“Every Woman’s Fantasy”: People Online Are Cracking Up At This Resurfaced Calendar From The ‘80s Featuring Handsome Men Doing Various Chores (11 Pics)
There comes a moment in people’s lives where it becomes extremely interesting to see how our parents and grandparents used to live when they were our age or even younger, what were their hobbies, or what funny things they used to come up with. Having this in mind, one Twitter user @fabiansociety decided to share his findings with others online. These included some pictures from a beefcake calendar dated back in the 1980s. What made it extraordinary was the fact that this calendar was created by his mom and her sisters, who showed how a simple yet daring idea can turn into something professional-looking and hilarious even after many years.

One Twitter user decided to share a project that his mom and her sisters were working on back in the ’80s

The man started his now-viral thread with 61K likes by stating that back in the ‘80s, his mom and her sisters made a calendar called “Every Woman’s Fantasy”. This calendar featured various good-looking men doing household chores such as washing dishes, vacuuming, folding laundry, ironing clothes, cleaning windows, etc. The very first page of the calendar of the year 1988 stated that it portrays “Real men doing what real women wish they’d do.”

The man decided to share some of the details on how the women pulled together such a nice-looking calendar

In the thread, the man revealed more details about this calendar. Despite it looking like a professionally made publication ready to be distributed for the masses, it was actually created by his mom and her sisters who also received some help from their mom. It was shared that the men in the calendar were “randomly” approached by them, later revealing that some men in the pictures were in fact models, but they mainly invited good-looking men who weren’t actual models, so that the calendar would also feature some “regular hot dudes.”

The women did everything by themselves, using all the things that they had in their home

It all started as a simple project where the women did everything by themselves: trying to find the right men, setting the scenes, and finding the needed props, with their mom, the Twitter user’s grandmother, taking pictures. Later she was “promoted” to a director and given her own director’s chair.

The man even revealed how the women were able to find models for their calendar

In order to find men suitable for this project, they even made professional cards and handed them to men, so that they could come and try their luck. Even though this project didn’t take off to extent that these calendars were sold in numerous copies, it seemed to be a fun activity for the women at that time and a great thing to remember now. According to the Twitter user, what he learned from this story is that you can do whatever you want as long as you have your mind set on it, without having much experience or a lot of additional perks.

Despite being approached by some professional models, the creators wanted them to be ordinary yet good-looking men

This story made a lot of people online curious and invested. Some even remember seeing this calendar somewhere, and one Twitter user even recognized his uncle in one of the pictures. What is also important is that this shared memory sparked a debate online on how the roles of men and women were seen and are seen to this day. A lot of people shared their own experiences of how household chores are divided in their homes.

Share on FacebookThe men filing a complaint with HR after the women in the office put this calendar up next to their Playboy calendar is just... ugh. Did they see the irony even a little?
I'm not sure when it was published but I found, purchased, and gifted to my mother a book titled something along the lines of "pornography for discerning women of great taste" that was pretty much all photos of men in various states of dress doing everyday chores. She is incredibly conservative and extremely religious so the look of shock on her face before she actually opened it was pure gold. This post brought back that memory and seriously made my day. *chef's kiss* to the OP

Load More Replies...Those are not "Ugly Sweaters". They are Dr Huxtable sweaters. Before we knew Bill was a predator, his beloved sweaters were a Dad Must Have
They could reprint it now & it would sell out. I’d buy one. Actually, I’d buy a couple. That’s a quality white elephant gift if I ever saw one. The best part of this is the story. The 80s were so; no told us we couldn’t, so we did.

Load More Replies...I love this! What a great project and so many men interviewed and interested. AWESOMENESS! I am happy to say that my man has always and still helps with every chore in our home. He actually does a little more than me because I own a business and am back in school at 43 years old. I still help a lot. We do cleaning throughout the week and have the weekends to relax and enjoy life.

For everyone who loved this article, may I suggest the movie Calendar Girls?
I'm still confused about the "ugly sweaters" comment. They looked fine to me. Why do so many people have to mock anything that is not perfectly according to their taste?
I absolutely love the forward thinking of your mom and aunts. I grew up in the 80s and never, ever would my dad be caught doing any of these "womanly chores". My husband however wasn't above doing any chores. Perhaps your women folk were part of the reason for this. Thank you for sharing.
In those pre-interwebs days, marketing something like this was pretty difficult. Unless you found a publisher who already had a n established distribution system you had limited options. I think today it might sell except that almost no one uses paper calendars anymore.
Why does the font of the front of the calendar remind me of something? Can't place it...
"It is all possible if you set your mind to it" And if you have money to print cards, rent spaces, hire people, pay models etc...
Why the downvotes? Debbie is quite right! Without that and the professional photographer, it would not have gone well.
