Mother Rabbit Fights Big Black Snake To Protect Its Baby Bunnies
A mother rabbit defending her babies from a snake was captured in this adrenaline-filled video. Children are heard encouraging the brave rabbit in the background, “Go, Mr. Bunny! Kill that snake!” while another shouts “Bite it! Bite it!” The video was posted online June 18th by Ramakanth Peechara; the location of the attack is unknown. David A. Steen, a snake expert, told The Dodo that the snake was a nonvenomous black rat snake.
Rabbits are prey animals, so mothers avoid spending their time close to their young other than to nurse them. A nest of baby rabbits without a mother close by does not mean that they are orphans! If you want to make sure the bunnies are OK, check them in the morning and see if they are warm and round-bellied. This means that they are being cared for and the mother is probably alive. It is a myth that rabbits will abandon their babies once humans have touched them.

Share on FacebookThe mother rabbit has a very interesting fighting technique. First time I see a rabbit fighting.
Their hind feet are their strongest "weapon". Like Thumper from Bambi. The faster they hit, the more damage they cause. And she wasn't kicking, she was actually trying to rip the snake's scales as well as bite through it, which would've been successful if she had a longer amount of time. Also, she's trying to stay alive herself. That is how rabbits and bunnies fight. Though, males are a little more successful.

Load More Replies...WOW! This bunny doesn't know what the fear is. In the end of the video I thought that this snake finally have bitten it, but everything is ok. No bites.
The love of a mother knows no bounds. No matter if its human or animal.
Load More Replies...I'm not sure the other one was dead. It was frozen in shock. However it was brave of the mother, but I did have some sympathy for the snake. It was hungry and just doing what a snake does.
The snake wasn't poisonous so the bunnies are probably O.K but too scared to move
thank you for not making a vertical video! We need more people like you.
Funny. People are concerned for the bunnies but then continue eating meat and drinking milk within hours never thinking about that animal or the life it had.
Why do you assume that those who eat meat do not consider the life of the animal? So many vegans/vegetarians are so arrogant. I was a veg for over 25 years but had to begin adding meat to my diet a few years ago when I became allergic to soy and peanuts. The fact is, everyone's body is different, everyone's story is different. Judgement is also violence.
Load More Replies...We don't know this. Bunnies freeze up when they are in danger.
Load More Replies...This is why I love rabbits! They're much smarter and more complicated than they appear. <3
The baby bunnies look dead tho..:( And the fighting technique is very similar to cats- they also bite, grab with front legs, while kicking with the hind legs, which have more power
The baby rabbit looked dead , too bad. The mother put up a great fight. I hate snakes, creepy creatures that make my blood freeze.
The location is definitely south India.THe snake beat a hasty retreat, It must have been biten at lest 50 times by the sharp front teeth of the maother rabbit. Here rabbits occassionally bite them.
I'm wondering about the babies, too. One seemed clearly okay. I hope the others were just stunned and recovered. I wish the maker of the video had shared the fate of the babies. Love and best wishes to the devoted mama and her babies.
About the 2 girls with the snake. My guess is one panicked over something pulled the other one under, repeat until dead.
What the f...! He just record it without regrets! I know that natur is cruel but I would chop that snake to 20 pieces! Its not fair for young bunies.
Am I the only one to think, why these f *ng people are sitting there giggling with their kids and recording leisurely the poor bunny mom's fight, instead of getting up of their asses and help that rabbit to kill the snake?
it's nature. Also think of it in the snake's perspective , the snake could have been starving, plus the mother had showed no mercy, continuously biting the snake even when it was retreating already.
