A white dress, veil, something borrowed, old, new and blue - these are all the pieces essential to a traditional western wedding gown. And as with every tradition, there's an explanation for every detail in the wedding ceremony. And though we are all used to see white tones on a wedding dress, you don't have to look very far for an entirely different approach to the bride's attire. And as the cultures and wedding ceremony traditions vary from country to country, so does the unique dresses. Some brides adorn themselves in colorful wedding dresses, others paint their hands and faces by local customs, and some hide their faces completely behind layers of jewelry or veils.
Not everybody upholds these wedding traditions of course, and not everybody chooses the classical wedding dress color, and many people wear what they want for their Big Day, but this list compiled by Bored Panda provides a fascinating insight into the different ways that different people can celebrate the same occasion. So there are 3 things that go on a bride forehead 1. Mang-tikka : This sits in the center-parting of the hair and is a piece of jewellery 2. Sindoor : Red vermillion applied in the center-parting, usually done during the marriage ceremony to signify that a woman now belongs to her husband 3. Bindi : Sticker like dot in the center of the forehead, usually between the eyebrows, can also be painted on - it is definitely not a piece of jewellery!
The married woman in India is not identified by the red dot. They are identified by red vermillon in their parting of their hair and a special necklace the husband puts on the wife called "mangalsutra." As well as special wedding bangles called a "chura"
Guys the red dot is bindi. A bindi can be of many types from a simple red dot to a designer made, but on wedding it is emphasized to be in red color only, as it signifies that a woman is married and her husband is well alive.
Please get your information right. Red dot on the middle of the forehead is something EVERYONE wears, it's right on the widow's peak that signifies marriage. And it's not all north, it's all of the country. The outfits in this picture are native to the north, yes. But every state has its own outfit. India is, after all, a country that was once 300 different kingdoms that were united to fight against the British.

Actually, that red dot doesn't denote being married. When you get married you use a sindoor, not a bindi. A sindoor signifies you're married. A bindi implies you have style.
I think the red dot here talked about is the sindoor which the husband puts on the wife's forehead... near the hairline as a symbol of "being married". Bindi on the other hand is also considered a legit symbol of being married but it can also be worn by any woman/girl irrespective of age.. so technically in that sense, it is type of a jewellery.
Bindi can be worn by even unmarried women. Sindoor is rather a definite marker of a married woman, everyone may not wear it though
Here in south non married woman wear something that looks like a sindhur, so sindur isn't a definite mark... :)

The example photo of Mongolian bride not matches the truth. Inner Mongolia is the one province of China even though they were before Mongolian land and population. Those culture dramatically changed even in dress colour. So if you decided to write a piece of writing, you have to do research. Finally, you have to be with the well-rounded knowledge, if you work on the medium.

The example photo of Mongolian bride not matches the truth. Inner Mongolia is the one province of China even though they were before Mongolian land and population. Those culture dramatically changed even in dress colour. So if you decided to write a piece of writing, you have to do research. Finally, you have to be with the well-rounded knowledge, if you work on the medium.
That's not really a mongolian wedding "deel". And the person is not mongolian. It looks similar but it's just not mongolian. Do more research.
