I’ve always felt loved by my family. Every morning during breakfast, we would plan our evening together and every night at dinner, they’d ask me how school went. I was free to voice my opinion about everything and they didn’t try to sugar-coat the truth about any of the adult stuff. So, I was seriously shocked when I uncovered this one secret that they managed to hide from me for all these years.

Share on FacebookIf two blue eyed parents are carriers of brown eye genes they can very well have a brown eyed kid. You cant tell parenthood by eye colour.
Thanks for the summary! I was curious about the story, but am boycotting these s**t videos.

I have three siblings. I have light green eyes, my eldest sibling has dark green eyes with brown splotches, second eldest sibling has hazel eyes and the youngest's are amber. My mother's eyes are so dark brown they looked black - her pupils were impossible to see and my dad's eyes were that light, cold blue. None of us had the same colour as any of the others. Alleles - schools seem to not know about them. Facts have a shelf-life. Within 10 years about 50% of facts are likely to have been found to be wrong. They teach a lot of c**p in school but I thought this one was dumped. Another genetic fairy story was one about ear lobes - people with unattached ear lobes having babies with someone else with unattached ear lobes can't have children with attached ear lobes. I'm here to prove they can thanks.
Mendelian genetics is very basic, but usually reasonably accurate. It's best to think of learning that as kids getting their feet wet when it comes to basic principles of how genes work. Always keep in mind that most high school teachers, much less teachers in middle school, have a basic bachelor's degree and it might not even be in the subject they're teaching. They often don't have enough knowledge in subjects they teach to be considered to have a professional level of subject matter expertise, and if they do pursue advanced degrees, they're usually in the field of education and not a subject. Don't be too hard on them, they don't know what they don't know and they roll with what the folks dictating curriculum tell them to teach from the chosen textbooks. People who take stories off of Reddit and narrate them for Youtube with animations are also not subject matter experts. That said, posting lame Youtube content from worn-out examples of fictitious stories is pretty darn lazy.
