Insanely Muscular Cat Conquers The Internet And The Memes Are Hilarious

The internet loves cats, this we all know. So when a massively jacked feline known as ‘buff cat’ got a Twitter account and started dominating everyone’s screens, the reaction was predictably hysterical.

Buff cat was first noticed on the streets of Montreal, Canada by a feline fan. His fan base has steadily grown to the point that his official Twitter page now has over 17k followers, and has spawned a whole load of hilarious memes. While some people are concerned that buff daddy might have some serious health issues going on, others have speculated that he may have a rare genetic disorder that causes some animals, usually cattle, to become ‘double muscled.’

Either way, we hope he’s gonna be OK and can be found again. Latest news is that the anonymous woman behind the Twitter account will go out searching for old buffy again today, fingers crossed he comes out to play! Scroll down to check him out below, and let us know what you think in the comments!

He has a condition called double muscling I read. It doesn't affect him too much, just causes him to look ripped!

A glandular problem resulting in overproduction of Myostatin can cause this condition. There's nothing you can do about it. It literally results in the development of twice as much muscle-mass as normal. It's a mutation that can be found in cats, cattle, and even humans.

That....is not natural. And, BP, we've talked about your over-use of the word "hysterical". I know we have. This....was not hysterical.

The cat actually looks quite healthy besides the big muscles. Also he seems well looked after and I would say he/she has been diagnosed with the double muscle mass problem that you not only get in cats but humans and other types of animals as well.

I know I have see other animals with this condition and if it's the same one I've read about it doesn't necessarily hurt the animal it does have a negative effect on their reproduction but it's not like painful at least not from my understanding

Aw, I think he is still lovely and he has beautiful fur. Shiny and with pretty markings. It would be wonderful if he was found a good home and got lots of love. As all stray animals deserve. Thank you to the commenters who explained his condition, it is so good to know he isn't in pain.

So where can we find someone to care for it and donate something to have this cat treated? It's a treatable glandular disorder possibly. One of our cats had similar issues.

If you look him up it appears he has a home and has been to the vet. It's called double muscling. It's not necessarily harmful and I don't think it can be treated. From the looks of it he's well taken care of and healthy. :)

No, definitely muscular, look at how she walks. And look up "growth differentiation factor 8" which is the genetic mutation responsible for her being ripped.

Yeah, that cat that is being used as the post, is fake. U can tell. I have seen cats that big, but if u look at the main part of the body, and then look at the upper part, that is fake. Sorry, don't try to convince me.

Well, how about you look at the comments above? This isn’t fake. It’s called double-muscling. You said not to convince you, but does the upper part look fake? Nope. (Bleh that felt like writing a paragraph >.<)

You missed the point. This cat suffers from "growth differentiation factor 8" genetic mutation, responsible for double-muscling. It doesn't have much in the way of negative side-effects, other than making animals look like the incredible hulk.
