This Zookeeper Is Trying To Rake Leaves, But 2 Panda Cubs Have Other Ideas

From the moment she tries to open the door into the enclosure where the cubs are, Mei’s already facing a challenge. She throws the broom over the fence to distract the cubs from the possibility of running away through the entrance. The adorable pandas are tumbling and rolling around and just being their playful, curious selves.

The fluff balls surely seem like a handful, especially after getting their paws on the basket of leaves. One of the cubs starts rolling inside the basket and the task of getting him out is certainly not an easy one. Mei is seen struggling to move the cubs away from the basket, only for them to return for the other tools she brought in.

“I think it’s hilarious that they move all slow but the chaos they cause happens so fast,” one person on YouTube pointed out. “It’s like babysitting a bunch of drunk children,” another user comments.

However, some people on Reddit pointed out that usually, when there’s some work needed to be done in the panda sanctuary, they are normally moved away. We believe the reason why is quite obvious, isn’t it? As one Redditor who claims to have worked at one of the sanctuaries explained, this is done as a show for the visitors.

Much to everyone’s joy, after years of decline, the number of wild pandas is finally climbing up. Back in 2017, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) announced that pandas have been upgraded from “endangered” to “vulnerable” on the global list of species at risk of extinction. Over the past decade, the population of these adorable fluffs has grown by nearly 17%!

But Lo Sze Ping, CEO of WWF-China, warns: “Everyone should celebrate this achievement. But pandas remain scattered and vulnerable, and much of their habitat is threatened by poorly planned infrastructure projects. Remember, there are still only 1,864 left in the wild.”

Share on Facebook... And I thought cats were bad... But these pandas were hilariously naughty! I feel for the leafsweeper lady. Maybe a small leafblower next time... Or not. Baby pandas might REALLY want to get their paws on that. It was a really fun show, in any case.
Haha! That poor woman. They are so cute! I was glad to see she didn't have to wrangle all 5 shown in the beginning of the video the whole time. Two were enough!
As adorable as that is, if they really need to rake up the leaves, install some hooks up on the wall and hang the baskets there. Sweep all the leaves in the enclosure under the baskets, then pick them up and put them in the basket. Or this is really just the daily show for crowd entertainment. :)
Yeah, the pandas are super cute, but I would suggest a wheeled push-collector that collects leaves as you push it. In the US, they can be bought at a hardware store. It looks like this keeper would need a good one to collect leaves of that size.
Load More Replies...She needs a decoy basket, so they have one to focus on and another for her to use.
Panda breeding is a big business in China, they are loaned to other countries zoos for big $$ This show goes on daily, you can hear the audience in the background
Listen..pandas are 100% not real. These are just drunk little people in panda costumes. I will bet money on it.
I was lucky enough to travel to Chengdu and see these (well not these ones) pandas! They are such hams for eventually solitary creatures! We were told that like at SeaWorld - yes the keepers did say SeaWorld - the keepers go in and interact with the babies like this for the visitors!
I want that job! Wonder if they understand english? Maybe I could teach?
I really wish I could play..or work..with these adorable mischievous pandas.
