While in these uncertain times, many employees hold onto their workplaces tighter than ever, others are somewhat more relaxed. And if you ask me whether it’s possible to loosen up a little too much when it comes to your job, the answer is yes.

For many unknown, illogical and often plain dumb reasons, some employees have earned themselves a solid “you’re fired!” badge. In fact, there’s a whole corner of Reddit with a cheeky name “Bye, Bye Job” that’s dedicated to sharing “images or stories of people losing their job, a scholarship/admission, or another kind of opportunity due to their actions online or in person.”

Below we selected some of the most amusing, insane, and crazy examples that could easily compete in a sprint of losing your job the fastest way possible. Scroll down and after you’re done, be sure to check out our previous post with the funniest “you had one job” fails.

It’s fair to say that most of these career faux pas shared in this post are somewhat on the extreme side. From extremely rude messages to inappropriate comments shared out in public, these behaviors are the straight way to getting fired, and there’s little doubt about that. At least they don’t happen that often and when they do, they end up stirring things up quite a bit in forums and online threads.

But there are so many more less extreme and more standard ways to fail at work. From letting your team down to screwing things up on a deadline, even the best worker wasn’t born immune to failure. But for many devoted workers, such experiences may end up ruining their self-esteem and professional motivation. So how to lift yourself up when things went down the drain at work?

To find out, we spoke with Sarah Jones, a career and leadership coach with over 7 years’ experience as a top executive leadership and career coach and a 30-year career at board level. Sarah assured us that there’s no such thing as failure, unless you fail to learn from your experiences. The career coach reminded us that there will always be challenges at work. “I firmly believe that when we are sitting too comfortably, we don’t push our goals forward—we don’t really grow or develop. So I believe that failure is instrumental to our growth.”

Sarah recounted “starting work with a new manager with a very different, introvert style. I thought I’d never last with him, but in fact—he got me to slow down and become a little more focused on the details. Also, when I was made redundant, I didn’t take it personally—my attitude was ‘yes, a clear sign to become self-employed’—and I’ve never looked back. So look at what did I learn, what would I do differently—this isn’t about blame, but about personal reflection.”

Maybe you are in the wrong job, wrong company and you’ve been putting off leaving so things are not going too well, Sarah argues. “Perhaps you made a mistake—own up, apologize if you need to, and clearly communicate what you will do differently next time. Reframe it in your mind, don’t tell yourself you are a failure—say to yourself, I’ve had a setback and I’m moving forward, I can learn from this—something more positive,” she said.

Even though failures at work are particularly painful and hard to heal from, they happen more often than we’d think. Nearly every client that Sarah talks to is going through a challenge and they always learn. “That’s part of my role—to help them to understand any repeating patterns or behaviors that may be holding them back,” she said.

“When we fail, and learn and acquire new skills, or grow from it, we develop a steeliness,” Sarah said and added that it’s “a resilience so sometimes the more challenges we have, the more we can overcome situations that would ‘floor’ some people.” According to her, many extremely successful people had several attempts at what they were trying to achieve before they got there.

She was granted the “religious exemption”. She just refused the other stipulations that came along with not being vaccinated (N95 mask, regular COVID testing, remote meetings). She got what she wanted and it wasn’t enough. She wanted it all, even at the cost of other peoples health. She walked away from a high paying job to throw a temper tantrum. It stupidity at its finest. With the mask thing…. Everyone would still be wearing masks, hers would just have to be an N95.

That was not a “Christ given vaccine”…that was a man made vaccine that is actually temporary and won’t be as effective in a year or two. And with vaccinating children, you’re giving a vaccine meant for older people to significantly smaller kids who have less developed immune systems. And with that, they have no idea what could happen later in life whether that’s lowering their immune system or something else that won’t go well later.

Exemption for religious beliefs?! What?! What in the world does a vaccine have to do with your religion?! The only possible explanation I'm giving myself is that God didn't create vaccines. But an average person living in the 21st century uses and exploits thousands of things that apparently God didn't create: cars, glasses, planes, medicines, clothes, shoes, refrigerators... Heck, God didn't even created the wheel !! By this reasoning we shouldn't even wear glasses, fix cavities, have hip replacements, cure tumors, take hypertension medicines, etc... because there's apparently a reason why God "gave" you cavities, tumors, hypertension, etc...

Working at ahospital doesn't make someone a medical professional. Clerical, janitorial, cafeteria... So, when you hear the rhetoric on "medical professionals like doctors and nurses" .... 1. Check the creds on those "professionals" and 2. if you learn they're chiropractors, don't be shocked. After all, re-aligning your spine will fix *everything*, with their special vitamin fruit juice! (Yes, I'm bitter, but my neighbor nearly died of cancer five-six years ago using the Magic Fruit Juice instead of *chemo*. Sigh. Yes. Unfortunately. It's under the same thng as people who are drafted not going into the armed forces, which is a totally different thing. Conscientious objector. Christian scientist' used it to escape life saving blood transfusions for their kids, and today sadly, the "church" is up in arms about the vaccine being mandatory, or mandated in any way. It hurts my heart, because as Christians we aren't supposed to do that. That's under, "placing a stumbling block in the party of fellow believers" in my book. And it's talked about in the Bible more than just about anything else. It means making someone else fail because of ones own false doctrine. I truly believe Jesus would have been all in for vaccines. He was big on the healing thing if we remember.

I haven't been vaccinated yet. I'm trying to get a blood condition under control and hoping to be jabbed by January. I have not once seen any of the problems antivaxers are going on about. My life is really not being restricted much more than everyone one else. Sure I have to use a mask and LF twice weekly, but its a tiny price to pay for reducing my chances of getting sick without having to stay home. The only time it ever came up at work that I wasn't jabbed the boss took a step back - I said don't panic I'm not an anti-vaxer, she was relived. Because there are jobs were that would be a problem. Saying you find 'maskin and vaxin' against your personal freedom is like driving when wasted.

Why one earth would anyone be given any sort of exemption from any rule or requirement simply because they choose to worship some particular entity or follow a set of religious tenets? Religion is a choice and it should give you no exemptions or exceptions not granted to every other person who doesn't follow a religion.

"I know God has a purpose for this..." Would that be the same omnipotent deity who created humans with free will and then killed them all except Noah and his family with a flood?

Yeah, not so much "full-blown conspiracy theory" as I was expecting. This person actually has a point. I'm a RN in a hospital dealing with covid. I'm vaccinated. But if they're attending virtually they should be allowed to do so from wherever they choose (other than the same room), and if they're wearing the n95 and testing, there's no reason they should be excluded from a room where others likely aren't taking such precautions. This is all getting really extreme

Uh what religion is it exactly that forbids vaccines? Not Christianity, so pretty sure that pastor is breaking the "Thou shall not lie" commandment or whatever by claiming vaccines are against her religion.

At what point in the history of humanity has religion ever provided protection against anything that wasn't man made?

I can only hope that there won't be any future kids.

"My kids will know their mother was as dumb as a bag of rocks and decided that being a menace to society was more important than common sense". There, I corrected it for her.

I'm slightly confused why wearing a N95 mask wasn't good enough. Anyone, vaccinated or not, can carry and pass on the virus (yes, it's lower with the vaccine, but it's still happening). The main point of the vaccination is for the person to protect themselves against greater harm if they catch Covid. It does read as a bit punitive. Perhaps they didn't like the person and wanted them gone anyway.

It's just full precautions. Maybe a coworker is vaccinated and has someone immunocompromised at home. They're less likely to get it and it'll be milder for them but they still don't wanna be around someone who could have the "full" Covid

ok i kinda agree with her, i don't care about religion, but being tested twice a week, wearing a mask, and they still put you in another room? that's offensive.

I would draw the line at the third one TBH. That one is ridiculous. But I also don't sympathize with people who choose not to vaccinate for non-health reasons. Why force them to do those 3 things...it is up to them how they want to protect themselves. If they're unmasked around me and I am protected they arent affecting me.

This one is kiiiiinda on the fence though. Wear the f*****g mask its not that hard, but all the testing while people who are vaccinated can still pass it is kinda, idk weird ina way

Going to get downvoted but I don't care. She has a valid point!! Being tested and wearing a mask, she probably poses no greater risk to her colleagues than those vaccinated. In fact, Pfizer's latest research revealed that six months after being vaccinated, chances of getting the virus and therefore being infectious to others are 50/50. Still lower than non-vaccinated people but also not numbers to ignore. I'd personally feel safer around a tested colleague wearing a mask than around a colleague who thinks he doesn't need any precautions 'because vaccinated'. We all have to keep on being careful.

You seem to be missing the point though. The company ALLOWED the vaccine exemption. Said "cool you don't have to get vaxxed but you have to 1. wear a mask, 2. be tested regularly and 3. attend large meetings remotely". That's totally fair. It's a situation of either 1. get vaccinated or 2. keep following social distancing rules but this person chose option 3. throw a fit because they don't want to follow social distancing or get vaxxed. They do not have a valid point.
