As I was waiting for the bus this morning, I noticed a fair few people who were not wearing face-masks, but being outside there was nothing that I could do about it. When my bus arrived, I noticed that everyone, all 9 passengers on the lower deck were wearing face masks.

As I took my seat upstairs, I noticed that one woman at the back of the bus was not wearing a face mask; this is despite notices saying that face-masks are now required for the entirety of the journey.

Thankfully I was sat at the front of the top deck so it did not bother me to much. A few stops after I got on the bus, the top deck soon was at maximum reduced capacity, and a few other passengers noticed the woman not wearing a mask.

For the next few minutes, there were nothing more than overly loud whispers about “that self-centred woman” & “that disease spreading bitch”. Eventually, a male passenger got up and went downstairs to complain to the driver about this woman.

At the next stop, the driver came upstairs and told the woman to either put a mask on or she’d have to get off. She said she did not have to wear a mask as she had a medical reason as to why she wouldn’t wear one.

The driver pointed out that in such cases, she needed to have the confirmation from the bus company saying she was exempt. When she refused to show him the confirmation, she was told to get off the bus. She initially refused to leave, but did so when the driver told her that he would call the police and have her escorted off.

With no other choice, the woman got up and moving as slowly as she could, she finally got off the bus. Why that silly woman refused to wear a mask when it says they must be worn for the journey, I’ll never know.

I spoke to the driver when I got off at my stop and it was his opinion that she was faking having a medical reason not to wear one; an opinion I just so happen to believe also. Thankfully my return bus journey was quiet and uneventful.
