Not only did toilet paper become a hot commodity, but basically, a new kind of dictionary was born to reflect the current times. Hence, the term ‘covidiot’ emerged to refer to someone who, as Urban Dictionary puts it, “ignores the warnings regarding public health or safety. A person who hoards goods, denying them from their neighbors.”
The term has been in use a lot lately, and this is partly due to the fact that, no matter how much worse the pandemic may get, some members of society still act as if not a single thing has changed. The worst of it is that engaging in such behaviors like throwing decadent parties, refusing to wear face coverings, and calling Covid-19 a hoax not dissimilar to 5G puts everyone at risk.

To find out more about the surge in Covid denialism during the worldwide pandemic, Bored Panda reached out to Dibs Baer, a New York Times bestselling author of "Lady Tigers in the Concrete Jungle." Dibs said that the reason why there’s still so much Covid denialism has to do with “too many mixed messages in different parts of our country and the fact that “a lot of people don’t believe in basic facts or science.”
The LA-based celebrity journalist and book author thinks that people are in denial because they can’t deal with the loss that’s happening. “The number is so high it almost doesn’t seem real. Overall, it’s mind-boggling. I’ve had two friends lose their fathers recently to COVID. It’s real and it’s devastating.”
When it comes to responding to Covid deniers, Dibs believes that being armed with information is a good way to go. “Like, I live near LA, where someone dies every 8 minutes from COVID right now. I might say something like, 'Hey, did you know that 1 in 50 people have COVID in our neighborhood? I wonder if you’re that one person? Probably, since I’ve been around 50 people today and you’re the only one who didn’t have a mask on!'” He added that he enjoys being passive-aggressive, which is not exactly the same as plain old aggressive.

Yup. Wore a mask anytime out of the house. Had to go back to "face-to-face" teaching, no masks required. Still wore one anyway but of course the 30 kids per class I had to see didn't. Caught it. Horrid. Still recovering over 3 months down the line.

The mask doesn't protect the wearer. It protects the people around them by catching the virus in aspirated moisture. This is why Doctors and Nurses wear them during operations: to protect their patients just in case. It will grant the wearer some protection IF the infected person beside them is also wearing a mask. Unfortunately, the f'ing sociopaths who refuse to wear masks for their FREEDOMS are the ones infecting the people around them.

I was biking home from middle school about five years ago, and as I was about to take a left into my neighborhood(I might have been a little far from the gravel, but I don't remember a lot), I got hit by a car that had been behind me. While I had some minor injuries, I was wearing a helmet(like I always did- and still do), and I definitely saved myself from a potentially serious brain injury.

People need to get that this is not about them, it is not about any single incident ... of course, if I go to the store without a mask, each one time in itself will have a low likelihood of me catching the virus. But I have to go to the grocery store about once a week, so this adds up. There are about 500000 people living in a radius of 20 miles around me, and in every household, one does about the same every week ... the low likelihood certainly will lead to some infections, it just isn't every other week for everyone, only for some. Damned, everybody knows how to avoid contact, everybody could know it works, and the masks are just a little uncomfortable, something everybody can endure... Not that hard. Not that much that is aksed. A little compassion and reason - so little I always have thought everyone has it - is all it takes. Antimaskers are assholes.

Even though I did not have a fever, my doctor told me I could have had COVID-19 because it is estimated up to 40% of people who have had it did not have symptoms, and that most of us have probably been exposed at some time. BUT wearing the mask is like wearing a condom-it protects both people.
This makes my blood boil. Due to being medically extremely vulnerable I haven't left the house other than for hospital appointments, treatments and scans since March. I have not been in the same room as my partner for 10 months as he works in hospitals with covid patients. I've had to go through my treatments alone, I've not seen my family and my mental health is suffering.... but despite of all that, I am following the restrictions to the letter. I'd give anything for a hug but that's not possible right now. There are so many selfish, arrogant people out there. They think they are smart yet they are so very stupid. Anyone who refuses the vaccine claiming

Considering there is evidence that only those with other health issues before they got the virus are at risk from dying, shouldn't we be evaluating and identifying risk groups vs. those who are least likely to be killed? We could be letting least-risk people go back to work and school with masks, social modifications, and cleaning regimes instead of putting so many people into financial ruin, thinking that unemployment or the dole will keep them from becoming homeless and hungry.
