More Brutal Than Death Reality Of Acid Burn Victims Of Vietnam
Resolving conflicts with acid is crueler than that of a murder. The strength of an acid is to destroy the aesthetics and health in a horrible indescribable manner.
A woman who faced an acid attack will never be married or her family will fall apart and be separated and she will not dare go out to meet anyone. She has to live in fear, and in inferiority throughout the rest of her life. Many victims, though not dead, have to suffer from a lifetime of disability, living in pain, feeling the guilt of physical complexity because of not healing wounds and they also suffer from mental injuries when their communities, relatives keep away from them… They would rather die than live with the dishonor.
In Vietnam, this type of crime often happens, however, the act of the acid attack on other shall be dealt with the crime of intentionally causing injury or harm to the health of others. In fact, this behavior is extremely cruel, but the punishment seems too light compared with the terrible consequences to the victim, so this article has no deterrence strength and enough prevention.

As saddened as I am for this brave woman, I am heartened this photo essay has received 18K views in two days. Most news or photo magazines will never publish tragic and powerful images like these, because they think people won't want to see them. But it's not a matter of "want". It's "must". Many thanks to Nguyen Vu Phuoc, who is one of Vietnam's finest all around photographers, as well as most fearless documentarians.
Aside from the acid.... I think the society is responsible too for shaming her. They make her the offender instead of the victim.
I agree 100% as if having to go through the emotional and physical pain of having this done to you isn't enough, your peers look down on you
Load More Replies...This happens in India too. So often to women who have rejected men's romantic affections. It doesn't happen all the time BUT it is common enough and it's pretty hard to prove. One of the most disgusting things to do to a person. I say the punishment should be something really harsh like a lifetime in hard labor for throwing acid on someone. IT'S ATTEMPTED MURDER for god's sake.
Acid, 'Honorkillings', setting women on fire (in India), mutilation of pretty much any body part, rape, endless beatings and torture. There is so much violence against women in the world, women who are already at the bottom of the social ladder there and have done absolutely nothing to deserve it. It makes me despair, sometimes.
Thank you for these pictures. These poor women. But we cant forget about the men and children who are also victims. The people responsible for these attacks should feel immense guilt every day, and should be punished for their actions. Much love to all the victims. Love and encouragement. Thank you again for the pictures and for your love!
Absolutely horrible that people are capable of such disgusting deeds
Saddest pain. That anyone would take steps to create a pain so lasting and defining for another human being. ohhh karma comin for you.....
So heartbreaking. We will all wear scars but it just breaks my heart that I can still see these women's beauty and at the same time, their pain. They had so much taken from them and it's not fair nor right. If I hope for anything it's that they will find justice in equal measure.
So the assault remains unpunished? They put people in jail for so much less, yet there are real monsters lurking free.
They always know who did that. Why not "eye for an eye" as a law for acid attacks?Other psychopaths would think twice in the future
Because it doesn't actually work. If that approach worked, history would've shown it.
