Recently, photos taken at one Istanbul hospital’s emergency room made a round on social media. The snaps that were shared by Merve Özcan on Twitter show a mother cat bringing her sick kitten to the human hospital. The paramedics can be seen surrounding the poor mama cat and petting her.
Luckily, the Turkish people are known for their love and respect for stray animals and they provided the cats with the necessary help. The kitten is now fine and no CAT scans were required.

The Turkish media reports that the medics intervened immediately and checked the kitten for obvious health issues. The mother cat was following her baby around and did not let it out of her sight.

Local media writes that while the baby was being cared for, the medics gave its mother some milk and food to make her more relaxed and comfortable. The Turks have long been known for their love and care for stray animals, with many leaving out food and water for them on the streets.
After the intervention of human doctors, the two cats were directed to a vet

Luckily, as Turkish media reported, both cats seemed fine, but were still directed to the vet just to be sure that the mother and kitten duo are in good health.

People on Reddit praised the paramedics and hospital staff at the Istanbul hospital for their kind actions. Some also remembered stories of their own where people helped animals in need. “This happened in my hometown with a birthing cat. She had problems and walked up to the hospital and started to meow. They helped her and she is now the pet of the doctor who called the vet,” one Reddit user shared.

Hell in america they would have billed the cat 50,000 dollars for the milk alone
Plus tax
That's just to get in the door to wait and fill paperwork out for an hour or 2. After you've signed your life away, that's another 25,000. Then the consultation by the admitting nurse about your metal health and " Do you ever think about whacking yourself" another 25,000. Then the 10 minute visit by the Dr, 75,000. and another 25,000 if he has to answer any of your questions. Parking lot - street ticket fees, cause there's no place in the parking lot 250.00 an hour. Court fees 150.00. Bank loan closing costs to pay all this off and interest on the loan, 195,000. That leads to a re-fi on the house. More closing fees 5,000,00 and more interest over the life of the loan another ( 135,000.) Bail and court fees cause your daughter is working the street corner to pay for college, another 25,000 over 4 years. And last not but not least. Another 1000. for a nice pistol and ammo because ' NOW you need to Whack yourself"
I agree thank you and for that matter everyone should have free health ins .
@Brett Connor: LOL! A perfect summation of everything wrong in America.

Here in the US, Trump would have injected the kitten with bleach, pretended that he put sunshine up its rear end, and THEN charged them for the visit!
Luckily US just extend no further than between 2 oceans and in the northern hemisphere.

So you see an article of some caring on the other side of the world and you complain about America? You need therapy.
My sister lives in Turkey. She says the entire neighborhood takes care of the cats because they keep the rats off the streets! Win win! (Except for the rats...)
Probably a lesson held over from the Black Plague. The whole reason the Black Plague took so many lives was because not only were people unaware that it was the fleas on the rats, not the rats themselves, that carried the plague, but there was a fear of cats in Europe at the time because it was felt that cats were familiars for witches..so many of the cats were destroyed leaving the rats to roam free, unhindered. It may be that the people of Turkey know that keeping the cats around keeps humans healthy as well.
There are actually no credible evidence that cats were persecuted in the Middle Ages. And let’s not forget that the plague ravaged a large population of Asia as well, also in which no cat massacres were recorded
Carol, I'm sorry, but this is so inaccurate
It's the black death or bubonic plague not the black plague. There was not a fear of cats due to witches in Europe where did you get that from??
Well...the old Egyptians - where cats first strolled in to - also lived like in a colony with them because they kept their grain mouse free. When the Egyptians realised their value they started a similar relationship as now in Istanbul. In Scandinavia during Viking-time (800-1100) there is found a law text that said that if person for no matter what reason killed a cat he/she had to replace the good the cat had done. In practice the owner held up the cat in its tail as high as their arms length over the ground and the killer had to fill up with grain until the pile of grain touched the cats nose. Imagin how well treated those cats were! As the cats origin is in much warmer climates it is most likely they have been brought back from East Asia during viking vistits there. AND no they were not all brutal berserkers, thieves and conquerors but more of explorers, tradesmen and - hold your breath! - farmers! And in the last role they must have seen what the cats potential was.
Giovanna you can’t just diss Carol - or anyone for that matter! - like that without a follow up! WHAT is “so inaccurate”? Actually she is not!
For the record, I thought your comment, Carol Emory, was true, too. :)

No Trang, in Asia cats were just eaten. I'm guessing probably at much bigger rates than they are now.
Ya, Fill Name missed the gist of the statements. Take it as how nice the Turkish are is regards to stay animals and their willingness to care for an animal in a hospital, as opposed to how it compares to a typical hospital in the US and the problems we face with trying to care for strays here.
what I'm curious about is the rest of the litter..she more than likely would have had more than the one..l hope they were found before perishing..
I will add big pluses for the Turkish people in my mental book of countries.
Thank you I love animals makes me sick to see them homeless and abused they need love good home and food.
