I Gave Up My Career To Raise A Family And To Stay Creative I Started Drawing Miniatures Every Day
I wanted to get back to my original passion of drawing that took me to art school. It has been a long road in the opposite direction. I graduated from Emily Carr College of Art and Design as a Graphic Artist. I worked for many years and truthfully enjoyed very little of it.
I did, however, enjoy my experience as a character animator when I was employed by a video game company! Years have since passed. I gave up this career to raise a family. My creative juices took a back seat. But recently (almost a year ago) I decided to begin drawing. I decided to commit to a year. I am drawing and posting every day except Sundays. I'm almost done!

I can totally see this one as a Corgi - Shetland mix, which sounds like pretty much the definition of cuteness on four legs
Are the leaves drawn? Regardless of that all of these drawings are absolutely beautiful!
This looks exactly like my kitten Scamp!! Down to the eye color variation :o
Perfect opportunity to put "The Jedi Master... I am" and break the whole text continuity, wasted
Rather than just throwing them out, I once left an old favorite pair of backpacking shoes neatly on a park bench with a note saying "We've seen the world and we're tired. We'll rest here for a while". I hope that image brought a smile to someone's face that day, after all the smiles I've had on mine while wearing them.
Ah yes, the clothespin that sticks to the wall. Another of my favorites.
Brilllllliiiannnttt!!! if you could print these on t-shirts and blouses,(and make the available internationally) I would buy them sooo fast!! tried to pick a favorite, couldn`t as they are all so good:)
Shawnalee, your tiny drawings are gorgeous! I interview artists, experts, and entrepreneurs, and you'd be a perfect fit for my blog. Check it out and contact me if you are interested. Thank you! www.7qinterviews.com
All of these drawings are really beautiful. You have a really good talent so never stop drawing. Hope that you can share more of your art with us!
These are cute, and show superb talent - I do think to showcase them better there should be something on the paper to better understand the scale of the drawing - for instance I can see how small the panda and giraffe are, but the rest could be any size at all. Just a suggestion with the photography - not a criticism!!
You are very very brave to start doing what you love and are passionated about instead of your career. Keep on going, you have a great talent& love your cute little drawings!
amazingly talented! Love all the details that go into making such realistic-looking furry animals!
I love all of them. If I didn't have my bunny tattoo already I would have loved to use your rabbits as a motive. They are so adorable. But all the other pictures are too
These would look simply brilliant as a mosaic of small passepartout frames on an otherwise blank wall! So beautiful!
Amazing & better than many I've seen! Print b&w notecards ~ I'll buy them!!
Good job and congrats! I'm on a similar path, so glad you found your heart and voice again.
