This Rescue Captures A Wholesome Reunion Of A Swan And Her Lifelong Mate After She Was Shot To Head
Swans, one of the most gracious and elegant birds, recently began a nesting season. These long-necked birds mate in winter and began laying their eggs at the end of April, which are then incubated for 32 to 45 days. While the female is tending the eggs, the male swan is responsible to keep an eye on intruders and predators. However, there are some predators that swans are often unable to defend themselves from–humans. Recently, the sad news came from a swan rehabilitation center, Swan Support, which rescues injured and ill swans within the Thames Valley of South East England. The organization had witnessed an increase of cruel attacks on swans in different areas of West Berkshire during the lockdown.

Share on FacebookIt really boils my blood when I hear/read about stories like this where a human being has gone and injured/killed animals... We need much more severe punishments for people who commit these heinous crimes. I am very glad the female swan was able to recover and to be reunited with her partner...
Exactly. :( Also, if they're dangerous to animals, then they are most likely dangerous to humans also. There is a harmful lack of empathy to be able to do something as disgusting as this.
Load More Replies...I wonder what happend to the eggs. They went to the center, but were they placed back with the swan or did they raise baby swans at the center? Either way lovely to see this swan could be saved and reunited with its partner. What kind of person shoots a swan?
I grow older and older but I'll never stop asking 'WTF is WRONG with some people?'
That's really sick. who TF shoots animals like that? Piece of human garbage
I hope the sleazewad who shot those swans is caught, if he (or she) hasn't been caught already, and punished as harshly as the law allows!
It saddens me that the first time my hometown is on this site, it's because some moron has shot a swan :(
What a sweet reunion! It's like they are dancing in a cotillion. Hoping they will be joined by their little babies soon.
Oh my heart... The pairs are so beautiful together, I never even knew how sweet they are. :'( I will appreciate these creatures even more when I move to the UK! I'm also really hoping to volunteer in animal rescues some day. I love the British wildlife so much. <3
People who hurt animals should be punished as though they hurt a human. It is the same. If they are found they should be tried as if they had shot a person in the face
I would like the person who shot the swan to come and see me, what a bastard. Glad they are back together, i love seeing the swans everyday when i'm out walking my dogs, i always take them some dry cornflakes. Ugh, some people really are worthless scumbags. The video of them reuniting is so nice, it made a grown man tear up.
After she was shot to head? What? Why don't people proofread? It's not hard.
Lucky swan, a year of two back there were a pair of swans in a wildlife refuge, and one got shot. The swan died, and the poor mate never recovered. The surviving swan acted depressed and never mated again, dying soon after of natural causes.
