems and I HAVE to stop telling people I have a magical immune system. Otherwise he will have his sister lecture me. I giggled and told him to let his sister know she can have 1 day to chat with someone with PI:IgG whose T and B cells are both affected and my highest levels are far below low normal. Plus I am over 45 and don't really sel-quarantine nor have I ever liked using my N95s and N99s. Or gloves. Or disinfecting at the door. Some epic hygiene, carrying my own soap and microfiber towels smashed into zippies and I am generally fine. Course I also have an ear for the sound of sick people and the eye for sick people now and bail as soon as I can after slapping a mask on myself. She is excited to chat with a rare unicorn as myself. :)

To be fair, all Drs and med staff aren't in favor of the vaccine. I just saw a video of a Dr in California fired and being escorted out of the building (btw, he worked through the pandemic on covid patients) my DIL is an ER nurse, worked through the pandemic. She isn't getting the vax. There are legit opposing views and I think most aren't the morons that the media and others paint them to be. Maybe find out WHY there are normal, intelligent people that are wary.
To be fair, all those who are qualified virologists are in favour. Unless they are weirdoes with an agenda. You do know they exist, right? I've read the rubbish they spout. I've also read the published research findings for all the vaccines and not relied on someone I'm related to who works in a hospital in an unrelated field. No ER nurse will be an expert in epidemiology unless they have studied and qualified in the subject. So not someone who's opinion is likely to be relevant. With billions vaccinated and still mostly unvaccinated doing the dying or ending up in hospital it is shocking that people still hold these views.

There are other virologists, working for different governments who know the so called vaccines aren't working as good as they should, they were approved temporarily because they haven't finished the 4 phases of study and many govs should have biostatistic specialists to take better decisions, less rushed and ilogical.
