Muslims In Germany Ask If 700 Of Them Can Use The Parking Lot For Socially Distanced Prayers And Ikea Says Yes
Last Sunday, the worldwide Muslim community celebrated the Festival of Breaking the Fast, which marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. Traditionally, Eid prayer is held during this event which gathers hundreds of Muslims in open fields, community centers, or mosques to pray. However, the lockdown which was imposed in many countries worldwide has disrupted the plans for the celebration and made people get creative in finding a solution on how to celebrate.

The best idea came to Muslims who are living in Germany and was accomplished with the help of IKEA, which allowed them to hold a socially distanced prayer in its parking lot.

Clearly, it’s the most 2020 way of celebrating the festival and despite being a bit unusual, it didn’t discourage worshipers from attending.

Around 700 people showed up to pray together from a safe distance.

The event was organized by The Islamic Community Milli Goruş (IGMG), which came up with this brilliant idea. The organizers were grateful for the opportunity.

“We would like to express our gratitude to the Wetzlar police, the Wetzlar regulatory office, to IKEA Wetzlar and others that made this extraordinary prayer possible,” they thanked the community in a Facebook post.

As the video of the event was posted online, it quickly went viral. Many people reacted by showing support for finding a way to pray at a safe distance, while others expressed fascination with the stunning view of the prayer taken with a drone camera.

Share on FacebookWhat a beautiful way to love your neighbor. Ikea did a wonderful thing. This is moving. We sure need more stories like this in so much grim news. Be careful, everyone. Enjoy your day.
In the version of Islam I was taught women have no obligation to pray at a mosque, men do. Although usually both are welcome to pray if they want, why would you if you have the option of doing it at home right now.
Load More Replies...It seems the muslims is a lot more wise than what I have seen from USAs memorial day, where people drank themself into oblivion, completely forgetting what they need to do. I'm worried for America. If they continue this way with lot's a reopenings where people go totally unmasked, things could get bad very fast. Way to go IKEA.
Sweden has been lauded by rightwingers because they decided to ignore the WHO (& pretty much all other experts') advice and not have any quarantine restrictions. As a result they have become a world hotspot for new infections. This shows that Swedes can be smart and yet still end up with idiots in charge. Sure glad I live in 'Murrica where that would _never_ happen! What? Oh. Never mind.
So many feel goods! Love this! Thank you Ikea for opening your hearts and land to this wonderful event ❤️
Milli Görüş is known for their attempts to block integration and their ties to extremist organisations. It's all nice and sweet until you realize this is promoting growth of religion in otherwise mostly secular societies. If a Christian church would have asked to do something like this, people would raise an eyebrow to why this is necessary out in the public (and not just practized at home during this period). Not to mention it's the end of a period that is misused by many to act violent and awful. To me, this is a big red flag. And I will probably get downvotes for saying this out loud. In that case I have to tell you that I have lived the passed 18 years of my life in a neighborhood now mostly inhabited by Turkish and Moroccan muslims. I am aware that most are living their lives as best as they can, but also that younger 2nd and 3rd generation members feel entitled to a lot and not afraid to use aggression and violence to make that happen. So. That.
Actually the Satanist religion doesn't worship Satan. The beliefs are more nature focused. Now, this isn't the Satanist religion. So their beliefs are different. But still, it's not satanic, or bad, or harmful.
Damn that was supposed to be a reply to someone ignore this
Load More Replies...Kudos to IKEA for allowing people to safely practice their religion. This really warms my heart.
How cool! Proof that you don't need churches to pray. America can learn something from these guys
This is a wonderful way to show show love and care for others! That people can come together to pray and still keep a safe distance just in case. It shows that they are concerned about themselves and others health. Unlike the geniuses who are on the beach or in the bar!
Lol...ISLAM...a murder cult wrapped in a false blanket of religion to hide their cowardice...😏🇺🇲
Damn you clearly have no education on Islam... But here you are making accusations.
Load More Replies...I think prayer is nonsensical, but it was nice of IKEA. Doesn't hurt to be nice even to people doing silly things!
These people don't feel like it's silly. Don't underestimate it.
Load More Replies...Where does this comment specify Germany? I'm not taking about the post, but the comment I replied to? She said Christians, not German Christians.
Load More Replies...It's not wrong it's different. You don't spend an hour+ in your liquor store sitting with people.
Load More Replies...It helps their inner peace. If it makes them feel some sort of comfort, why complain? Some people do things for themselves and it doesn't concern you.
