But an average person living in the 21st century uses and exploits thousands of things that apparently God didn't create: cars, glasses, planes, medicines, clothes, shoes, refrigerators... Heck, God didn't even created the wheel !! I haven't been vaccinated yet. I'm trying to get a blood condition under control and hoping to be jabbed by January. I have not once seen any of the problems antivaxers are going on about. My life is really not being restricted much more than everyone one else. Sure I have to use a mask and LF twice weekly, but its a tiny price to pay for reducing my chances of getting sick without having to stay home. The only time it ever came up at work that I wasn't jabbed the boss took a step back - I said don't panic I'm not an anti-vaxer, she was relived. Because there are jobs were that would be a problem. Saying you find 'maskin and vaxin' against your personal freedom is like driving when wasted.
My father is a church deacon and he is vaccinated, so I don't understand what religion has to do with anything.
Why one earth would anyone be given any sort of exemption from any rule or requirement simply because they choose to worship some particular entity or follow a set of religious tenets? Religion is a choice and it should give you no exemptions or exceptions not granted to every other person who doesn't follow a religion.

Yeah, not so much "full-blown conspiracy theory" as I was expecting. This person actually has a point. I'm a RN in a hospital dealing with covid. I'm vaccinated. But if they're attending virtually they should be allowed to do so from wherever they choose (other than the same room), and if they're wearing the n95 and testing, there's no reason they should be excluded from a room where others likely aren't taking such precautions. I'm slightly confused why wearing a N95 mask wasn't good enough. Anyone, vaccinated or not, can carry and pass on the virus (yes, it's lower with the vaccine, but it's still happening). The main point of the vaccination is for the person to protect themselves against greater harm if they catch Covid. It does read as a bit punitive. Perhaps they didn't like the person and wanted them gone anyway.
It's just full precautions. Maybe a coworker is vaccinated and has someone immunocompromised at home. They're less likely to get it and it'll be milder for them but they still don't wanna be around someone who could have the "full" Covid

Said "cool you don't have to get vaxxed but you have to 1. wear a mask, 2. be tested regularly and 3. attend large meetings remotely". That's totally fair. It's a situation of either 1. get vaccinated or 2. keep following social distancing rules but this person chose option 3. throw a fit because they don't want to follow social distancing or get vaxxed. I disagree with many of these people's views and opinions. But I am really not sure that having offensive opinions is a legitimate reason for someone to lose their job. I mean, it's one thing if you refuse to follow company policies, like refusing to wear a mask at a job where everyone is required to do it. But in many of these cases it seems like the person was doing fine on the job, yet something they said or did outside of work got them fired? That doesn't seem right to me. In the US, we are supposed to have certain protected freedoms. Like free speech, free association and assembly, freedom of belief, etc. Even the freedom to be stupid, stubborn, offensive, or just plain wrong. As long as you are not doing bodily harm to others or destroying property should your unpopular viewpoint be a cause for job termination? Especially in the cases where people are not even expressing their views at or during work, in some unrelated venue or in private.

And I understand that it seems off because it feels like people are being fired for something they didn't do at work. But there is other parties than the extreme view people. These folks don't work alone. So consider working with someone that finds whatever race/sexual orientation/etc that you happen to be inferior. People don't treat that which they find to be inferior fairly. The extremist feels justified in oppression. So the business is acting to prevent that kind of behavior both towards its employees and its customers. And, TBH, the business can be sued for the behavior of these people. Truthfully it is likely for that reason, and fear of their reputation being damaged, is why these people get fired.

"Cancer" is a blanket term for several diseases caused by problematic cell growth, which can stem from anything from sunshine to scar tissue. The vaccine that you're talking about protects against a virus that can cause cancer, not cancer itself. Also, cancer isn't contagious.

One point that is rarely addressed is that getting the Covid vaccine does not prevent one from getting Covid or transmitting it. I think labelling people who are hesitant as anti-vax or anti-science is not helpful in the least. This hesitancy is not helped by the fact that previous vaccination campaigns in recent history have resulted in disastrous, life-changing side effects for people. Key point to note is how quickly, within a few months, the supposed symptoms came on. The covid 19 vaccines have been an established programme for nearly a year with large number clinical trials proceeding that by many months. They used knowledge from 2002 & 2012 SARS & MERS research and built on that. Several billion people with the vaccine in them, healthy & well. It does prevent you getting covid by a significant percentage, but not 100% so also helps reduce transmission. Not a guarantee but don't dismiss it. The most significant benefit is that it does prevent hospitalisation & reduces risk of death. The risks from covid far outweigh the tiny risks from the vaccine. Some people are scared and so seek information to support their reasons not to have the vaccine. It is self defeating. Better to seek reasons why they should. Challenge your own views and gain more rounded knowledge.

"Cancer" is a blanket term for several diseases caused by problematic cell growth, which can stem from anything from sunshine to scar tissue. The vaccine that you're talking about protects against a virus that can cause cancer, not cancer itself. Also, cancer isn't contagious.
Load More Replies... There is a difference between being anti-vax generally and being hesitant to get the covid19 vaccine. One point that is rarely addressed is that getting the Covid vaccine does not prevent one from getting Covid or transmitting it. I think labelling people who are hesitant as anti-vax or anti-science is not helpful in the least. This hesitancy is not helped by the fact that previous vaccination campaigns in recent history have resulted in disastrous, life-changing side effects for people. Key point to note is how quickly, within a few months, the supposed symptoms came on. The covid 19 vaccines have been an established programme for nearly a year with large number clinical trials proceeding that by many months. They used knowledge from 2002 & 2012 SARS & MERS research and built on that. Several billion people with the vaccine in them, healthy & well. It does prevent you getting covid by a significant percentage, but not 100% so also helps reduce transmission. Not a guarantee but don't dismiss it. The most significant benefit is that it does prevent hospitalisation & reduces risk of death. The risks from covid far outweigh the tiny risks from the vaccine. Some people are scared and so seek information to support their reasons not to have the vaccine. It is self defeating. Better to seek reasons why they should. Challenge your own views and gain more rounded knowledge.

What happened to good old "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"?
Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. Are the consequences disproportionate when spreading misinformation and its attendant risks?
Load More Replies... But even by that logic, a lot of these people *will* harm their company. The ones who got fired for refusing to be vaccinated may be putting other employees and clients/customers at risk; many of these others are, quite frankly, bad publicity for the company, and companies are allowed to evaluate that risk and say, "Nope, we don't want you representing us."
