Our Dorm Building Only Has One Facilities Person To Clean, She Works So Hard Yet The People On My Floor Are Still Disgusting. I Can't Blame Her For Leaving This Note

yoyo5261 Report

According to the website PsychMechanics, there are some basics about the psychology of selfishness that we all should know:

A selfish person is the one who puts his own needs first. He's primarily concerned with himself and seeks out only those activities that fulfill his own desires and wants. Anything wrong with that? I don’t think so.

Going by that definition, we're all selfish in one way or the other. All of us want to do things that are ultimately for our own good and well-being. This type of selfishness is good and desirable.

So far so good. The problem arises when we do things for ourselves and at the same time ignore the needs of those around us or when we fulfill our needs at the expense of others. When you make life difficult for others to meet your own ends, then that kind of selfishness is the selfishness that you’d like to avoid.

They shouldn't be allowed to leave without paying the damage. It is obvious they broke many things. It's the same as eating food from aisles in supermarket, you can't damage it, make it useless then leave.

It must have taken considerable time for the children to make this much of a mess (rip open packaging of the board games etc). If I worked at the store, I would lock the front doors, call the police and let the police deal with them.

This appears to be a 2nd hand or thrift store, so everything was already open packaging, so the kids weren't breaking into new items, obviously they're still guilty of being complete jerks, but unless they actually damaged items I don't think the store could press charges.

When I was a kid, and we went to the toy store, my brother and I would always end up putting toys back on the shelf from other kids. The manager was always surprised! I explained that I was trying to make less work for his staff! He was surprised and very appreciative!

Not real story I work at retail and I’ve seen a single person do this sort of mess. The parent probably was tired and let the kids do what they wanted so they would distract themselves while he spend his time of the phone. I have seen it everyday

As someone who works at a Goodwill, I can tell you this is an extreme version of what we deal with every day. I once had a little guy start picking up toys when he saw me cleaning up and I praised him to death. He was five. I do hear some parents telling kids to put things back, but that seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

TBH this looks like it might be a retail outlet for a charity...as in there is no packaging and the toys are all different, there's no visible pricing... I work for a charity like this and I can assure you this would happen with out intervention.....

As someone with 27 years of retail experience, I can honestly say that this does happen. Most of what is there will simply have to be trashed because of missing parts. Sometimes this happens because people are spread thin in stores and cannot watch every customer every minute. Another thing that happens is someone will act as decoy and keep the worker occupied while the kids, both small and adult-sized, trash the place. I've been the victim of that one. I've also had entire families move as much merchandise as they can carry from one aisle to another in an entire sections of the store. They were not there to purchase anything, just to make a mess. After moving stuff around in about half the store, they would leave. Management was too lazy to stop them, nor would they allow us to do it.

I've encountered this in a goodwill before. I was in shock. It seemed that there were two small children back there, left to play with the toys, while the parent(s) shopped. Like it was a playroom, or something. I was with my young, respectful, normal kids (who were equally as shocked), there looking for some fun things to add to our playroom at home. We didn't buy anything that day.

Yep, this is at a goodwill, and as a nerd / book collector who hangs out a lot at goodwills I see this sh*t all the time. Some parents just abandon their kids in the toy section while they do their own shopping, as if it was some kind of designated play area. It would never fly in a department store, because those places have guards and surveillance, but it is a definite slap in the face of all the (mostly) volunteer works at the Goodwill store.

We don't know the backstory to this particular picture, and these children might not have caused all this mess on their own. I can confirm the parents might permit or encourage the children to make a mess so that store employees are focusing on, watching the children, while the parents shoplift from other parts of the store.

Well It certainly looks like a thrift, or charity type shop, no doubt about that. I have worked in some so....It IS entirely possible that it is NOT just those kids who made this mess, but several different ones on several different visits......so, in essence, many different parents who do not tell the kids to pick up after they look at a game/ toy. I have seen messy stores like that....not enough personel either to clean as they go.

I have worked in retail for over 20 years. Parents find nothing wrong with letting their little “darlings” run around aimlessly while they shop. As a result, these kids act like mini tornadoes as they tear through the store! Then when you confront the parent, they are offended because their child couldn’t possibly have done such a thing!! 😖

I shop in second-hand stores a lot. I recommended that children's toys be moved next to the dressing rooms, which were within sight from the checkout area. They also placed signs: "Do not leave children unattended in this area or they will be considered abandoned and police called." It did the trick.

Call the police! This is as good as theft, as all these boxes would have been sealed, and now the retail value is completely gone. These a...holes need to learn a lesson.

This looks like a nice thrift store. I help out in one and I know people do not teach their children respect, mainly because the parents don't respect as well. They have no idea how long it takes to clean up their messes and they don't seem to care.

Looks like a charity shop or something, all the toys together and no shelf prices. it would have taken multiple kids quite a bit of time to play with that much stuff. I'm wondering how no one noticed it happening. Nevertheless, no excuse for not supervising your kids, or making sure they clean up their mess.

I used to work in a music store. Parents would drop their kids off and then go do the shopping, expecting the sales assistants to babysit while the kids wrecked the place. The one time we did call the cops the parent became abusive and threatened to stab us as we walked to our cars.

Wow, and they look so average, normal, every-day parent-like. I am not sure who I had expected to be behind something like this (maybe a stampede of toddlers with an overwhelmed parent), but somehow it boggles my mind that they are basically the people next door. And have the audacity to stand there, unabashed, to check out toddler clothing with a backdrop of plushie havoc.

I allow my 4 year old to play in toy stores. But I am always with or near him and he knows by now that he must be carefull. I would never allow him to open board games or other things. If he wold damage something, I would pay for it. If he would make a mess, I would force him to clean it up or do it myself.

People are so gullible. This is clearly NOT a typical retail store but either a goodwill or close out store. Just because there are people in the picture doesn’t mean they made the mess. And it’s the employees fault for letting it get this out of hand in the first place. If this fake news is how the rest of the article is, Bored Panda... you must be really bored.

If I worked there, I wouldn't allow this to even happen! This tells me that the workers aren't doing their job by working the floors and making sure the store is doing fine. Obviously this tells everyone it isn't!

There are several reasons that could make someone selfish...

A person who holds on to his resources and doesn't give it to the needy can be considered a selfish person and this is the type of selfishness that we commonly refer to when we say that someone is selfish.

When we say that someone is selfish, we usually mean that he doesn't share his resources (money, time, etc.). Now, why won’t a person share his resources, even if it's the best thing to do in a given situation?

The biggest reason is that he thinks he doesn't have enough. A selfish person, therefore, is also likely to be stingy. This insecurity of not having enough motivates a person to hold on to his resources and not share them.

People who do this deserve to get their car damaged by the air ambulance crew and their streacher. It's probably the only way they'll learn.

Another reason is a fear of losing control. If someone has many needs and goals, then he overvalues his resources because he thinks that these resources are going to help him reach his goals. If he loses his resources, he loses his goals and if he loses his goals he feels he has lost control over his life.

For example, a student who doesn't share his study notes with others is the one who has high academic goals and sharing notes could mean losing an important resource that could help him reach his goal. And not being able to reach your goals is a perfect recipe for a feeling of loss of control over your life.

In other cases, the way a person was raised can also make him act in selfish ways. The only child or the child whose every demand was met by his parents (spoilt child) learns to take as much as he can and give very little back.

Such children learn to care only for their needs with little empathy or consideration for others. As children, we were all like that to some extent but gradually we began to learn that other people have emotions too and so developed empathy.

Some people never learn empathy and therefore remain selfish, just like when they were kids.

Was Told To Post This Here. Woman Stomped All Over The Plants In This Conservatory For Instagram Shots Despite Staff Repeatedly Asking Her To Stop

Rainy_Day_May Report

The most important thing to do when dealing with a selfish reason is to figure out the reason for his selfishness and then work on eliminating that reason.

All other methods and efforts of dealing with him are going to be in vain. Ask yourselves questions like...Why is he being selfish? What is he feeling so insecure about? Are you making unrealistic demands of him? Is he really in a position to meet your demands?

We are often too quick to label someone ‘selfish’ instead of admitting that we failed to persuade them or that our demands are unreasonable.

But what if they are really being selfish and you're not just falsely labeling them?

Well then, help them get rid of their insecurity. Show them that they're not going to lose anything by giving you what you want. Or better yet, show them how they may benefit by helping you if there's a possibility of a win-win situation.

One stop later a old lady with a walking cane came in. No one stood up for her. So I did. That made me so angry. A whole bus full of healthy young people and the only one who is getting up and have to stand is a 7 month pregnant women.
