Recently, Mister Global, a male beauty pageant took place in Thailand. The event was founded in 2014 and since its first edition over 60 countries have sent their representatives to compete for the Mister Global Title. This year, 38 beautiful men decided to test their strengths in the pageant. The final was held in Bangkok on September 26 with the “Inspiring Gentleman” theme. However, this event is not merely a beauty contest, even though one of the main requirements of contestants is to be 'good looking' as the spokesperson of the pageant, Kitti Kamjunsa, told Bored Panda. "The aim of Mister Global is to promote environmental awareness, and we have been promoting this cause ever since we started in 2014. This year, we added a new motto "Inspiring Gentleman" because we believe that the contestants and titleholders should motivate others and be inspirational people. During this year's pageant, we did a fundraising event to support an organization that takes care of elephants in Thailand and it was successful, " Kamjunsa said. When asked what makes Mister Global different from other pageants the spokesperson explained: "Basically every pageant system is identical but what makes Mister Global different from the others is that we are part of the Top 5 Grand Slam Male Pageants. We have good quality contestants with inspiring stories to tell and great support from our national directors from around the world. We have also garnered much support from our many fans that follow us on our website and the official page. Most importantly, we are true on our advocacy of Environmental Awareness and charity cause."

The pageant was won by Korea‘s Jong Woo Kim, who is a 23-year-old police administration student and model. Jong Woo Kim is set to become an inspirational role model for young men all around the world. He will also become a Global Goodwill Ambassador and participate in environmental and charitable projects.

Same as every year, the most attention goes to pageant's national outfits showcase. After all, the representatives get the chance to demonstrate their countries heritage. "For us, we are really surprised that it went viral around the world and we welcome many positive comments. However, the creative costumes segment is nothing new in any pageant system as it has always been a part of it. The winning costume is not about the size or design but the story and culture behind it," Kamjunsa said. The national costume contest was won by Myanmar, it's safe to say that most of the contestants made their homelands' proud by rocking well crafted and intricate costumes. Right - for those have who their knickers in a twist saying that it's wrong to have a Boer dressed as a Zulu... he's not. I can see at least seven different cultures represented by what that guy is wearing. It's actually a pretty smart way to incorporate just about everyone who lives in South Africa in one image.

His costume looks very functional. It's not as extravagant as the others, but looks like something he'll get a lot of use from. It's like I'm looking in a book about his country and see this pic.

Nice Lion costume. I like that they kept the Lion Head simple-ish and not overly flashy/inlaid with decorative horns/jewels/eyelashes so as not to overshadow the human.

This is Manchurian dress as opposed to Chinese dress - a Chinese Changshan would only have two splits, a Mandarin collar, and no hanging seal from the belt.

:/.... He just looks like an Indian groom on his wedding day, more or less. There were so many historical or mythological directions they could have gone with incredible costume possibilities, looks resembling ancient kings, warriors, gods or statues...this is very tame and a missed opportunity.

It is not satisfactory for India ... Since India is secular and has many traditional costume... Every country represents their best costume... But India it is not a competition to show your sabhyasachi wedding outfits.

The designer completely lost the plot. India is about COLOR. Glorious, jewel-like colors that dazzle the eye. This outfit looks like a dusty mop that was just used to sweep the floor.

People downvoting do not understand. India had hugely diverse cultures and traditions differ North from South and East from West. Even if you pick the style from a particular region, this is a let down.

I would have loved some more color. Even by typical Wedding look standard this combination looks very drab.

You can just stop after India... Really no need to go down and look at the rest, the designers just phoned it in.

All the sad and angry Indians wanting more colour and more flash are missing the intent of the costumier. This costume to anyone outside India is quintessentially Indian, regardless of the dozens of variations or traditional tribal outfits he could've been dressed in, this costume sums up the essence of your beautiful and diverse country. The fabrics are rich and beautifully embroidered, they evoke images of maharajas. The colour serves to enhance his skin tone, rather than overpower it and by it, he looks to be more northern Indian which also sits better for him wearing this style rather than a Lungi. The patterns on his Sherwani and scarf pay tribute to Mughal gardens and may also allude to farming. There is metallic Zelij work on his Turban and Scarf and the embroidery on the lower part of his costume (which can't be seen in full) hints at styles I've seen in West Bengal. You are being overly critical when there is no need. The winner's costume was also more elegant than bold!

It's beautiful but the costume is lacking some bling... the Indian Maharajas of the past had many of jewelries. 0476obg4cq...eb-png.jpg 0476obg4cq021-5d969ded185eb-png.jpg

there's a nice bit of embroidery on the bottom of his sherwani that looks like krishna on a swing but it's hidden in shadow, and the top half looks like a typical wedding suit. i would've liked to see something more extravagant and ceremonial as opposed to fashionable

ok what annoys me with this is - India is a country of multiple religions [hence multiple cultures] - for example Muslims, Hindus, Roman Catholics, Sikh, Buddhism ETC. This here mostly [or rather entirely] represents the Hinduism or just one particular culture

Honestly, as a Puerto Rican. I think they did macrame but not with rope like that, and I also feel they got lazy with this. If this costume was made for like a contest. Lord forgive me, but its f*****g terrible. And im kinda annoyed 😅

While superman may be "native" to USA (its "birth" country) it is not "native" in the same way that all the other costumes are. I feel that using an indian (as in native american) would've been a much better choice.
