Pippa Branham and her husband moved to their first permanent home just last year, which meant it was finally time for Pippa to personalize their home. Her first target was the staircase.
Pippa wanted to make the stairs safer for children, so she thought carpeting the stairs (£200) would be a good idea. That was until she stumbled upon a DIY picture on Pinterest… Inspired by it, she decided to decorate the stairs with the covers of her favorite books. She made a list of her fave books, found the original copies that she read for the first time, and got to work! The result is not only amazingly good looking, but also safe for kids, as she mixed the paint with children’s play sand to make it grippy, and not to mention £180 cheaper than her original idea to carpet the stairs!

Share on Facebooki thought i'd see a harry potter book as a step in a staircase.. and was dissapointed.. so maybe i should try out this one on my own-- my only problem is that not only i don't have stairs i could paint it on, i also don't own a house :/
I LOVE the creativity. Even better, she took the time to make a few of the 'books' appear to have worn spines and slight tears. Her cleverness put this whole design over the top!
Considering my house is FILLED with books, this would be perfect for my stairs. Alas, my husband would never go along with it. (And sadly, he never reads.)
No Harry Potter is kind of a disappointment, though
Load More Replies...I thought it was a very neat idea and liked the result of all that work.
This is so cleaver and amazing. She makes the books look as though they've been read several times too. Kudos to this cleaver mom.
I had to send my niece the link, I could totally see her doing this! Love it!
It would be easy to do (if you have the talent, that is) to paint boards and attach them to the stairs.
REALLY GOOD! My first thought Was " woooow I want that too on my stairs " second thought " wait...I dont have any! Damn!"
she painted her favorite book covers on there, if you did this you would probably choose different books, everyone has they own taste
