I was in a gaming store looking at DnD books. There were some teenagers in there looking at dice. The store owner pointed out that there were new books out. The kids told him they were only interested in dice because they just download the books. The owner told them to leave. "Go download your dice, too!"
Thing is, if you're not buying anything, you're not a customer, just a leech.
Here's the game. Download free comics till comic stores die. Then pay ridiculous prices for comics online when they monetize it. Go back to comic sto- oh whoops.
Qudos to the store guy for giving this privilaged POS a serve. While some of them may look a little shabby, the folks that work in places like this are often massive comicbook fans themselves and will bend over backwards trying to get you something you need or just to have a chat about different artists or styles.
My local comic/rpg/manga shop has the nicest, most knowledgeable people, who tend to appear somewhat goth or hipster. I buy obscure horror (Japanese HP Lovecraft pastiches, etc), the odd figurine for my knick-knackery, and juvenile manga for my sweetie's 8yr old son (we're kinda hooked on the series based on "Splatoon" right now). The shop has a game room and holds role playing tournaments as well as hosting long running games from the regulars. There's not another shop like it for at least 350 miles, and do everything I can to support Colin, Erik, and the crew. Lil dude would be broken if they closed, and there's a school load of kids that feel the same, not to mention the college kids and other fanboys. The shop even does cosplay and holds events at the local DoubleTree hotel. Comic book guy rocked. Kudos to him, Lego feet to his not-customer.

Years ago, I went to a car dealership with a friend who was picking up a part for his car. While he was making the purchase, I walked around outside looking at their inventory. A salesman approached me, and asked me if I was looking for something to purchase. I told him no, that I was just looking while my friend purchased a part he needed.
