Monkey Adopts A Puppy, Defends It From Stray Dogs, And Lets It Eat First

Earlier this month, a rhesus macaque monkey adopted an adorable puppy in Rode, India. After watching the monkey defend the little dog from strays, the locals were so impressed that they set out food for the two unlikely friends. To everyone’s surprise, the caretaker monkey was so compassionate that it even let the cute puppy eat first!

“People who have seen the two adorable animals spoke of their strong mutual affection and described this animal friendship as the most caring thing in the world — to take care of a puppy in danger and protect him like a parent,” reports Zee News. “The undying affection of these two animal friends gives us a valuable lesson about relationships.”

Lutetia Vollentine, do you not know how to use google before you post a comment claiming to know something? Grapes ARE poisonous to dogs and cause them to go into kidney failure. You sound like an idiot claiming to know something and calling someone a name for not knowing when you are the one who is wrong, you are the “idiotic dimwit” lol. Your a sad pathetic person. India is one of the worst places to be a stray puppy. There are worst things that could happen to this pup than being adopted by a monkey. Maybe after the monkey moves on, a rescue organization will pick him up, since he's a little celebrity now.

It’s quite the opposite actually, I stayed in South Goa recently, the stray dogs there have their own little patches of the beach and everyone respects them. They come into some of the beach bars and will sleep at your feet and the nobody minds. The locals and tourists give them food sometimes but they don’t beg for it, they are lovely well mannered dogs ❤️

They need each other, and many sentient beings are not as simple minded as we humans think they are. This is not an unusual thing to happen. A lioness adopted a baby gazelle, a horse adopted a baby goat, a dog adopted an owl, a huge gorilla adopted a little kitten...and the list goes on and on. Often mothers missing their deceased babies will do this. We are all so much alike, but I think we have been taught we aren’t in order to maintain some ‘emotional’ distance between us and them, so we can do terrible things to them, including eating them, and feel no remorse because, after all, they are just stupid unfeeling animals. I think it shows us that animals have a heart and a mind no matter what kind of animals they are or person they have compassion and understanding and they love each other that's about God put animals on this Earth for and for whatever people believe in Buddhist God or all Hindus I think sometimes people come back as animals to teach other animals a lesson in life to care and love each other I love cats I have five cats I live in a one-bedroom apartment in Texas the cat outside kind of claimed us and we've been feeding her and taking care of her Elizabeth for the last couple years now she can be cantankerous little kitty my for kitties and look at out of her head out the window and they loved her from a distance but we love her too animals know who will be good to them in Carmel will be good to the people that are good to the animals and feed them and take care of them love will turn around for them

This wonderful monkey just like all other sentient beings like her obviously are compassionate, caring, loving and know the difference between right and wrong. Yet we the human species pretend to be better? Please note: when we eat, wear, use animal products we create, support, promote, encourage and allow violence towards animals, pollution, deforestation, hunger, wild life extinction and diseases. Please watch on YouTube: Best speech ever, Cowspiracy, Forks over knives, Take meat off the menu, Earthlings to learn more. Thanks.XO

The pup is going to need his vaccinations pretty quickly and how are they going to be able to take the pup from the monkey for just that short time that it takes, without too much trauma to either of them?

I hope the monkey doesn't take it high up a tree and let it go, expecting it to climb.

This is so sweet and cute. I wish a shelter would adopt the two of them so they could live out their lives together. That’s one cute puppy and a sweet caring monkey. Please someone step up to the plate. Where are these animals?

What a great story, something I would have liked to have seen with my own eyes. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Its actually not good, a man from the town who sees the monkey and pup said monkey is starving the dog. Monkeys are known to steal others babies to have one of their own.

Thanks.XO
