Mother Shares Brutally Honest Overnight Time-Lapse Video

“Parenting doesn’t end when the sun goes down.” These are the words of a Social influencer and a mom-of-three Melanie Darnell.

Melanie gained her following by sharing her experiences of how to be a great mom and stay fit at the same time. Currently, she has over 87k followers on Instagram and lately the number has been rapidly growing because of one video she shared that close to every parent was able to relate.

After 10 months of waking up tired, Melanie decided to do an experiment. She duct taped a camera to the ceiling above her bed and filmed her night.

The video reveals the reality of parenting – you are never done parenting and if the baby needs you, you don’t have a choice but to get up and attend your child.

Many people loved the honesty of the video and the message that Melanie shared. “My hope was moms around the world could take comfort in knowing at the very same middle-of-the-night moment each of us is cradling our babies in the dark of our homes, together in this shared experience of motherhood.”

You can find the brutally honest video below.

Currently, she has over 87k followers on Instagram and lately the number has been rapidly growing and it’s all due to a video she recently shared

After 10 months of waking up tired, Melanie decided to do an experiment

She duct taped a camera to the ceiling above her bed and filmed her night

The video showed how the night went

The 10-month-old baby barely slept at all that night and in the middle of it, a 2-year-old needed attention due to an ear infection she had

So it’s no surprise that in the morning Melanie was tired

I don't get it. Why are so many new parents today acting like they invented parenthood? Parents have been sleep deprived for millions of years, get over yourselves, people.

It's more about the fact that there's so much parent shaming about different ways to raise your kids that more parents are posting about the actual struggles of parenthood instead of acting like everything is picture perfect.

I can make the same video with some cats. The trick is not to let them into your bedroom.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Secondly when your 2 year old is having nightmares or anything you can't ignore any of it.

co-sleeping as their proponents and opponents and is a personal decision. It is not neccesarily a bad idea, but ensuring that you are well rested enough to be a good parent at the next day surely is a strong argument.

As a mother of two I can say: this is a perfectly normal night. And a quiet one. No one vomited in the bed. Had worse nights. You'll get used to it.

Where is the father? Why isn't he helping out? She can't clock out from being a mother, but he can clock out from work. Why isn't he helping with at least one child?

I don't want to be the person who mentions it, but the better word choice instead of "sleeped" (which isn't a word, by the way) would be "slept". "Slept", as most of us know, is the past tense version of "sleep". Nice proof reading, BoredPanda!

WERE'S DADDY? And does she have memory problems? She doesn't remember doing all these things? If not, those kids could be in danger - ie falling off the bed while she goes for the other kid. Walking around half asleep and falling over said kid when she returns to bed?

I wonder how many people realize that having babies is going to totally change their lives, every single aspect of it. I think if they did, many would perhaps decide that having babies might not be their thing. Why do so many people need to make babies anyways? Is it an ego thing? To pass on their genes or family name? I knew at a very young age, that having kids was not for me and I took steps to insure that would never happen. Not out of selfishness but knew I wanted to travel the world, have a career and experience more out of life than raising a family. I have never regretted that decision and wish more people would take a good hard look at their life goals before popping out kids, esp those who cant afford them. I know this prob. wont be appreciate but then again, it is just my opinion and my life choices. I would never preach this to others, it's just my thoughts on it.

Sorry, but while parenting is difficult, it is not a job, and “social influencer” (ugh) only makes we want to withhold the attention you so desperately crave by skipping the video and jumping straight to making snarky comments at the bottom of your ‘article’. I do feel better now...

These kids don’t have beds of their own? How did she even get pregnant the second time if she insists on infantilizing her children to the point where they will never develop any independence at all? Privacy is a human right. Kids that are raised to never be out of body contact with their mothers (this child abuse is called “attachment parenting”) end up unable to make social contact or bond with people other than their mothers. ... Their mothers are raising them to be insecure, frightened of everything, and mentally ill.

Plus you are wrong with your last sentence - researches proof that being close with out chilren does not makes them "insecure, frightened of everything, and mentally ill." Actually, it's the opposite. Just read up about "attachment parenting"
