British artist Cuttlesworth has gained popularity recently for her cute and funny comics about MCU character Nebula, who is known as a “brutal space pirate and mercenary.”

Wikipedia describes Nebula is an athletic woman, and an excellent armed and unarmed combatant. “She possesses a gifted intellect and is a brilliant battle strategist. Nebula uses blasters worn on her wrists that fire concussive blasts of unknown energy or heat blasts that can incinerate a human being almost instantly. She also apparently wears a device that enables her to disguise her appearance, either through illusion-casting or through actual molecular rearrangement of her body and clothing.”

Sounds pretty badass, doesn't she? This adopted daughter of Thanos is the last character you could expect learning about our trifling human emotions and being part of a wholesome family. The contrast between a cold, brutal assassin and family member with a heart of gold is exactly what makes Cuttlesworth's comics so special, and so very unexpected!

Cuttleworth loves illustrating and creating, so much so that she plans to do what many us would love to do: turn her passion into her living. "Making stories and illustrating characters is my passion, and comics are a perfect mix of the two," she told Bored Panda. "So, at some point in my life I decided "You know what? I want to draw comics for a living." I haven't reached that point just yet, but it's my goal!"

Explaining how she came up with the idea for this series, Cuttleworth cited a very specific moment in the latest Avengers movie. "Nebula had really grown on me as a character in the MCU, but in those first 10 minutes of Avengers Endgame I fell in love, she explained. "The moment between her and Tony on the ship was so tender and sweet. She'd finally won something! Not only that, the loser (Tony) was completely respectful about it. It was a first experience for her, and it was done really subtly."

"Well, I'm anything but subtle, so I made the first comic to share what I saw in that moment, and it went on from there!"

"Nebula was a daughter of Thanos. Most of her body parts have been replaced, removed by her so called 'father' whenever she lost to one of her siblings," Cuttleworth continues, expanding on the character. "She's been torn apart and shunned. Because of this Nebula has developed a cold bitter personality, starting out as a villain. Despite everything though she has made an obvious effort to change, and that is what I love about her: she doesn't want to be what Thanos made her into. I think with the right environment she could really come into herself."

"I think everyone (myself included) has a soft spot for characters who seem mean, ruthless, or emotionless, but actually have a heart of gold. It's why I think villains are so popular! We see more of ourselves in imperfection."

Cuttleworth says that she has plenty more Nebula comics in the pipeline, so for those of you enjoying them there are more to come! "I didn't expect my Nebula comics to take off as much as they have, and I'm really grateful for everyone's support!" she added. "Thank you to everyone who has enjoyed the comics so far."
