Sorry Pamela, I do disagree, the beauty of natural wood, is a pleasure to look at !!!
Yuck, on the left side. Awesome, on the right side. I love the beauty of the wood and the grain is gorgeous. Patina is okay on some things, this is not one of them. Keep cleaning. Afterward, put some sort of wood sealer on it to protect it from the elements. It won't protect it forever, but it will help. Then, about once a month, or every other month, wash it with some wood soap. It will look so awesome when you're done. People will actually want to sit on it, just so they can enjoy looking at and touching the wood. It's a good thing you took this picture at the halfway point, otherwise, people would think you just bought a new one.
You would not know It was dirty if you didn't know it's original color
Antique Road Show refers to that as patina, which jacks the price way the hell up.
You destroyed it's character, you removed the patina. we will never see it on the antique road show.
Ironically both sides look good so we can call it a day and let both stay.
Wish they could of left it with half green and half wooden bench!
We have this exact same Amish-built swing and allowed it to age to grey. Then our handyman took it upon himself to power-wash it without our permission, and it damaged the wood. We have allowed it to age back to grey.
Maaaan, now I have to go out and buy and power washer, deep cleaner and anything else that cleans this good....goodbye savings.

So satisfying! Now I want to quit my job and become a power wash cleaner!
Using a power washer is nasty work. A lot of that grime gets all over YOU. While you get soaked.

I love most of these...esp. some of the old buildings. A few things should have been left alone.

The thought did occur to me, but I'd worry more about sprinklers watering huge lawns all summer.

Pressure washing or power washing is the use of high-pressure water spray to remove loose paint, mold, grime, dust, mud, chewing gum and dirt from surfaces and objects such as buildings, vehicles and concrete surfaces. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pressure_washing
