One of the things that makes a movie boring is predictability. Sometimes you watch a story unfold and you can guess how it will end, so what’s the point of watching it, then, if it doesn’t surprise you with something new?
Other times movies will have such plot twists that even if you had several theories on how the movie would turn out, none of them were even close to what the director had in mind. They are interesting to watch because they don’t follow any pattern and many successful movies will have some element of surprise in them.

I'm one of those people who always knows what's going to happen in movies, so my boyfriend of the time made me watch this movie, and said there is no way I would guess. At some point, he stopped the movie and asked me what I thought, and I told him. He was so frustrated. How did you know? he screamed. The limp, I said, he changed his limp to the other leg. There are always clues, always.
Same! ***SPOILER ALERT*** I actually wrote down what I thought very early in the movie. The tell for me was seeing him on the sidewalk at one point by himself smoking a cigarette. Just a few scenes before, he had to get help from Chazz to light one because he supposedly couldn't work a lighter. Even though I got to smugly whip out my prediction at the end, I was mad that one of cinema's greatest twists didn't get me. Ruined forever!

This is one of those rare films that as *so* much better than I expected. I really must rewatch it. Maybe the kids are old enough to appreciate it too.
I'm no genius or psychic, but before the great reveal, I suspected it. Didn't have anything to tell me, it was just a feeling I had, so I wasn't as surprised. Kinda wish I had been.
The first time watching fight club is way up there for me.
I'm mentioning this movie not because it is the best but rather because it is hard to find digitally for some reason but the movie "The Others" with Nicole Kidman has a great twist for its time.
Absolutely mind-blowing, and not just the plot twist itself; it was incredibly executed by the director. The moment of realization is choreographed so masterfully, using the atmosphere, Kidman's great acting, the soundtrack, everything! Btw, even if one knows the plot twist, it still carries an impact!
Not movie, but The Good Place had a really good twist at the end of season 1

The mist. The ending was terrible but in a good way like the twist was heartbreaking but it was so good.

Spoiler Alert: Finding out 'The Book' at the end was a Bible was a huge disappointment for me. How is the Bible supposed to help? It didn't help when society was functioning, what makes it save the day in this post apocalyptic scenario? The ending was a cop out.
Monsters Inc. How you manage to make a spider crab look like a sweet and cuddly grandpa in one scene and turn it into a traumatizing nightmare straight out of Dead Space (in a movie which didn't even imply a twist to begin with thanks to Randall) is beyond unheard of.
Monsters Inc? Own it. Seen it over & over. What was twist? That the Monsters were well...Monsters?
V for vendetta has a solid twist the first time I watched it it blew my mind
10 Cloverfield Lane. I love this movie and it's sometimes a hard watch for me because John Goodman behaves exactly like my father, and his performance is both terrifying and incredible, but the whole film is phenomenal and the ending was like, omg wtf**k.
Loved this movie. Watching Goodman.play evil was fascinating. Really wish they made more like this.

It's one of those absolutely incredible movies that are so heart-wrenching I couldn't watch them a second time.
Crazy, Stupid Love has not one but two of the best twists ever for a rom-com! I had randomly put it on one night thinking it would be a generic run of the mill comedy but the setups are so good that those twists come out of nowhere but are still fantastic

The Village. Took me right to the end where the elders are standing around outside discussing the medicine-fetching mission to notice the one guy has a regular necktie and that it was not in fact 1800s... and then when she hops over the hedge on the edge of the forest, and hears an unfamiliar sound I was like no really? Wow.
Anything Shyamalan-related has a twist ... even "Devil" ... I know he's not well-regarded after "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "Lady in the Water," but I do enjoy his trademark twists ...

A movie I’d recommend but doesn’t really fit the category for me to post it above is “A Thousand Clowns” starring Jason Robards. It was made in 1965 and is in B&W, and I saw it a couple of decades ago, and I remember being moved to tears. It’s full of old-timey actors and is a sheer joy to watch.
The most heartbreaking twist in any film, ever, for me, is end of the original 1968 Night of the Living Dead. Like, WTF, George Romero, just tear my terrified little heart to pieces after scaring me why don't you? ....
Sleepaway Camp...you know it belongs here. The Sixth Sense was ruined for me by an idiot who called a local talk radio channel and blurted out the twist before he could be cut off.
I watched "In the Shadow of the Moon" and it had a good plot twist! I thought I had it figured out and bam them come out of no where with this ending.
It's not a movie, but probably the Ultimate twist in history was done by the TV show St Elsewhere. Basically, due to the series finale, almost every single TV show and movie made after 1980 was all in the imagination of one autistic child. There's even a website that tracks it all.
