This Guy Set 6 Ground Rules Before Taking His Girlfriend To The Movies, And 300,000+ People Shared And Liked It

There’s nothing worse than finally getting to that movie you’ve waited so long for, only for the experience to be diminished by the rude people around you chomping loudly on their chips, chatting to their friends, and constantly checking their phones. Sometimes you just wish there were a little order, a little more respect. Some ground rules maybe.

Perhaps this guy can help. Taken from a funny tweet from a guy named Stanley T, this is the story of an unnamed Avengers mega-fan who did the chivalrous thing and asked his girlfriend first if she wanted to go with him on a movie date to see Infinity War. “Yes dear,” was her reply.

And that’s where the chivalry needed for a perfect date ended. Now, it’s perfectly understandable and acceptable to make it clear that going to see this Avengers movie is an important event and politely ask for a little peace. But Avengers mega-fan really takes the piss on this one. He proceeds to list in no uncertain terms his ‘ground rules’ to poor girlfriend, to the extent that it becomes unclear if he can really be serious or not. We are hoping not. Sheesh, it’s just a frickin movie, bro…

Scroll down to see his hilariously specific demands for the screening of a movie premiere below, and let us know what you think in the comments. Are these ground rules acceptable? Or is he just being a diva and a douchebag? Join the discussion!

I think he's "Jokingly Serious". He definitely sounds like somebody who REALLY just wants to enjoy the picture, without distractions. It's his dime, he can spend it anyway he wants. I like his humor.

Ugh... "Grow up. Comics are for teenage boys anyways"? I will never understand why people try to kill passion in others by saying things like that. It's wonderful to be passionate about things, isn't it? Whatever the passion is, childish or not. We all are children after all ;)... Making others feel ashamed in this particular way is so harmful and destructive...

The statement that a genre or artistic media is for a specific audience only also shows about the ignorance and pseudo-intellectualism of the one who claims that. They're diminishing themselves, not the geek/nerd/fan. Because a true smart person knows that 1) although the mainstream might make it seem different, there's a little bit for everyone in the entertainment industry in each genre and each kind of media; 2) film, animation and comics (even some video games) are modern literature in its larger meaning; and 3) even stuff targeted at kids can be very deep and meaningful for adults as well, Ghibli is a very famous example of that.

"Comics are for teenage boys anyways". Coming from a woman who probably still has her collection of stuffed animals and dolls sitting on the shelf and enjoys trashy romance novels for unlovable crazy cat ladies in between viewings of predictable and terribly written Hallmark movies about the return of a childhood crush and lots of internal dialogue about soul searching.

Do you know that person? If not what right do you have to make assumptions about her to make your point? But you're right in the sense that people are allowed to enjoy what they want whatever it is even if is traditionally childish. Heck I'm 43 and I still collect and love unicorns.

We can be watching the same movie for the first time at home and she will ask 1,000 questions as if I had read the script before hand. I applaud him for his sense of humor. Needless to say i wont be going to see this movie with her.

When I was a teenager I wrote a bunch of rules for if I ever owned a picture house. The main ones were absolutely no talking, no annoying noisy rustly snacks and if people arrived after the main feature had begun they wouldn't be let in. For me, the one thing that ruins the movie going experience, are people.

These are all the reasons why I like to go to movies on my own - preferably the late show. The cost of a movie ticket (where I come from) is exorbitant. So when I go to a movie it is serious business for me.

My ex really was one of those people who wanted that other people do not talk anything when he was watching a movie. We visited a movie theater just once and he never wanted to go with me there anymore because I whispered something to him during that movie. I completely understand that it can ruin a movie if someone talks the whole time or talks so loudly that everyone else can hear it, but I think it is stupid if I can't say anything, not even if it is something important. Now I have boyfriend and other friends who think it is OK to discuss about the movie when we are watching it.

What's all this thing about "12-year-olds" recently? To us adults it might sound funny because we remember ourselves back then, but I noticed not all 12-year-olds appreciate these kind of generalisations as jokes.

These are all the reasons why I like to go to movies on my own - preferably the late show. The cost of a movie ticket (where I come from) is exorbitant. So when I go to a movie it is serious business for me.

I don't go to movies. Period. But for a restaurant dinner they might make some sense. Isn't there anything more boring and offensive than sitting across from someone who talks on their phone nonstop?

I think the guy has a great sense of humor and used it to get his point across.

This sounds like my ex husband but with a sense of humour attached! Still.......I wouldn't appreciate this, I get it is a joke (maybe) however, do not think I would be with him after this!

That Gracie response is the worst kind of person next to the super religious.

I think he's joking but if he was serious I would be mad. He could just ask instead of tell

Did she actually go with this idiot? She needs to DTMFA. He's not ready to associate with girls. Maybe he could take his action figures.

I'm shocked that this guy even has a girlfriend. And that he leaves his parents' basement.

All right, but how on Earth is she going to know which one is the MAIN character? In this movie? He must have been talking about some other movie, or he has no idea what he is talking about. Just saying.

What's all this thing about "12-year-olds" recently? To us adults it might sound funny because we remember ourselves back then, but I noticed not all 12-year-olds appreciate these kind of generalisations as jokes.
