I am not sure where you got that, but it isn't true in the slightest. Jerry Siegel was born in Ohio. Joe Shuster was born in Canada but lived moved to Ohio when he was around 9 years old. Superman was co-created by him. Superman was created in USA by an American citizen and a naturalized American citizen. Superman is no more Canadian than I am.

Joseph Shuster moved to the US and be came a citizen in 1924 as a kid, many years before he created superman.

He was created in Cleveland, ONE of the guys that co-created him was born in TO...the other was American and BOTH were in school in AMERICA when they created the character.

He did the wrong Superhero 🤦‍♀️ Superman was a bad choice! He should have done Captain America, Elvis, Rocky, or Evel Knievel. The Superman costume was outdated. The “Man of Steel” costume today is much more modern. Oh well — live & learn. Heck, even Uncle Sam or a Patriot costume would have been a better fit.

I think it would have been weird for a European-descent guy to wear Native American garb. Cowboy or frontiersman clothes would have been ideal.

Because that would be cultural appropriation and Native peoples have repeatedly asked white people to stop doing that. You don't have to understand it, just respect it.

It’s cultural appropriation. The US committed mass genocide on Native Americans & then stripped them of their culture by forcing their children into boarding school where they were taught the colonizer’s culture. They were punished for using their native language, forced to cut their hair, & made to wear colonial attire. We don’t get to commit these atrocities & then dress up in Native “costume” because now we want to celebrate a culture we destroyed. It’s incredibly offensive

Personally, I don't feel a white person has the right to appropriate indigenous attire without permission from the specific tribe (which I don't believe they would give). I think colonial dress would be most appropriate for the US ... or "western wear" as an alternative. And, this superman suit seems ridiculous. I can imagine the rest of the globe thinking, "Oh, there goes the US again. Acting like they are superior to the rest of us." I'm so over the US collective elitism at the expense of the rest of the world's population. OK, rant over. ☺️

I’d say out of respect. This article is showcasing costumes, But what indigenous people wear is called regalia and has a lot more meaning. That, and the fact that the US did not consider native communities as part of the US. Native Americans weren’t considered citizens until about 1924, and not every native could vote until the late 1950’s.

Because that would be such a big insult and f- you too the native community. They are called ceremonial garb for a reason. They are to be worn for ceremonies only, not as a fashion statement. And those feathered headdresses are something one earns. Having a non native wear native clothes would have been a huge insult and mistake.

Indigenous people have been excluded from U.S. Anglo society. I agree that I’d he had sought and received help from a tribe that might be cool, but it’s really difficult not to cross the line.

Yes, the native Americans exist however only make up around 2-3% of America's Population , but they are sadly, for the most part, an oppressed people compared to the average "American" who is likely a mix of European blood that came from late 1400's - just over 600 years ago, or, as you say, are hispanic. I've seen various articles and documentaries where true Native Americans are living on reservations with a not so great quality of life (one i've seen where houses had no running water) compared to the "Americans" living in the cities and such Of course, this isn't true of all of them, I imagine. It's sad, because the modern "America" most people know has no traditions of it's own, yet Native American culture is beautiful and fascinating, and it's also interesting to note that in some ways, Native American culture is similar to the tribes of Eastern Russia and Siberia (since historically, they were one and the same thousands of years ago) TBC

Continued: What I meant was that, whilst not meaning to assume, we do not know that the man pictured here is a Native American or not, so it would be wrong to label someone not Native American as such, and have them wear the outfits (which also differ tribe from tribe anyway, and also can differ by the respect and such earned within a tribe iirc) especially considering that most Americans are in fact, not Native Americans. I just feel it wouldn't be right. If it was confirmed that the model was Native American, then fair enough, so long as they would correctly portray the outfit. But the unfortunate fact is - America isn't "Native American" for the most part now. As an official "country" America is incredibly young compared to other countries on this list, and because of us awful Brits/Europeans near "wiping out" Native American culture, it was never adopted as the "country" of America's culture, thus meaning that the country of the USA has no culture. :/
