It’s crazy. The minimum salary in Spain stayed the same for about a decade. Even working 50h a week with that salary didn’t give you a decent life. Luckily the new left government is raising it. It is still too low for the rent and cost of living but it’s an improvement.

I personally don’t understand the big lavish funerals. Your dead so why do you care how your send of goes. I don’t care if I have a memorial, ceremony etc. I want to be disposed of as cheap as possible coz I don’t want my family to be in debt or pay thousands of dollars to legally dispose of me.

The original saying made perfect sense: “The customer is always right, in matters of taste.” If a customer wanted wear something ugly or eat something gross, you helped them out with a smile. It’s their money and their business, and you’re just there to facilitate that purchase. But once it got shortened and lost that meaning, it became a huge pain in the ass for employees and businesses, and a license to act like an entitled douche to customers.

This is so weird. In my country, all the necessary data is fileld in. In most cases I don't have to file anything at all, my employer does that for me, automatically.

I agree 100%, also I hate that you have to give permission to use your data to access most apps, websites etc. You should be able to use them without them selling your info to other parties.

I had a ring custom made for when I proposed, I'd managed to sneak a measurement of her ring size while she was sleeping, sat down with a designer. We discussed shape, colours, materials, what she did for a living (in case it stuck out to much), the cut of the gems the whole lot! Almost 3 months of secret planning before the big moment. I proposed, she said yes, I gave her the ring, she loved it. Fast forward a few months later, I'd added the ring to the home insurance, she saw the value and now she won't wear it. She says it's our 'rainy day fund' and wears a £20 ring from a high street shop. Yeah, it's a bit of a scam and I fell for it, but it is also a bit of an investment (I say to myself hopefully).

DeBeers suckered the world. Diamonds aren't forever. They're just well-controlled by a market cartel, to give the illusion of value. Colored gems were, for mosto f history, much more valued.

For me I think diamonds are overrated and expensive rings. My engagement and wedding ring set cost less than $300. I would have been pisses if my hubby spent thousands on a ring.

Diamonds' value is pure fiction. Artificial, commercial diamonds work better in the industry, and a common person can't differ a diamond from high quality dupe. At least gold has actual value as a material .

I love the significance of a ring, but I would rather have a cheap fake diamond than a real one, for the purpose of saving money for more important things, and because I would just end up losing it anyway.

When me and my missus got engaged she chose a £40;silver ring with a blue topaz over a trad, ring. 30 years later we’re still together. This is unlike the couple we know where she demanded he spend 2 months wages on the ring - marriage lasted 3 years..

But never marry a guy who is bitching about giving you one if you want one, ladies.There are options for size and price, but if you hear any ridiculous arguments as to why you shouldn't want a diamond if you want a diamond, dump the whole man. He's just cheap. And let's also remember that a diamond ring is valuable, and can be sold in the event of a divorce. Or do we forget that women are usually left financially worse off after divorce? Get the ring, get some financial security in the event of divorce. Don't let some misguided notion of romance lead you down the garden path. You can't eat love, and you especially can't once it's gone and the man is too.

My wife and I both have simple silver rings that we bought on the street in NYC a few days before our wedding - $10 each. I actually haven't worn mine in years - I have finger claustrophobia. I literally have to make sure I can get it off immediately upon putting it on, and have to check repeatedly.

I told my husband I didn't like diamonds. They're cold, hard stones with no joy in them. so he bought me a beautiful mid-range colour amethyst in an Edwardian setting. It gets ever so many admiring comments.

One of my closest friends just turned 96, though a widower he still wears the wedding ring he wore for the 47 years before his wife died. It's a rubber 'O' ring.

If you really want a diamond get an engineered one. Cuts the price down tremendously. No blood diamond on your hand.

And the price of any jewelry is marked up beyond belief. I do have a diamond ring, but a friend of ours is a gemologist who bought out a jewelry store--I got a beautifully designed gold ring with 8 small baguette diamonds for $110.

We had silver ring / black pearl... and titanium wedding bands. It was a shitshow when some people found out there will be no bling and no gold involved.
