It's no secret that Americans do things a little differently from the rest of the world. But, as the first European colony to win independence, they've had lots of time to form the unique identity we associate with them today. So let's take a few moments to celebrate all the quirky and ridiculous little things that make the USA what it is, even if we still fail to understand them.
When the United States broke away from the rest of the European world in 1783 following the American Revolutionary War, a cultural shift began that is still developing today. Though the lands we now know as America mostly share a history of British occupation, tea and crumpets have long been replaced by coffee and donuts. America has given the world countless gifts, such as rock music, groundbreaking cinema, and New York City - in fact, it's probably the most culturally recognizable place on Earth. Still, for those of us on the outside looking in, the United States sometimes seems like a bit of a circus.
Scroll down to see some of America's funniest moments on Tumblr and how the rest of the world reacted. Don't take it personally, though - we've still got love for Yankee Land! (h/t)

At 18 you can be married, drive a car, go into huge debt, vote, and die for your country but you're not responsible enough to buy beer. *Face Palm*
Oh my god, you guys should look up which countries rely overwhelmingly on nuclear power. The US is actually way behind many countries in Europe!
I'm not sure if I should laugh at the joke or cry because this guy is serious....
Except that a bunch of Americans hate Bill for being and atheist and because he tells them that science is correct instead of the BAHBLE.
Part of me finds this hilarious, but the other part wonders if we, as a collective entity, have taken the american stereotype too far
Yeah I live 5 minutes from Freedom high school. Conviently located 30 minutes south of Washington DC in Northern VA. My middle school was named after Mills E. Godwin, a man who lobbied to keep schools segregated. (They recently voted to rename the school)Not too surprising though.
No way, they seriously have that on water bottles? I need one for my daughter, that would be so funny! She's not American, but is slightly obsessed about zombies, heehee
72 years??? There hasn't been a time in the last 75 years that America hasn't been involved in a war/ invasion!!!
I find it hilarious that there are some offended Americans in the comments. :D
You can always count on some Americans believing, still, that this is the best USA #1 country in the world and getting upset when someone dares to believe otherwise.
