Artist Uses Packing Tape To Create Beautiful Portraits Of Moroccan People
“They are poor and ugly, but that’s what allows me to invent.” Says Olivier Poujol, a French born artist, now living in Morocco and creating portraits and collages from packing tapes. “Tones, colors, shapes and emotions I create from such simple material like the packing tape, never stop to surprise me.”
When he arrived to Morocco, he was struck by its beauty, culture and piles of cardboard boxes, cartons and packaging adhesives everywhere. Soon Olivier Poujol discovered that Moroccans reuse almost everything. So, Olivier began turning these waste items into true works of art.

Not people are poor and ugly - it's material these pictures made of. Read more accurate.
Load More Replies...'Poor and ugly'? Is he kidding us? I am Moroccan, and I am not poor nor ugly. My skin is olive, and I look like a South European woman. My country displays a cultural and racial variety that's very stunning. We come in all colors and shapes. His description is unfortunately only a repetition of Africanist representations of the 'Moors', which narrow-mindedly create a specific vision of a certain race and fit it by force in the Colonial imagination.
He meant the tape he uses for these portraits.
