“My Neighbor Has This Manatee Mailbox He Dresses Up Throughout The Year And I’m Kind Of Obsessed With It”
We all have that one funny neighbor whose front lawn has that little extra ‘something.’ For one Twitter user, it’s the guy a few houses down who dresses up his manatee house mailbox according to the season. Yes, you read that correctly – manatee mailbox.
In affiliation with the ‘Save The Manatee’ club, a Florida-based business makes a living off their 5-inch, fiberglass manatee-shaped amazingly cool mailboxes. If you’re looking to “bring cheer and a laid-back ocean feel to your home,” as the official Manatee Mailboxes website suggests, this just might be the $600 investment for you.
Well, unless you live in Pennsylvania. Back in 2012, a woman living near the Yellow Beaches Creek had her marine mammal mailbox stolen, and later returned beaten and dismembered. In the seven years she had owned the adorable thing, locals had reportedly smashed it with golf clubs and attempted to set it on fire on multiple occasions. What did these ocean animals ever do to them?
Whether you’re a manatee-lover, or a Pennsylvania resident (we seriously don’t know what’s happening with you guys up there), scroll down to see the most fashionable manatee mailbox ever, and join the Internet in feverishly wanting one of your own to dress up with funny costumes.
You may already be familiar with manatee mailboxes, AKA the most adorable thing to ever happen

Well, get ready to join the rest of the Internet in being absolutely obsessed with them

It’s all thanks to one Twitter user in Florida, whose neighbor dialed his manatee mailbox game up to 100

well, at least she's not the cat lady. I've never met a cat lady who wasn't absolutely nuts.

What a joy it must be to live in that street or drive through the street regularly!
That is frickin' adorable! We have communal mailboxes and can't do anything like that.
The folks in PA filled it with concrete and patched it up really well. It is indestructible now. I remember it having a gauze bandage on its head while they patched it up.

I bought 3 of these and the company has told me to go "pound sand!" over our problems with them rusting all over the place and deteriorating. I think we paid about $2,000.00 for two babies and one big one - they began rusting after about a month. The company told us "to bad" - we would just have to figure out how to paint them. Yes, they really said this! We are elderly, had saved our money to buy something we had wanted for so so long and we bought something that would be maintenance free. We have complained to the better business bureau and the company will not even reply to them. Horrible experience and we have been cheated out of so much savings! Please, we beg you - warn everyone! It is way too much money to simply waste. Caroline and George P.S. Of course these are now cemented into the ground.

Most Home Owners Assoc. would have a hissy-fit about the mailbox in the first place, dressing it up for the Holidays would send the Neibourhood Nazi's into an absolute panic!! Creativity is a mortal SIN in HOA's, thou must adhere to our very narrow view of what some sphincter-challenged tRump wannabe decided was "acceptable" for everyone! - https://www.quora.com/What-happens-when-you-moved-into-a-house-that-was-surrounded-by-HOA-homes-and-yours-wasnt-one - I think the 1st answer is the one that pointed here, let's close that link loop with a Link Back ;)
there was a family that had a greek like statue so they dressed it up every year for each season.
My sister has neighbors who have statues of deer in their yard. They dress them up for all occasions. For instance, when hunting season opens, they're all wearing camouflage!
I remember the manatee mailboxes from when I lived in Florida. Here in PA we have a family in Hamburg with a cow that they dress up with the seasons. I look forward to see what she'll be wearing next.
I have a family friend who also does this! They got kind've excited and bought a Manatee son for their Manatee named "Manny" Screen-Sho...747c9e.png
I think is is one of those wonderful wimsical things that actually find the sweetness in people's hearts and you cannot help but smile. I want one definitely - I would mail the manatee directly if I had the address...I live in an apartment but if I ever get to own a little house I am going to try and get someone to make me one. And manatees - are they just not perfect?
AMAZING! All of them! I'm just.. speechless! https://www.usthosting.com/
The ones without costumes are different to the ones with costumes, the face is too low to the mail box...or the mouth... very fun though but I think they are two seperate mailboxes
