Orangutan Kisses Woman’s Baby Bump, Sheds a Tear

When mother-to-be Kayley Bettany, 20, and her husband Kieran Bettany, 21, were visiting Colchester Zoo in Essex last January, something magical happened – an orangutan named Rajan tenderly kissed the pregnant woman’s belly. ‘We had to share it with the world because it was just amazing.’ Get ready – the orangutan in the couple’s viral video is cuteness overload!

Rajan the affectionate monkey didn’t get much motherly attention himself, as his mummy died when he was one month old. The 48 year-old part-Bornean and part-Sumatran ape arrived at the zoo in 1980, and has been a a great joy both to the keepers and the visitors ever since. Apparently, he even helps cleaners tidy his enclosure and loves planting the twigs.

The first time Rajan made news was when he kissed then-pregnant Maisie Knight’s belly, so Bettany’s tummy wasn’t the first to receive the ape’s paternal affection. This is something both women will never forget. As Bettany told The Daily Mail: ‘I never thought the orangutan would react this way – he even had a tear in his eye.’

It sure looks sweet for the human but it also very sad for Orangutan.
