I'm, like, totally smarter than you are. [Adjusts glasses; laughs in geek]. My genius IQ is over 9,000, and I play 5D chess in my spare time. Mozart? Bach? Those are for amateurs. Me? I only listen to the music that planets make in our neighboring Andromeda Galaxy (it's 2.537 light-years away from Earth - bet you didn't know that). My favorite book is the Necronomicon. By the time I have breakfast every day, I've already come up with a hundred new fantastic ideas about how to improve the world, and my brain works at a 69.999% (recurring, of course) higher capacity than yours. I would've totally made a better protagonist than Yagami Light in Death Note. You wouldn't ever be able to comprehend my complex thoughts because, like, you're so beneath me, and I'm, like, super awesome. [Adjusts glasses again; uses inhaler]. Plebs.

Don't you just hate it when smart people start bragging about what high IQ they have when they're actually the complete opposite? There are those who think it's OK to be a show-off and an arrogant equus africanus asinus just because they know a bit of obscure trivia or have a niche hobby.

Bored Panda brings you this amazing compilation of the best memes about people with undeserved bragging rights and their sky-high IQ while coming off in the worst way possible. So put your smartass caps on, start scrolling and let us know which of these funny memes you loved best, and why. Upvote and share the smartest (pun not intended) ones!

I am 33 and still use my fingers to count. Some people have dyslexia and other learning difficulties. Numbers get all muddled in my head so I have to use a calculator or my fingers sometimes for the most simple equations.

As a general rule of thumb, people tend to vastly overestimate their abilities and believe themselves to be exceptions to rules and tendencies. Right now you’re probably thinking how you’re way smarter than I am, and I’m thinking the exact same thing. We believe we’re special and have far more intricate inner-lives than others. That’s quite normal because we experience life only from our own perspectives, and we’re privy only to our own thoughts. Nonetheless, a shocking 65% of all Americans believe themselves to be of higher-than-average intelligence, according to this study. Wow! That’s a big number!

It’s easy to make fun of wannabe geniuses who shoot themselves in the foot with their comments, but real intelligence shouldn’t be made fun of. According to various studies, having a high IQ makes it more likely that you will be successful and rich and will live longer. Now, this doesn’t mean intelligence is the only factor that matters (and far from every scientist agrees with the conclusion about future success), but the importance of IQ shouldn’t be waved away, as though it means nothing.

Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon developed the first IQ (intelligence quotient) test in 1904, after the French government demanded they find a way to differentiate between lazy children and those with mental handicaps. The so-called Simon-Binet test, which was a combination of logical reasoning, finding rhyming words and naming objects, quickly became popular in the West.

The test was then modified in 1916, and called the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale. This became the standard IQ test used in the United States. Naturally, the test was revised and tweaked countless times, but it still remains popular to this day.

The IQ test didn’t make everyone happy, though. Psychologist David Wechsler thought the Stanford-Binet test was too limited, so in 1955 he created his own intelligence test: the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale or WAIS. In modern times we currently have the fourth incarnation of the test, known as WAIS-IV. Wechsler also made tests specifically for children and preschoolers.

Yeah...anyone can do that if they spend enough time on WebMD. But it doesn't mean you're right. My current doctor told me from the beginning that if I even said the words "WebMD," our patient/doctor relationship was over.

Sounds like your current doctor is an arrogant jerk. WebMD shouldn’t take the place of an actual doctor, but that doesn’t mean it is useless garbage. You should definitely learn as much as possible about all drugs and treatments you’re prescribed before you accept them. There’s a lot of s**t that often doesn’t get explained that people regret not knowing later on. At the very least, it should help you be armed with important questions that your doctor can then answer (and if he or she cannot, find another doctor).

This isn't a right or wrong situation. I think smart money is on realizing that doctors go to school for years to learn this stuff and they are the experts at overall medical knowledge. On the other hand, you are the expert on your own body, so doing your own research is not a bad thing at all. In the US, where many doctors spend less than 10 minutes with each patient, doing your own research can be a literal lifesaver. This is especially true if you have a complex medical condition that has multiple potential diagnosis, most doctors will automatically diagnose the most likely one first, sometimes without listening to your complete list of symptoms and taking everything into account.

After all of my healthcare experiences, I have learned the hard way that it can be CRUCIAL to be your own doctor and to KNOW WTF is going on, what the drugs are, what they do, what treatments are, how they work, etc., because of the mindlessness with which patients can be treated by many “healthcare” institutions.

I will agree to that. My son is autistic and was prone to physical outbursts in his teenage years. So much so that he was arrested 4 times and kept saying he wanted to kill himself. I researched the meds he was on...prescribed to him by a psychiatrist that had been in the field for decades. The Strattera was prescribed for ADHD, not Autism. It had the side effect of suicidal thoughts. I did about 2 hours of research and found that many people had success with Risperidal, a medication for Schizophrenia. But it took a court order from a judge to force the psychiatrist to change the medications. My son was calm and focused with 3 weeks.

This would explain why my doctor was so weird to me last time: he had probably just dealt with a twat like this. I usually get allergies and sinus stuff every Spring. When I went in a few months ago, he said, "So, what brings you here today?" He always says that. And I always say, "I've got sinus problems again". But this time, when I said that, he went on a rant about people thinking they know more than the doctor because they've been on Google. I said, "I'm sorry. Let's start over. You say, 'So, what brings you here today?' and I'll say, 'I have no idea. You're the doctor; you figure it out.'" He chuckled, called me a smartass and continued with the exam. I didn't think people actually acted like OP when they go to the doctor. To everyone who acts like that: please stop! My doctor used to be very sweet.

I go to the doctors to get diagnosed if I'm ill but have a nasty habit of ignoring warning signs. That's how I learned my persistent cough was actually my body telling me I have a heart problem. Dilated Cardiomyopathy (I think I spelled that right) I've studied it enough to know what its all about along with my Left Bundle Branch Block (I have a cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacemaker fitted (CRT-P). Any idiot who waits to get really sick is a definite contender for a Darwin Award. Point is though, I don't tell the doctor or the nurses what is wrong but I can understand them easier when they tell me what's wrong and what they need to do. As one nurse put it "It's faster when the patient understands because we don't need to reduce things to simpler and inaccurate vague descriptions and makes things faster" I got a lollipop that day (I was 45 at the time. I'm 48 now)

Eh, i have point blank told my Doc that she has the expertise and I have google. BUT, I have found a solution that she had not considered and asked her to look into it. Now that is what I use and she LOVES that particular solution and uses it on other patients. The point here is not that I know any better, but that I depended on her expertise, education, and experience to decide if what I thought would work was a good fit. She had not heard of or considered it before, and after research due to it being pointed out now uses it. Doctors don't know everything, but you can still ask and they can research what they do not know.

I do all this, except the part where I tell the doctor what I think. I don’t want to influence their diagnosis one way or the other. Then if they “agree” with me, I am confident in the diagnosis and treatment and understand it. If they have a different opinion or advice, I can ask informed intelligent questions and increase my understanding or, as has happened many times, get them to modify their treatment. This has saved my life on more than one occasion.
