This Chihuahua Was Left In A Shelter To Be Euthanized Because Of Her Weight
Humans aren’t the only ones faced with the struggle of weight loss. Rosemary was the heaviest Chihuahua ever seen by the shelter she was brought into by her previous owners. Her weight was 4 times greater than any regular Chihuahua’s.
According to the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, “The owner surrendered to a shelter, requested and signed papers to euthanize. The shelter staff quickly decided that was not the route they wanted to go on this morbidly obese Chihuahua who is only 3 years young.”

Luckily, the staff at the shelter was determined to heal Rosemary and find her a home: “This gal will go on a strict diet and exercise plan starting tomorrow, to get her back in shape and healthy!!!
Dogs this overweight are very sad; sure, they might love treats and human food, but causing damage to the heart, lungs and other vital organs is not a way to live and almost guarantees a shorter life expectancy! Poor girl can barely walk 10 steps before coming tired and out of breath. She is on medications for seizures as well!!! She will get a thorough exam from our veterinarian and be closely monitored during her stay with us!”

Share on FacebookUgh. I can’t believe people would fatten up their dog because “it’s cute” or “it’s just a little extra” and immediately throw them out the moment it ricochets.
I have the feeling that the owners were obese too... like they probably didnt see the issue with fattening up their tiny dog.
Why do people do this to pets? Why? And even worse, there are some that truly love their pets and yet can only what- express their love with food?
I have a fat cat and I don't know how to help him. We have five cats and if we take the bowl away some will starve and he doesn't respond to diets.
Load More Replies...This makes me so mad! I know how easy it is to give in to dogs and give them extra treats and stuff but wow! I foster dogs cos I love them so much & I would take the owners to get euthanized instead!! Why did the owners think having her put to sleep was better than putting her on a diet?! I hope they don't have the responsibility of looking after children!! I hope the rescue can register the owners with the animal protection people, not sure what it's called in the US but they need to be banned from having pets!!
Why am I not surprised that these disgusting people who let their precious dog get that fat ALSO didn't get her spayed?
This is so sad and the consequences distressing: Humans transferring their gawdawful eating habits to their companions with the predictable results. I am happy that Rosemary was able to be returned to a healthy weight and found a home.
