This Artist Crafts Embroidered Felt Sculptures Of Various Products, And Their Looks Might Deceive You (54 Pics)
Andy Warhol is an unmatched Pop Art icon who created some of the most popular works ever. It'd be hard to one-up the guy, but we think we found someone that takes Pop Art to a whole new level. Alicja (Alice) Kozlowska does pretty much what Andy Warhol did, but there's a caveat—instead of painting products, or anything else common or popular, she makes sculptures. Staying true to the postmodern Pop Art movement, they are not just classical sculptures: they're made completely out of embroidered felt, and they look stunningly real despite the limitations of the medium. Check it out!
Here's what she had to say to Bored Panda: “I started my artistic path very typically through adventures with graphics, sculpture, and painting. "Searching for my way, I encountered works made of an unusual technique that combined painting and tailoring. I immediately thought it was a perfect combination and was something that would allow me to realize my passions. So, I started by sewing 2-dimensional paintings inspired by my daily life. After various attempts, I began to create felt sculptures that began to arouse the interest of recipients."
"I'm inspired by daily life, everyday objects, mass culture, things to which we do not pay special attention, which are an indispensable part of our everyday life. It all intertwines with Pop Art. It's kind of infected in a positive sense."
"I've always been inspired by Andy Warhol and Pop Art. What in Warhol's works captivated me the most is the utter elegance, simplicity, and directness of his paintings—his ability to distill a world of information out of a picture through minimal but brilliant intervention."
