This Island Hasn’t Been Touched By Modern Civilization For 55,000 Years, And Here’s Why You Don’t Want To Visit It

Humans were always eager to explore unfamiliar lands and cultures. However, one of the Indian tribes living on an isolated island no one dares or has a right to visit.

North Sentinel Island, one of the Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean, is forbidden to visit because it is inhabited by a hostile Sentinelese tribe. This tribe resists all contact with outsiders and aggressively attacks anyone who dares to come near the Sentinel Island. However, visiting this place may be dangerous not just for curious travelers. The Sentinelese are not immune to modern diseases, so contact with outsiders could tragically wipe out the whole tribe.

The Indian government was eager to make contact with the Sentinelese people. The first and probably the only friendly contact was established in 1967 by scholar T.N. Pandit who arrived at the island bearing coconuts and other gifts in hopes to win the tribe’s trust. For the first time, islanders greeted visitors without bows.

However, soon after this expedition, officials decided to stop all other missions. They concluded that the tribe is healthy and thriving without any intervention of modern civilization.

It’s hard to say if contact with this mysterious tribe will ever be made again. As for now, it seems that the tribe is better off without anyone’s interference. Watch the video to know more interesting facts.

Well, I think they should remain uncontacted. Things on this side of the fence are pretty shitty atm

Anthropologists the world over must salivate at the thought of studying these people, but I aggree that leaving them alone is the right thing to do.

It's great they took such a decision! Leave people in peace!

I agree they should be left alone but doesn’t make sense to say they are hostile and aggressively attack anyone if there was friendly contact in 1991 and nobody has gone back since...

well I think if we've not found out how they live after 60,000 years, time probably won't tell us, best leave alone I say. i reckon there's probably a lot of people thinking 'wish I had an island like that...'
