After Oprah Interview, John Oliver’s 2018 Comments On Meghan Markle Joining The Royal Family Go Viral

It’s been several days since Oprah Winfrey’s surprisingly honest interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It has since then started making headlines all over the world and people are still passionately discussing the whole situation.

In the midst of all of these discussions, another interview, namely one with John Oliver on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, has also started going viral for, you can say, predicting all of this with many coming out and saying that he really hit the nail with this one.

So, Stephen Colbert’s interview with John Oliver from 2018 started going viral following Oprah’s interview with the Dukes of Sussex

So, if you’re not aware, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Dukes of Sussex, have recently given an interview to Oprah Winfrey that has exposed a lot of not-so-good things about the British Royal Family.

If you want a more detailed account of what things about the Royal Family Harry and Meghan never told anyone that they disclosed in the interview, you can read our recent article about it.

The reason for that is John Oliver “hit the nail” with explaining how Meghan marrying into the royal family isn’t the best idea

Anywho, in light of this, someone uncovered Stephen Colbert’s interview with John Oliver from early 2018 that incidentally also talked about the Royal Wedding between Meghan and Harry and it’s been going viral since.

The reason for that is that Oliver was asked whether he was excited about the wedding, and he was honest about it—no, not really. And he managed to effectively predict the current Meghan and Harry situation back then by sharing his thoughts on the wedding.

Mind you, this was back in 2018, so many were left amazed by how accurately he nailed it

He started off that he wouldn’t blame Meghan for pulling out at the last minute: “I don’t think you need to have just seen the pilot episode of The Crown to get a basic sense of ‘she might be marrying into a family that could cause her some emotional complications.’”

He continued to say that the Royal family is an “emotionally stunted group of fundamentally flawed people doing a very silly pseudo-job” that just can’t be good for anyone.

“So, I hope she likes it. It’s going to be weird for her. I would not marry into the royal family, I’m a commoner, I would not be welcome, especially after what I just said,” said Oliver.

The interview assumed a lighter tone with all of its jokes and whatnot, but Oliver did continue pointing out certain things about monarchies that are outdated, like knighthood, what it means, and how it’s just odd.

Many were surprised by how well Oliver hit the nail with this prediction back in 2018. Sure, you don’t even need to watch The Crown to understand all of this, as this knowledge is self-explanatory to many, but it didn’t stop people from sharing the heck out of this video.

The video has been online on The Late Show’s YouTube channel since February, 2018, but has started gaining views again. People can now see comments as recently as today, pointing out how Oliver called it. It also found its way onto Twitter and other social media.

If you’re ever surprised by the accuracy of John Oliver, you should reevaluate some thangs.

I haven't listened to the interview, just going on the basics I've not been able to avoid but I can't help but wonder what the heck she expected it was going to be like. Did he not warn her? Did she imagine some fairytale type of scenario? Had she never paid any attention, like even at a superficial level, of how things with the royals are? Even at the most simplistic level, it was obvious that it was going to suck for her. She's American, completely different sensibilities to the posh Brits, much less royals.

She genuinely thought she was so important that every rule would be changed to accommodate her. When that didn't happen, she did what any narcissist being told NO do, flee and take a hostage. LMAO. No in all seriousness. They brought this on themselves

And yet, everyone else who's married into the royal family didn't have all these issues that duchess Cringe has.

There are a few marital misses in every family, royal or not. To tear apart a family despite the most friendly and genuine efforts to integrate someone as their own speaks of selfishness, cowardice, mental health issues and improper upbringing. Meghan should sit down and have a talk with a psychiatrist as soon as possible.

Strange, it's not until he mentioned it that I realized how strange bowing to another human being really is.

Ah, goddam. That was an excellent interview, but those two are just enjoyable whenever they meet. And yupp... John is very good at predicting things (sadly.)

I think the two biggest things are 1. The royal family do not address gossip as they are above that. Meghan Markle ran to the press every chance she got and slandered the entire royal family (her in laws). 2. Nearly every single thing she said can be proven factually incorrect right down to her claiming her baby wasn't given a title or police protection because he was too dark when the real reason was because is the King George V rule.

Ita so weird how Barkle is the only one marrying into this family in recent times with these problems. Could it be..... that her problems are caused by her own inflated ego and sense of self importance that can't be met because she isn't a senior royal? HMMMMMMMM

This is seemingly how every woman, especially commoners, is treated in the family. Fergie & Diana were not welcomed at first. They stirred things up & made news the family didnt want to deal with. Kate got s**t for waiting so long & being her own woman for a bit first. Camilla was a mistress turned "princess". Dont see many of them doing that well...

Oh stop it. Don't mock the Queen - she is over 90 and worked for over 70 years for the country. Without the Queen or the monarchy a lot of business and NHS had way less money. It's a firm, she knew it before she married but yet she is pissed because Harry is not the next king and she will never so important. I would never dream off to backstab the Queen what she did. It's already enought hate we should focus on something important like our planet and plastic.
