The only catch was that Minaj needed verification of 4.0 GPAs and confirmation from their schools. Throughout the evening, the rapper helped a total of 30 current and former students with their college tuition, students loans, and other education-related fees. This is great!! I love it! I think this is the time when companies go use clever advertisement as her! There is a chance, it was just her good heart, but let's be honest at the same time: It probably did cost her less than some other clever campaigne she might've come up with. My daughter had straight A's , and was in the Dean''s list all 5 years, graduating in the top 10% of her class at APSU for a teaching degree in Elementary Education... came out owing $35,000 in loans. She knew she'd never be able to repay them on a teachers salary so she's currently pursuing a nursing career... starting at the bottom as a CNA in a nursing home... SAD! The condition college loans leaves our children in starting out in life is pathetic!!!

Generosity can still change a person's life even if it's on a small scale. I beg to differ...those one percenters are the ones who support charities and make up for shortfalls when the government stops helping. A lot of people say it's just because they can deduct it on their income tax. Do I care? NO! Just let them keep giving their cash to help feed poor children and educate children in Africa and build schools and libraries in third world countries. For the most part, they worked hard to earn their money. They don't HAVE to give it away, just like Nicki didn't have to. So only if you are a straight A person you can get help - what about all of those students who work just as hard but who maybe haven't got the ability to get an A or maybe have a bad day on exams, a lousy teacher or get "that one question that they never understood" - don't they deserve some lusk and help to move forward? Well I can't help but respect her for offering something like that and going through with it, helping with fees I can understand the kid asking for a 2k wacom tablet got lucky though, i don't know any school that demands you to have one of those and this is coming from a UK masters student in Design (MA) and Illustration (BA).

Playing devil's advocate here ..... she is asking people for their banking info- how do they know it's really her? It's an awesome thing to do, but I'd think twice about it myself.
Here's what we need to remember (besides the fact that this was really kind and she didn't have to do it:) As wealthy as she is, she STILL is not wealthy enough to be in the 1% wealthiest. Celebrities might have more $$ that WE do, but that doesn't make them EVEN CLOSE to 1% wealthy. And 1%ers don't do this sort of philanthropic giving AT A RATE COMPARABLE TO CELEBRITIES. Meaning, if Nicki Minaj can this easily help 30 people, one 1%er could just as easily help out 3,000 people. But...they don't. Vote. VOTE VOTE VOTE. Vote for people who care about people, not ones who care about adding more zeros to their own bank balances. Vote. PLEASE VOTE.
I appreciate your sentiment but I am fairly sure she is in the top 1% of wealth.. She has a net worth of about $70 million (unverified) and the 1 % cutoff is about $9M. That being said, it doesn't take away from the fact she is giving
I beg to differ...those one percenters are the ones who support charities and make up for shortfalls when the government stops helping. A lot of people say it's just because they can deduct it on their income tax. Do I care? NO! Just let them keep giving their cash to help feed poor children and educate children in Africa and build schools and libraries in third world countries. For the most part, they worked hard to earn their money. They don't HAVE to give it away, just like Nicki didn't have to. But she put her money where her mouth is in this situation and I admire her for it!!! If YOU in your lifetime can help ONE impoverished child get an education, you should be proud of yourself that you have lifted someone out of poverty. Look what she did in one evening and STOP CRITICIZING her and questioning her motives. SHE DID IT! That's what matters!

I don't like this. So only if you are a straight A person you can get help - what about all of those students who work just as hard but who maybe haven't got the ability to get an A or maybe have a bad day on exams, a lousy teacher or get "that one question that they never understood" - don't they deserve some lusk and help to move forward? I don't like it when others only see good grades as the highest achievement and best thing :-/
