Oh, the sweetness of sheer unapologetic laziness… Is it just a lack of willpower? Maybe it’s a state of mind, a hedonism-inspired lifestyle, a rebellion of modern kind. All jokes aside, calling someone “lazy” is somewhat an insult, especially in societies where hard work and productivity are valued highly (we’re looking at you, America!).

Having said that, a 2019 Pew survey found that a majority of Americans think people are lazier now than they used to be. But we can all discuss what being dubbed lazy actually means.

For some it's a lack of physical activity, for others it may be lack of will to do even the most routine and boring tasks. And while it’s totally normal to have a brief episode of idleness, if it lasts too long, you’re suddenly playing dangerous games.

So today, we’re diving deep into real-life examples of people succumbing to their laziness, by choice or accident. The result is an uncanny collection of pics that may make you laugh, infuriate you or give you a moment to reflect on your own lazy side.

Super frustrating to see this. My dad is a paraplegic due to a car accident. We both nearly died, no exaggeration. This type of c**p happens all the time. I’ve seen two healthy 19 yr old dudes park in a handicap parking space at the bank. Most folks excuses are, “oh I’ll only be one second”. NO ONE is ever just one second. The laziness & sense of entitlement is brewing rampant across the globe. This is not something unique to one race or moral beliefs. It’s a complete lack of common courtesy.

In many european countries you have to insert a coin (1£ or 2 francs, 1 euro etc) so everybody puts the carts back.

My mom told me you had to do that in England for many places. Here in the U.S. Aldi's does that. Yet people still leave them out. Me and my sister used to push them up and get the quarters out and spend them.

If more stores had a 25¢ refundable charge to unlock carts, this would happen less. When floating carts are along my path to a store I put them in a corral. It’s good karma

I am a permanent disabled man due to Cancer. I use crutches and a wheelchair. However I don't use my wheelchair as much as I want to because of people. I am 6'1 but in a chair I am 3ft tall haha. But people apparently never see wheelchairs. I have been run into by carts. I have been run into and they dropped their c**p in me. I have had doors shut in me even if I am behind the person. Now this isn't everyone as some people are super nice. But a majority of people are self centered and don't care to look around them. This guy in the picture I have dealt was the as well. People do not think past their own world. PLEASE DONT BE RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL HUMANS. Think about others and beyond yourself.

I, too am in a chair (I am also blind) and I am always upset when people don't "see" me and will actually collide with me and then will yell at me as if I did something to them. Once, some drunk guy literally sat on my lap and was upset when my husband shoved him off me. What on earth is wrong with people? I have also had people lean on the back of my chair or get mad when I am in the handicapped bathroom stall because they have a child with them. I get it - I had 2 kids with 20 months between them, but I literally have no choice regarding what bathroom stall I can fit in.

Karma is a lot of rubbish. Example, the paedophile molester Jimmy Savile got away with every nasty thing he ever did. Not called on it once. Hurt a great many people. There are more people than you can possibly imagine getting away with things - murderers, rapists, child abusers, burglars, vandals et al. Why does karma ignore them if it exists? If you hope karma will get back at everyone who has ever done anything bad, you are doomed to disappointment or disconnected from reality.

I used to work for a small supermarket chain, and I know that those who are too lazy to put carts in the spaces in the parking lot where they're supposed to go are not just lazy, they cost the supermarket money by having store employees waste time chasing all over to find carts.

Also a good reason to wrangle an extra cart if you see one and have a minute. Or tidy the cart corral. Or bring in a basket, etc. Generally do a nice thing.

NO! This is why you shouldn't go out of your way to leave the cart on the sidewalk. No one who has to gather the carts cares where they're left, management however does, so stop schilling for them!

Staff are employed to collect trolleys from trolley bays, not the whole car park. Don't make their job harder by leaving them any and everywhere. They only end up collecting them from the wider car park because people are lazy or selfish. People need to think of other shoppers AND be decent to those who have a job to do.

Some places *cough* walmart *cough* don't place their cart returns reasonably. Some will be right across from the other when one should be further down. When the local Walmart was redoing their parking lot most of the cart returns were moved off crowded to one area.

This is A gosh darn Home Depot. This happens at all their locations. It's a combination of a lack of cart attendants, the oversized carts, the huge trucks, and… It's so annoying! People are stuck either blocking the walkway or leaving their cart to roll around in the parking lot. Also the walkway in between the cars is ridiculous and stupid. And those blue carts are not Home Depot carts. Those people are monsters.

Could take them back to the actual shop from where they selected the trolley maybe? Lack of places to leave a trolley or lack of staff to collect them is not a good enough excuse.

Walmart is also to blame. They have an insufficient number of cart stalls and they don’t have frequent cart collections. My local Walmart has stalls every other parking aisle and are always overflowing with carts. Sometimes, it’s safer to park carts on the sidewalk because the overflowing stalls block the roadway or roll off into a car. Plus, when it’s a 110F degrees outside, it’s not safe to leave my infant and toddler in the car while I walk out of eyesight to return my cart. Long story short, the picture above could be avoided if Walmart added more cart stalls and had employees collect carts more frequently.

Then take the children with you when you return the trolley - you had them with you while you shopped and pushed the trolley so you can hardly claim to not be able to manage an empty trolley. I've done that in heat, in snow, in torrential rain. I'm disabled and in pain. If I'm capable of shopping with children, I am capable of pushing the trolley back that last stage, sometimes right back to the shop if the corrals are full, and then walking back with my children to my car (after having to temporarily strap them in the car sometimes while unloading). Yes, it is a faff but it's our part of the deal. Insufficient number of cart stalls or not. There are visually impaired people as well as those in wheelchairs trying to get on with their lives and others don't have the right to make their life harder just because they've got children to wrangle. Staff are there to collect trolleys from the corrals, not the whole car park while people make their job harder.

Laziness can lash out at us at every corner, especially at times when we need to be at our most productive. Think of work deadlines, important meetings and calls, bills to be paid and things to be done. Sometimes it’s little things that we can’t force our bodies to push through– from household chores to dragging ourselves to the gym.

And while we all have brief moments of idleness (which may feel pretty indulgent!), at some point it becomes a genuine problem. So to find out more about what’s actually happening in our minds when we’re lazy, how to cope with it we reached out to two experts: Christine Mitterbauer, a licensed and ICF-approved career, and life coach and serial entrepreneur, as well as Dr. Audrey Tang, a chartered psychologist, media spokesperson and author of multiple books, including "Be A Great Manager Now", "The Leader's Guide to Mindfulness."

Dr. Tang argues that laziness becomes a problem when you are either no longer contributing fairly to what you are receiving and requiring others to take the strain (with little thought to their wellbeing and efforts), or it is standing in the way of your own achievement of personal goals and desires.“In the latter case (and sometimes in the former) - this can speak to a lack of motivation, and, sometimes, the lack of desire to do anything can be a symptom of depression. In which case it can be helpful to ask yourself why this is happening,” she explained.

So here are some important questions to ask yourself, according to Dr. Tang: “Think of a goal, have you got it?” and next, “Think of all the things you need to do to achieve it.”

“Small manageable chunks, with focus – you should be achieving that in no time – go you!”

“Seems straightforward, doesn’t it?” Dr. Tang asks. “And this is a goal you’ve had for some time, plus those steps are probably quite easy…”

Dr. Tang invites us to think about everything we did yesterday–”how many of those things contributed TO your goal or simply distracted you from it (Netflix binges, scrolling mindlessly through social media, any psychodramas you got caught up in)?”

According to Dr. Tang, our brains are amazing since they are capable of so much. “And yet we often apply their energy and drive ineffectively due to habit, laziness, or simply because we don’t know any other way.”

It’s important to realize that it is not the big choices that we make that shape our lives the most – “whether to buy that house, whether to take that job, whether to get into a relationship with that person… because they are clearly defined and they have an exit strategy,” she said and added that “it is the little choices you make every day that really make up who you are.”

Dr. Tang gave an example: “Do you have the apple instead of the donut? Do you take 5 minutes for yourself, or do you say 'yes' to every person who asks? Do you choose to speak kindly to you, or do you berate yourself for 'just not being good enough?'”

According to the award-winning book author and spokesperson, “if we can focus on making as many little healthy choices as possible, we’ll be living the life we want, rather than seeking motivation to move towards it.”

Am I Crazy Or Is This Acceptable?

Am I Crazy Or Is This Acceptable?

We share a laundry room with the people upstairs (the laundry room is right outside our door). This pile of dirty clothes has been sitting there for 5 days, this is nothing new. My bf is making me feel like the crazy one for having a problem with it. Advice please?

There is definitely a problem with this. You don't clutter up communal spaces with your c**p.

It's illegal to do this in the UK, sadly it doesn't stop idiots from doing it.

Pint glasses, disposable plastic cup, and beer can imply someone threw a party. Oh theres a shot glass right there too. Someone over indulged.

If only they had thought to put the name of a city in a time zone -1h away (e.g. if in Paris, the sign says London). Then this would actually look classy.

Surely the answer is that you take their shoes in exchange for the skates and then when they turn in the skates they get their shoes back?

In fairness, the road worker wouldn't have had the authority to cut down the bush. And I doubt the paint equipment would have been able to duck underneath it.

It actually took much more effort to paint the plank than to move it. This is not laziness, this is malice.
