If she really was somehow unable to wear a mask for some medical reason, she should be in strict quarantine and should never leave her home. There's no law that says she has the right to break quarantine for ANY reason.
HIPAA only applies to healthcare works. What she is referring to the security portion of the act. It doesn't apply to anyone else. I can ask about your medical conditions and not violate HIPAA. I can tell EVERYONE about your health conditions with out violating the act because I am not a healthcare worker. I keep waiting for someone to tell me this BS at my store or whip out one of those fake cards just so I can laugh in their face as I kick them out.
HIPAA does apply to people who may be reasonably expected to respond to an emergency medical incident. for example, security guards responding to a heart attack. In any case, they got the wrong act. the ADA does forbid people asking after disabilities- usually it comes up when trying to discern if a dog is a service dog or emotional support dog. (specifically, the only thing we're allowed to ask is, what task is the dog trained to perform.)

asthma, off the top of my head. Also, I've had more than a few of my employees report an increase in headaches caused by wearing a mask for 8 hours. I usually just buy them a stash of ibuprofen packets. (the individual dose kind.) personally, I feel like if I've been talking too much/moving around a lot, I start hyperventilating where I wouldn't before. that might be psychosomatic, though.

My hair stylist and I just talked about this. The salon where she works requires masks. If a client refuses, she doesn't let any of this phony "exemption" bs make her break the rules. No mask, no appointment. Not worth the risk. And one client did try to play the lawsuit card. She was told to go ahead and sue. Still not getting an appointment without a mask.
I would have told her "blah, blah, yeah, I'm not only refusing your business, but will no longer do your hair in the future either. Please find a new stylist. See you...never!"
Just tell her "Oh, I'm so sorry, I'm overbooked and don't know when I would be able to fit you in" That you you're not declining her, just putting her off for while .. (a long while)

Sad that, at some stage, they lost lost the ability to critically assess information on credibility. Sad that much of said misinformation came directly from the top of their government. Angry at said government.

I'm on the train for four and a half hours every single day with my mask on (big commute). Yeah it's hot and annoying and it sucks that I can't have a drink, but if there's even the slightest possibility to prevent even one person from getting this disease because of it, I'm happy to do it. Hell, I'd wear that thing to bed and in the shower if it'd help!

I know this really nice lady, she's into crystals and aurora stuff. I liked her even though I found her peculiar. She came into the library a couple of weeks ago and announced that she has a medical issue and can't wear a mask, so can she come in. I stuttered, cause I know very well she doesn't have one, but our policy/rules is that we ask each person to wear one, but we can't enforce it or withhold service. It's disheartening that a lady I quite liked is so stuck up and selfish. She can only think about her own comfort and doesn't care one iota about my health or literally anyone else around her. I had thought she was better than that. In retrospect, I should have called her out on it. But I am an introvert, so confrontation isn't exactly my strong suit.
The best thing we can all hope for is that these idiots get sick and die. Farmers call that "Culling the herd". Just let Nature take her course.
Except for the vulnerable people who are at extreme risk, are they an acceptable casualty? I'm 33 with later stage copd/emphysema and yeah these fools are idiots, but when ppl talk of herd immunity it's distressing. When you know your survival odds are very low if you get infected and practically zero if it mutates this madness is just that bit more intimidating, herd immunity is a death sentence for me

After we went shopping and walking all around the grocery store, she got in the car and took off her mask. I now refuse to take her anywhere in my car again. She doesn't understand why.
