This Mom Had Enough Of Seeing Only Short-Shorts For Girls, So She Came Up With A Brilliant Business Idea
A woman named Sharon Choksi got so fed up with not being able to find clothes for her daughter that would not be short, tight and pastel, she decided to come up with her own clothing line. This is how in 2013 Girls Will Be was born – clothes that empower girls to do whatever the heck they want and celebrate their personality. “There is definitely more than one way to be a girl – and it doesn’t have to always involve pink and sparkles,” says the company’s website.
Choksi says she got her inspiration from her daughter and niece, Maya and Grace, who wanted clothes that wouldn’t be frilly, “nothing with bows” and absolutely “NO sparkles.” The girls were interested in “climbing trees, building LEGO creations, and playing with cars and trucks”.
Meanwhile, for research purposes, Choksi collected boys and girls clothes from 10 of the biggest clothing stores that were made for kids of approximately the same age. It showed that compared to boy’s clothes, girl’s shorts are a third of the length, the shirts are three inches thinner and the sleeves are shorter.
Choksi started offering girl shorts and other clothes that were comfortable and ready for action- and this ‘no girlie-girl’ approach proved to be a success.

Share on Facebook"no sparkles" Totally agree!!!!!! In this world full of princesses we have the right to be batman :)
Great product line!!!! Wish this was around years ago. I know many girls that had to wear boys basketball shorts because of the length
When I was their age, I was an absolute tomboy, loved to climb trees, bike, play in the woods, etc and I would have loved to have something to wear other than tiny shorts and girly blouses! "No pink, no sparkle": YESSS!!!
Load More Replies...All I can say is - Hell Yes. Finally something for all girls. I definitely liked a bit of both as a kid but sometimes girly things are 'too pretty' and you don't want to ruin them climbing trees and playing around. They look so comfy and I'm loving all the pockets!
Yeah, the pockets are great, a person like me always need some more, but modern girl clothes don't seem to have any!
Load More Replies...Why are girls' clothes 1/3 shorter than boys'? Glad she created this line. Girls need more options.
So I'm not the only "weird" girl who loves climbing trees and hates bows and sparkles! Nice job, Sharon Choksi, I should really look out for your line of clothes!
You're not weird. You're resisting the gendering and sexualizing of women society feeds us. Good for you!!
Load More Replies...I probably get dislikes for this, but although I think this is a great idea, I have many shorts, t-shirts etc. that are the same length as my brothers, not frilly, sparkley have bows on them and they're from the girls section!
Thats awesome you have a source for that sort of thing! I think it is hard to find in general so there definitely needs to be more brands available for people and availability needs to be more widespread.
Load More Replies...Love that their shorts have good sized pockets!!! And that they could probably wear them to school without getting "dress coded". I prefer a more feminine look myself, but I still like pockets and modesty.
Some of my sister's favourite dresses are feminine, passe-partout and have pockets! :D
Load More Replies...This is great! Girls need clothes that enable their physicality without exploiting their sexuality. Love.
As a tomboy growing up, I wish this was available when I was a child. I shopped in the boy's section a lot from ages 8-12. Great idea!
But what's wrong with shoppin in the boy's section? To me, these look like regular boy's clothes, just labeled for girls...
Load More Replies...Sadly its not just kids clothes. I used to work in an outdoor clothing store, and the amount of pink womens clothing was ridiculous. Even the women's hiking boots had pink on them somewhere. We got complaints about it all the time. What women want to wear pretty pink all the time when they are hiking and travelling 😣
Maybe try buying serious brands? None of my hiking books have pink on them. I actually like pink and purple though.
Load More Replies...Same sentiments with those kids when i was young. Hate the ribbons, sparkles and such.
way to go! i love the more gender neutral approach...i also have a hard time finding clothes for my boys that aren't all vehicles and dinosaurs. maybe someone can start a clothing line for boys that includes pastels and ANY other graphics besides vehicles and dinosaurs
Or sports. Seriously. It's almost impossible to find non-sports themed stuff for my middle school aged boy.
Load More Replies...These girls are going to be so pissed off when they grow up to discover the decent pockets they'd gotten used to in their youth have disappeared and fashion retailers try to trick them constantly with faux pockets or pockets too small to fit anything but a quarter and maybe a hair elastic in lol but honestly? This is still awesome. Way to go, mom! ;)
True. But I hope society and fashion trends will change by the time they grow up. Even if there be no changes by then, we NEED a mass of pissed young women, thanks to whom things will improve. ♥
Load More Replies...the "reason" girls and womens clothing is shorter and smaller than boys/mens is because of the need to start sexualizing us from birth on....there are bikini's for babies...BIKINI'S.....what infant should be sexualized in a bikini? I love the idea of clothing that is longer and wider to fit girls and women who are active, who dont have curves/or want to hide them....and I also agree more boys clothes need to have less trucks and violent graphics because we do not need to make them into brutes from birth either! I like my girly items but I also like to be comfortable.
I agree that there is too much sexualizing of our children...perverted males should not determine what is appropriate for young girl to wear....and I agree what does a baby need a bikini for???? I do think there should be more pink and purple girly colors ...in fact there should not be any lack of colors for all genders to wear....and why cant boys wear pastels? and sparkles...stuff like clothing does determine how one grows up ....if a boy choooses to wear pink it should not be anything but a choice he makes because he likes it...and hell yes put more pockets and longer/looser to make things more comfortable
Load More Replies...I wish I could personally thank this parent! My mom always struggled to find shorts long enough that wouldn't get me in trouble at school, and I was admittedly picky because I started to grow out of my girly phase and was entering a more tomboy phase where I wanted to wear things that didn't look as feminine.
When I was younger, I would get boys shirts, and use my brother's old shirts. And I hate shirts with no pockets. WE NEED POCKEETTTTSSSS
I love the lengths and idea behind this but my daughter loves pink, sparkles and bows. It will remove a large market of children and parents that would have loved the sizing of the products. What's wrong with pretty clothing that also covers children appropriately?
Whose is removing that market? No one. There will always be girly clothes for girls and boys who like sparkles and pink BUT there NEEDS to be a market for the rest of the group that don't want this kind of clothing.
Load More Replies...Happy to see this. It's also helpful for larger and taller girls to find something comfortable to wear. Those petite outfits do not work for them. I'd love to see all stores just have a kids section with space dedicated to all-purpose basics: straight cut ts in all colors, pants of all lengths and rises, basic canvas shoes, socks in all colors. Specialty thematic collections can coexist next to this. Think of school backpack marketing: you can get your basic rainbow Jansport bags, next to the flowers and fluff, next to the robots and dino prints. You don't have to have them split into separate areas.
She hit upon an untapped market. Hurray for her and hurray for capitalism!
Hell I would wear these as an adult. I literally own one pair of shorts from a vintage store as everything now a days just makes me look like a prostitute because I DARE to have an actual behind.
Great idea! I really agree with this, girls clothes are ALWAYS so small, and pink, and or frilly/glittery. and it's just ugh. Really hope this business will work, and that they'll expand some day.
These look like boy clothes, my daughter wants the pinks and bright colors but with appropriate length!
So amazing! I shopped in the boy's dept. frequently when my daughter was young. These clothes are very fashionable. Congratulations!
Fun! In late elementary school, I'd shop for my daughter in the Boys section of Kohls. Cargo shorts, etc. She was very tall for her age and when she left that phase of dressing I was able to pass the clothing on to the sons of friends and some nephews. She looked great and it was her thing. She went a little Hollister and American Eagle, and then graduated to Anthropologie, early and also began thrifting in mid-high school. She has a GREAT look that people often ask her about. She is constantly scoring GREAT vintage looks and while gorgeous, is not sexualized, in any way. People often ask her if they may photograph her, on the train or at concerts and festivals. She generally wears 'old lady' jeans from LLBean. I get a big kick out of her <3 Gabrielle-...bad4c2.jpg
If that's her, she's gorgeous, and clearly by her love of vintage is a very interesting woman. :)
Load More Replies...Why do we even need to label the clothes between girls and boys? At such young age, they have a similar body structure. Let boys have 'girl clothes' too and vice versa.
sorry but when i was a kid and teen in the 90's we had this fashion of sports girl wear the white cotton shirt because it was a big hit , i remember the looney tunes were popular and every girl i knew had a short sleeve baggy (because at that time it was not "female" fit figure cotton shirts) and some wear it with jeans or shorts and it was a very comfy fashion , another fashion was the legging that in that time was a UNDER GARMENT , usually you used when wearing dresses and the military combat boots and i was comfortable and feminine at the same time , bow a days i think yes fashion lines for girls had be come more rigorous like the tops are not baggy my daughter is only 10 and clothes that are for her age are short and cut out slim , but saying that in the past we dont had comfortable fashion for women is wrong because well at least me i used to love the fashion of the 90's.
In US, nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find sensible bottoms after size 5! Many in brand name stores are very short. Too short for school dress codes.
Great job! And btw it works perfectly the other way around, pink being a nice color for boys
Yep, most "sporty" boy in our school's favorite color is pink and went around today wearing a pink sports shirt. I feel like fashoin industries need to realise that they need to make things of all colors and sizes for each sex.
Load More Replies...Totally love this. As a girl I loved climbing trees, riding my bike and building huts. Forever grateful to my parents for letting me enjoy these things <3!! I think girls in this decade aren't that different but advertising & media try to sexualise girls at a young age because you know, sex sells and the younger the better. Disgusting. Go Sharon Choksi you are an awesome mum!!
I hate how girls' t-shirts and shorts are designed. I always wore boys clothes. This is an excellent idea!
I don't get it... It's plenty of unisex clothes and bigger/longer girls clothes. Never felt this problem.
Oh why could this not have been done 10-20 years ago during my childhood!! This is wonderful. As a child I was always particularly long and thin, that combined with how short girls shorts were was a constant problem for my mum, because my shape meant everything was even shorter on me and I got teased constantly at school for it. I got teased because my girls style/brand shorts were extra short, or if I wore boys shorts so they weren't so short I would get teased for that too. This would have made my childhood so much better. I particularly love the purple.
I love it, thank you, thank you, thank you. My daughter had to wear her brother's clothes, she's 24, now. I love the pictures and the words on the shirts, very empowering. not all girls like the flowers and sparkles. Thanks for showing how the lengths and widths of the girls' clothes are smaller, yet we pay the same price as the boys. less material more money???
FINALLY! Why do clothing lines make clothes for young girls so they're nearly naked? What message are we sending? Girls need more options than shorts not much longer than underwear. Now we need these for women. It's so hard to find modest shorts - they're either 3" (no f*ing way), 5" (nope) or Bermuda.
super cute like different color ones? some girls wouldn't want to wear this kind of stuff you know. BUT PLEASE don't get me wrong i think
but i think some girls don't like that kind of style they like girlier stuff and that's ok too the shorts are great but could you make some
ok please please don't get me wrong i'm just stating my opinion (btw this is so cool!) I really would care and would like to wear these
Awesome. I didn't realize that the extreme shorts were the only choices. I have been annoyed that these girls are running around so barelegged. This style is almost as restrictive as a dress, because it offers so much less protection when playing hard.
They've been around for many years. The deman was just low. Like with most fashion trends fall in & out of favor but are rarely ever new.
Load More Replies...It would be nice for all girls to have longer length shorts though. My daughter is 11 and I would love to find girly shorts that are longer.
No bows no sparkles? Yes, it's a great line, but you shouldn't deprive off everything. It's like saying boys can't have monsters etc...
There will always be a market for that girly stuff. No one is suddenly going to stop producing it. But it is about time that girls and women who don't want 'skinny jeans', tight tops, thin see through tee shirts etc get their own products as well.
Load More Replies...Not only that, but they wont be in trouble when schools tell them their shorts are to short.
I love this! These clothes are exactly what I wanted to wear when I was a kid.
For some reason (i mean, i think we all know for what reason) someone went through and downvoted everyone who commented positively on this. Ive upvoted those comments but seriously, wtf.
Yes, this is great! When my daughter was in middle and high school, it was almost impossible to find shorts that weren't short-shorts! So frustrating! Old Navy sometimes had longer shorts but they would sell out. I needed this clothing line 6 or 8 years ago!
I've always, ALWAYS, loved sparkles! That aside, when I was growing up in the 1950s and 60s, girls clothes, or at least what my sister and I wore, as well as all our friends, had appropriate length to the shorts---nothing showed that shouldn't have---and we were very active. I climbed very tall trees every day, and would sit up in the highest branches reading books. We played softball all summer, running everywhere, biking everywhere, all in comfortable clothes that maintained our modesty. Sis and I were, and still are, very modest little girls/now elderly women. I just don't "get" the clothing industry today wanting to make young girls look like cheap hookers, to be blunt.
I was actually looking for an article about why is it that shorts for boys are longer, why does a little girl HAVE to wear short shorts! It blows my mind! I've actually nothing against pink and sparkles, why do we have to push these away? To make a statement that we're not so "girly"? They're just colors! as a little girl I always wore longer shorts and liked sparkles and pink, nobody told me how I needed to be, I was just too shy always to wear short shorts, I was too an aware girl. Not understanding though the sparkles and pink aversion, do add some pink to these design please!
Cute, modest, comfortable- what’s not to like? Not all girls want pink, sparkles, bows, and ruffles.
FINALY!!! I've noticed how small they are too and it's so annoying! I usually would shop in the boys section to get shorts (don't judge me I'm sure others have done it too). And waaaay to much girlie stuff on the shirts! It feels more like I'm wearing a giant sign on me that says "girly" when I wear those cloths. I'm so glad I can finally get cloths I like!
And this, my dear children, is why good capitalism is a way to go. Entrepreneurs will always find their niche. On the other hand, 'girl clothes' and 'boy clothes' are just labels - nothing precludes parents to use one in place of another, especially that kid's clothing is most often unisex by design. P.S. The 'girly shorts' portrayed here is how the sporting shorts looked like in 70's and 80's (of course, they were worn by male and female sportsmen alike). I even saw a Bored Panda article about them.
My daughter loves sparkles and sequins, but hates how tight most girls clothes are. Finding shorts that don't resemble hot pants is near impossible. I would love to see clothes like the sporty ones above, but with the frills she loves too. She plays tennis, soccer and swims like a fish, but there is no getting the glitter away from her either.
The real problem is, people are still buying what the entertainment/clothing businesses are selling. Women/girls look to dubious women like Beyonce or Miley Cyrus as "role models" and denigrate or ignore women who hold more traditional roles; mistakingly believing that having traditional mores somehow limits and hinders them in life. Those who fancy themselves as "progressives" look to the extremes in order to overcome whatever limitations they believe society puts on them, disbelieving that the ONLY limitations that they have, are those placed on themselves. Long rant short, while I applaud this woman's efforts, because Lord knows I have a hard time finding appropriate clothing for my teenage daughter, you can produce clothing that is more modest while also being feminine. You don't have to gender-bend and dress your daughter like a son in order to prove a point.
YES that idea is GENIOUS. what's your line called so i can get something from it?!
Wish this was around when I was a kid. Can you get the adult world to do this too? "Womens" clothes are still annoyingly the same and the size difference is still unrealistic and "designed" by the same people who don't get it.
I would actually love these. I'm 36 but Sometimes I have to wear kids clothes because women's clothes are too big. I LOVE the no sparkles!
@stacyh Keen and Merrell. My mom doesn't like pink. Neither brand has pink accents as a regular feature. Nor does Vasque.
As an adult I even wear some mens clothes. Women's shirts have no sleeves on them. I freakin HATE them.
I'd love to see this move into women's clothing, as well! I can never find a woman's t-shirt that actually has SLEEVES (the little "cap" over the shoulder is not a sleeve!) -- or pants with pockets, or skirts with pockets, or vests with pockets... This is an amazing idea. I hope she does really well with it!
Most schools have dress codes, which include the length requirement for shorts. I work in a Middle School and would love to see these types of options for girls. Pretty hard enforcing a dress code, when there are, often, no other options available. I have heard many parents bemoan this exact problem. At this age, most of the girls are coping with becoming more aware of their femininity and wanting to express it with hairdos, nail polish, clothing and accessories. In my experience when it comes to the bottom line, most of the girls are still interested in getting out there and having some fun, without having the discomfort and worry, of wearing shorts that are too short. No haters please! 🙂 Simply expressing my opinion about what I see daily, at my school.
Nothing wrong with pink and sparkles, but options are good. There is A LOT WRONG with the super short shorts on anyone. So happy my granddaughter doesn't like them either!
I just wore hand-me-downs from my boy cousins and my brothers. I may have looked transgender, but when you're a little girl, thats ok because young girls shouldnt be showing a lot of skin. Why make clothes that show a lot of skin on a 10 year old girl?? So all the pedophiles can be happy??. Girl clothes are binding and uncomfortable and our jeans have useless pockets!!! I can barely fit a stick of chapstick in my jeans pockets, not because they're tight, but because the pockets are TINY. what's up with that?
What would be really nice is if they could make clothes for girls that are both feminine and modest. These dont look femine at all...very boyish. There is nothing wrong with being female. Girls make the best cowboys!
My daughter has always been an anti-sparkle girl, and is practically allergic to pink! Additionally, she outgrew age-appropriate clothing early on, because of the way girls' sizes are cut. I'm so glad to see someone encouraging children to be just that - I wish we'd had clothing options like this when she was little!
i would've actually liked wearing clothes if this had been a thing. I wore boy clothes as a kid forever because girls clothing was skimpy and poorly made. It was hard to ride bikes in shorts where your butt hangs out.
if there was a clothing line that in my area I would wear it I LOVE climbing trees
I lived with this dilemma all my youth. I wonder, however, if this is brilliant only because the girls will again choose this new clothing line instead of just going for "boys" clothing, making it a marketing ploy. How about mostly neutral clothing, and then the kids can choose. The choice is already there. I personnally just don't look in the girls' or women's section.
I love this idea (I have a 4 year old girl and a 2 year old boy) BUT these cloths still look too boyish to me. Can the shorts be longer but have girl print, patterns, or colors? I agree with your gripe. I hate all the short shorts and tank tops on the market. The three girls in the third pic down look like two boys and a girl : (
All pervert designers li Gok are behind all the treating of little kids as sexual objects
Have you looked at the shorts and t-shirts available for women? Its the exact same problem.
http://the-language-corner.com/noticias/como-ayudar-a-los-ninos-aprender-ingles-divertido/
this was exactly the sort of thing i wore at that age. i had to shop in the boys section. such a great idea. kids clothes really should be unisex until puberty
It's about time! I might wear running shorts to go running... But, not to the movies or anywhere else! And NO to Sparkles!
I really, LOVE this idea, I am just sad that it did not come out when I was still buying those sizes. Shopping for me was a chore growing up because I was not quite a tomboy, not quite girly and nothing made me feel comfortable. I bet you will have no issues finding business.
My niece has always been a NO DRESSES sort of gal. She favors basketball shorts and baggy tanks with a bandeau type bra. She looks great, and is beautiful no matter what she wears!
"Girls are petite". Well, I wore a size 6X until I was 12, but I was able to find jeans and play clothes that could stand up to climbing trees, hiking, and wrestling with the dog back in the 1970's. Was it the 80's that made girls' clothes so dainty?
These are great! Looking good & 'comfy' too - what more can a gal ask for?
I agree that there should be options for girls. However, I believe that there are girls out there that still want pink and sparkles that DON'T show everything. How about it? Longer shorts and shirts in pinks and pastels.
Bravo!! It's about time some one did this. I find it very difficult to find clothes for my niece that she can actually run, jump and play in without worrying about splitting seams because they are too short or tight even if they fit when she isn't being active.
This looks like the normal clothes for little girls until the 90s hit and it there was the explosion of short, tight, frilly, sparkly, pink and purple stuff.
From the number of comments from women on this topic it is amazing no one has thought of this before. Kudos to the lady who has come up with this idea. I am sure she will do very very well.
This is so great! I remember girl's clothes being similar in the 70's. I frankly would also like to see men go back to shorts like they were in the 70s but that's a whole other topic......
I never buy women's shorts or pants. The short pockets alone have proven to me that anything put in them, will disappear within the hour. I love long shorts too!
I totally agree - as a girl I hated pink and bows. (Still do as a grown woman). I'm glad someone is making clothes for girls that aren't girly-girls.
i wish i had this when i was younger. thank you more giving other girls a chance at a wardrobe that, for the most part, I couldn't have.
Too bad they are only for girls. Wonder when they will make them for women? My daughter and I would love being able to buy WOMEN's clothing that fit correctly and not make us out to be whores!!!
To be honest... Why does this need a separate clothing line, is it so "wrong" to let your daughter wear "boys" clothes? Because what I see here are basically just clothes that, in stores, would probably be in the boys section. Okay, it might be a bit uncomfy going in the boys section to get clothes for your daughter, but we should stand up against gender roles and be confident instead of having to create a separate clothing line which is basically the same as what they sell in stores, show people gender doesn't matter, girls can wear boys clothes, boys can wear girls clothes, and not only kids, adults too.
Being a tall girl, when you have shorts on, all people see is your long legs. I had this problem as a youth, teen, too.THIS IS SUCH A WONDERFUL, MUCH NEEDED IDEA! Now, young girls can be comfortable, without being conscious, and play without worrying about their shorts riding up or showing parts their little bums. This is something I will definitely support. I applaud this mom for doing this. YOU'RE AWESOME, MOM!
I just found your new company- and I agree and love your in-between clothes. I'm a 60 yr old woman, and have a hard time finding clothes that the t-shirts have longer arm lengths, cargo long shorts with as many pockets as men's cargo shorts, t-shirts that have longer lengths to them. What to the clothes maker think, that because we are women, we don't need real pockets in our pant's??? We should not be made into sex objects to reveal all of our bodies with shorter shorts etc! I will be pushing your company with better styling that fit's more young and older girls. Thank you!
Shorts with pockets!!! What about the drawstring? Is it one of those fake ones or is it useful? Boys shorts always have a drawstring that will tie up.
BRAVO! (It doesn't get much better as women either; they just switch out the glitter for stupid sequins.)
I always wanted clothes like this ones. I never felt comfortable in girl's swimsuit. Yesterday i bought guy's shorts swimsuit and it feels so free!
I even buy boy's clothes for myself sometimes. I am so tired of all girl's clothes to be glittery and cute. Even in Halloween they have pink skulls with sparkles. Geez.
The measurements sketch was a real eye opener, 1-3 skinnier and shorter?, body image pressure right there.
great idea! my mom also had to shop in the 'boys section' for me ... by the sole mention of ruffles/ skirts / sparkles ...my 'tantrum mode' went to 100
That's amazing!! I'm a super girly girl, but like, that's so rad!! Now if only I could find this in longer skirts, lol. They're always so short, or way too long (I like knee length skirts).
i didn't really have a problem with girl clothes with my older three. They were all short like me and so shorts were pretty long on them and they liked pink and glitter. Then along comes my youngest girl. She is all about dirt and trucks, ninja turtles and transformers. And worse, she was tall. Every pair of girls shorts i would buy her looked like it could be underwear. I just started buying her boys clothes. Not like they had anything in the girl section with ninja turtles on it anyway. But i agree, girls need options like this. They rant and rave over girls wearing short shorts, and dress code them every chance they get, but they don't understand how hard it is to find clothes that meet dress code anymore. the fashion industry for some reason needs to put girls in these scantily clad little glitter bubbles, while offering no real alternative for the less than girly girl.
I love it!! Now that I'm older, an so many years ago, I allways buy my clothes in mens wear line, cause they are so much comfortable...even the socks! XD
Yes!! I'm a tomboy and all shorts are so short, girly and anything else I dislike. I've resorted to black leggings. This is perfect though!!
i feel like you could choose to not buy "girly-girl" clothes than make a whole new brand :/
Good idea.... sorry to say.... hate every single piece of clothing. The colours don't go together as the designs are bland and boring
Simple and brilliant bussiness idea! Being a girl,I never approved of pink&sparkles&anything too short.Kids' fashion was also different then
I agree that there should be a wider selection and I applaud her for making it happen, but I have to say, I don't care for the look at all. The boys clothes her daughter was wearing are more attractive.
I wish I had this option when I was a bit younger. I ended up with clothes that didn't fit properly or guys hand-me downs. These are fantastic!
Dang, I wish I had this option when I was a kid! This is fantastic!
Why can't girls just wear boys clothes? I always wore those instead of the sparkly pink girls clothes...
Some of them do, but clothing for pre-pubescent kids should not be segregated by gender in the first place.
Load More Replies...I know Americans (and ppl from other part of the world) would scoff this off but... why not implement a school uniform?
I think they are also considering outside school wear. Can't have them play in uniform the whole time.
Load More Replies...Bravo, little girls should not dress like Go-Go dancers. I see young girls 9 to 13 years old, who dressed like Go-Go dancers. Very short shorts, mini mini skirts, dresses that look like they could be worn by a two year old, plus heavy makeup. Their tops are made that the belly button and all the rest is out for everyone to see. It's very dangerous for little girls to dress like some trampy woman. Parents should explain to their child that being properly dressed is a way to respecting oneself and to avoid any trouble.
If something doesn't sell, it doesn't mean that there is no "market" for it. It can mean that advertising has not been properly done, that current social norms and stereotypes are resisting the proposed change, or to do with accessibility and costs. It doesn't mean that the idea (or 'taste/opinion' as you put it) behind the product itself is bad, or unnecessary. The vast majority of people commenting on this thread so far agree with this, so clearly she is on to something, regardless of her sales numbers.
