I'm, like, totally smarter than you are. [Adjusts glasses; laughs in geek]. My genius IQ is over 9,000, and I play 5D chess in my spare time. Mozart? Bach? Those are for amateurs. Me? I only listen to the music that planets make in our neighboring Andromeda Galaxy (it's 2.537 light-years away from Earth - bet you didn't know that). My favorite book is the Necronomicon. By the time I have breakfast every day, I've already come up with a hundred new fantastic ideas about how to improve the world, and my brain works at a 69.999% (recurring, of course) higher capacity than yours. I would've totally made a better protagonist than Yagami Light in Death Note. You wouldn't ever be able to comprehend my complex thoughts because, like, you're so beneath me, and I'm, like, super awesome. [Adjusts glasses again; uses inhaler]. Plebs.

Don't you just hate it when smart people start bragging about what high IQ they have when they're actually the complete opposite? There are those who think it's OK to be a show-off and an arrogant equus africanus asinus just because they know a bit of obscure trivia or have a niche hobby.

Bored Panda brings you this amazing compilation of the best memes about people with undeserved bragging rights and their sky-high IQ while coming off in the worst way possible. So put your smartass caps on, start scrolling and let us know which of these funny memes you loved best, and why. Upvote and share the smartest (pun not intended) ones!

I am 33 and still use my fingers to count. Some people have dyslexia and other learning difficulties. Numbers get all muddled in my head so I have to use a calculator or my fingers sometimes for the most simple equations.

As a general rule of thumb, people tend to vastly overestimate their abilities and believe themselves to be exceptions to rules and tendencies. Right now you’re probably thinking how you’re way smarter than I am, and I’m thinking the exact same thing. We believe we’re special and have far more intricate inner-lives than others. That’s quite normal because we experience life only from our own perspectives, and we’re privy only to our own thoughts. Nonetheless, a shocking 65% of all Americans believe themselves to be of higher-than-average intelligence, according to this study. Wow! That’s a big number!

He's referring to moral panic. A media tool to create .... Well... Panic. That's what he means by emotions responding to spectacle. And it's Trump that can order an amnesty gun buy back. Him blaming mentally health for the recent shootings is bs. He's no psychologist. People with mental health are statistically abused and assaulted more than they harm others. It takes a psychopathic mind to plan and act on psychotic urges. He just created more stigma for people like me with mental health issues. F**k him. He's a narcissistic bully.

Furthermore, I have read (don't know if it is confirmed) the Dayton shooter threw up plenty of warning signs before this incident. The story I read was that a friend of his stopped talking to him after he held a gun to his head. Not only that, but he had gotten violent with several friends AND had been surveying bars to "do damage."

Neil is mistakenly conflating the pooled total of hundreds of commonplace, independent and singular events against two. What is his message here? Is is that the recent double mass shootings were likewise not at all newsworthy because not enough people wee killed within 48 hours? I don’t find abhorrent, senseless and lawless slaughter in any of his counter examples.

I hate how this debate gets hijacked every time. Here are the facts about mass shootings 1. They are terrorist attacks. They are absolutely meant to instill fear on a targeted group. It is a unique crime. You cannot logically bring any other violent crime into the argument. Every other committed murder has a narrow and specific objective. Gangs. Domestic violence, rape, burglary, robbery or whatever else you can name has a specific short term goal. Terrorism is unique. 2. Assault weapons, high capacity magazines, body armor, bump stocks, silencers and more are force multipliers. These things allow a person to cause an exponentially more amount if death and destruction. If the Dayton shooter had a 17 round handgun and was engaged by police within 30 seconds, the death and casualty count would be a fraction of what it was. Mass shooters do not buy guns on the black market, they but them legally. 3. A good guy with a gun is the answer to a bad guy with a gun. Texas has some of the -

Loosest open and conceal carry laws in the country. Why wasn't the El Paso shooter confronted? I'll tell you, because he went to an area that was mostly brown people. Many minority races are afraid to carry a gun because of our culture. How many black and brown people are mistakenly killed by police or well meaning gun owners because of skin color. The black guy murdered in the mall as he was being the good guy with the gun? The black sheriff's deputy in full uniform that was run out of his bank at gunpoint because he was armed. And on and on. Concealed and open carry laws are only useful for white people. Most domestic terrorism isn't aimed at white conservative christians. Open and concealed carry are for white people. 4. All the other arguments are just so much b******t. I am pro gun. Keep your hand guns, your hunting rifles and shotguns But get rid of the semi auto hi capacity long guns. 5 rounds in a deer rifle or shotgun. 17 rounds on a handgun. Thats enough.

I agree in a way. Gun violence is an issue but it’s an issue I would be willing to drop if rednecks would drop the whole “terrorism” thing overseas and wasting all our money on military spending. Terrorism is not and never will be a real threat. If they drop the war machine I can see just letting go the shooting issue and hoping for the best.

There's mental health care, people fighting in all different manners for gun laws. I believe we are very aware of gun shootings. Mr. DeGrass Tyson's point is that we do respond heavily in media to events that are actually responsible for less casualties than, for instance, the flu. Many acts of violence are because people are confronted I their lives with events they find impossible to get a grip on. Working on poverty and health issues might be more efficient than anything else for all these issues (flu is mostly deadly for people that are old, young or sick to begin with). So yeah, he has a point, but maybe this is not the time, because we are not emotionless robots that just calculate the risks.

I get sick to death of hearing there are "common sense" solutions to this. There are no simple, common sense solutions to this epidemic. If there were, we would have solved the problem by now, because like it or not, people on both sides of the political spectrum are tired of seeing people die in mass shootings.

All those things we are fixing the root cause. With mass shootings we are blaming inanimate objects instead of the people wielding them. It's not the guns fault, just like it's not the car's fault or the virus's fault. You take away guns, people will just use knives, and acid and home made bombs. People will always find a way to hurt each other.

hilliarys avatar

It's harder to use a knife to kill many people, harder to use acid to kill many people. Often, the guns used are highly engineered killing tools designed to take out the maximum number of people in a short time. So it's not just The people wheeled in the gun, it's the society that creates the people, it's the gun companies that market these types of guns, it's the whole gestalt, the whole paradigm!

Actually there are plenty of laws on the books for guns. Maybe if people/ kids would just be nicer to one another so many wouldn't have such issues and pent up anger at one another. Maybe parents should idk parent.. teach their kids proper coping skills, how to deal with anger in healthy ways, etc..

It’s easy to make fun of wannabe geniuses who shoot themselves in the foot with their comments, but real intelligence shouldn’t be made fun of. According to various studies, having a high IQ makes it more likely that you will be successful and rich and will live longer. Now, this doesn’t mean intelligence is the only factor that matters (and far from every scientist agrees with the conclusion about future success), but the importance of IQ shouldn’t be waved away, as though it means nothing.

Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon developed the first IQ (intelligence quotient) test in 1904, after the French government demanded they find a way to differentiate between lazy children and those with mental handicaps. The so-called Simon-Binet test, which was a combination of logical reasoning, finding rhyming words and naming objects, quickly became popular in the West.

The test was then modified in 1916, and called the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale. This became the standard IQ test used in the United States. Naturally, the test was revised and tweaked countless times, but it still remains popular to this day.

The IQ test didn’t make everyone happy, though. Psychologist David Wechsler thought the Stanford-Binet test was too limited, so in 1955 he created his own intelligence test: the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale or WAIS. In modern times we currently have the fourth incarnation of the test, known as WAIS-IV. Wechsler also made tests specifically for children and preschoolers.
