When it comes to trivia, you most likely won't benefit from knowing why James Michael Tyler got to play Gunther the barista in Friends or why a super-rich Swedish man bought a chunk of the Amazon rainforest. But on the off-chance that your local pub quiz master decides to ask about these things, better come prepared!
And an excellent place to do so is at "Mind Blowing Facts." This internet project shares tidbits of information about the world we live in and also includes complimentary photos to help these tiny lessons stick in our memory for a little longer. It's a shame such an invention had to take. Women aren't safe anywhere including their houses.
Especially in their houses since most attacks are happening from people we know rather than strangers
Load More Replies...Source? /edit: thanks for the replies. What an absolute bummer that the concept didn't work out, it was brilliant!
Load More Replies...it doesn't exist, but there is alternatives https://metro.co.uk/2022/01/07/stay-close-can-you-buy-nail-varnish-that-detects-a-spiked-drink-15883127/
Actually no. This isn't true. They invented the idea. It has actually never been made, tested or proven to work. I was watching "stay close" on Netflix where one of the girls had it and used it and I got curious so I looked it up to buy some for my step sister and her friends who go out a lot (pre covid) and who are still in school and it's actually never been made. I don't even think it's being made as we speak. I could be wrong but I scoured the internet in hopes of finding some and finding out when it would be available and I couldn't find a single piece of information talking about where it's being produced and when it will be on the market or even that it's being worked on at all.
I looked it up after watching Stay Close too because it seemed a brilliant idea & (sadly) something it'd be useful to have. Whilst they didn't make the nail polish they ended up making Sip Chips, tokens you put a drop of your drink on in a similar style to a pregnancy test or an LFT with a line showing up if it's positive for drugs. Unfortunately they're $12 for a pack of 3 single use chips plus silly amounts of postage & customs for those of us in the UK, making the overall cost of the chips pricier than the drinks they'd be testing! Its a real shame nobody's working on the nail polish any more - although maybe the show gave some clever chemist types out there the inclination to give it a go, it sure made enough people Google the product!
Load More Replies...Just googled it, it’s called Undercover Color. And it’s not listed anywhere on their website, so I’m assuming it didn’t work after all. They do list “sip chip” testers, but nothing is available for sale. Le sigh.
If only the spent their time trying to educate men on not drugging and raping women instead, perhaps they would have had more success.
People know!! But obviously criminals are going to be criminals.
Load More Replies...Can’t mixing Xanax with alcohol literally kill you? It can relax you so much that you stop breathing. People who play with the lives of others are disgusting!!
It's pretty hard to die on benzodiazepines. Sure, both alcohol and benzodiazepines works on the GABA-system so it could increase the effect but you would have to drink heavily and/or have a large amount of Xanax to suffer potential loss of breath.
Load More Replies...and yet again it is up to women to take the action to protect themselves from men. These is a great innovation but what we need is men to take action against predatory men.
I find this story interesting. Since I've found both this story word for word repeated, and another claiming its false. My question is, what are these 4 student names for developing this. If I can't find them and but some how there the names of investors. As much as I would like for this to be true. I'm pretty sure its false.
This is so good. Why not make a simple varnish for guys too? Even they get attacked via drinks... This should be for everyone
First of all, good luck actually finding it anywhere, because this came out right after myself and half of a bar in my home town got slipped ghb in our drinks at a bar one night; and for two, who in the hell is gonna stuck their finger in a shot before drinking it cuz that's what it was slipped to us in was a damn shot - I was one of the first ones to get hit with it, I finally started having moments of clarity right around closing time (2am) after crawling out of somebody's car that knew the bartender that did this and took advantage of the situation once and tried to again after moving his car that I was passed out in the back of - thankfully by that point several of my sisters friends realized what was going on and wouldn't leave my side and got me out of the car after hearing me scream DON'T TOUCH ME - I remember watching countless girls getting CARRIED away - including my sister....... so the idea may be grand but the reality is it's crap.
It amazes me the lengths people have to go to to be safe. Be great if people could just stop raping people. Like, this is great but it is ridiculously infuriating.
Well here is further original research that will blow your mind. Similar technology derived from the study of structural iridescence in the wings of Morpho butterflies. Nanotechnology enabled researchers to custom-build nano structures that refract different colors (including no color at all) based upon contaminants in the environment and to burn these structures into metal surfaces. See: https://pbs.org/video/butterfly-blueprints-efgn0m (towards the middle of the video).
Fake news. https://www.news24.com/news24/SouthAfrica/News/no-nail-polish-wont-detect-date-rape-drugs-in-a-drink-20201211
Thank you guys. My cousin was raped in this manner. An it's sad that this is a necessity.
Simply not true. It should say that they had an *idea* for a nail polish that did this, but it didn't work and was never developed.
Instead of constantly putting the responsibility/blame on the victims, why don't we start holding rapists accountable?
And THIS group of guys is the perfect example of the kind of gentlemen that we all need.
they said it wasnt even that hard, it was merely modifying the strip test ink into nail polish.
So, if the polish thingy didn't work out, but there are test strips, can a woman carry them with her?

I found my wife cheating 7 months after our marriage, I started wondering why she was cheating on me with her Ex boyfriend. She filed a divorce and left home. I cried to my friend for help because I didn't want to lose her. My friend told me how lord Bubuza fixed his relationship with his spell after 2 years of breakup so I spoke to lord Bubuza for help via WhatsApp: +1 984 240 7211. He responded and said my wife will come back to me begging on her knees for forgiveness. I did as he instructed. It was exactly 24 hours after casting the reunion spell and my wife started calling me and begging me to forgive and accept her back, We are happy together now. Lord Bubuza is a GOD on Earth, he has brought happiness back to our home with his spell. Contact him via WhatsApp/Text: +1 984 240 7211 or email: lordbubuzamiraclework@hotmail.com
Surprisingly, going through (and applying) random facts can also be good for your mental health. Experts say that playing trivia games can provide a dopamine rush much like gambling, but without the negative effects.
Even if the actual games differ, the benefits are there nonetheless. Whether we're playing Trivial Pursuit at home or attending a pub trivia night, the basic premise remains the same: we experience the thrill of providing correct answers to questions about lesser-known facts.
We have a similar gang here. They also accompany bullied kids to school to let their bullies know that a biker gang has their back.
"You get a rush or a neuroreward signal or a dopamine burst from winning,” John Kounios, Ph.D., professor of psychology and director of the doctoral program in applied cognitive and brain sciences at Drexel University in Pennsylvania, told Healthline. “I think whenever you’re challenged with a trivia question and you happen to know it, you get a rush. It’s sort of like gambling.”
What is wrong with people that they would do that to the poor bunny?
Actually, I think that cub is eating his leg while mama bear distracts him......
Kounios said the benefits can also be similar to those of playing a video game.
However, unlike gambling and even video games, Kounios said trivia is generally not a problematic habit.
“I don’t think there are any pitfalls,” he said. “Like anything else that’s fun, it takes up time.”
Imagine if other countries did that! It would revolutionise the world!!
Would be even better if they had a social and healthcare system that allowed them a few days off to take care of a sick spouse. After 30(!!) years of hard work that needs to be possible without having to worry about daily income. You shouldn't have to rely on stranger's charity for that.
Sometimes we think of the brain as an endless library, whose shelves house our most precious memories as well as our lifetime's knowledge. But is there a point where it reaches maximum capacity? In other words, can the brain get full?
The short answer is no. Brains are more sophisticated than that: a study published in Nature Neuroscience revealed that instead of just crowding in, old information is sometimes pushed out of the brain for new memories to form.
I know a few billionaires in this country who could take a page from this guy.
This kills me. It just kills me. Gratitude, it seems, is forever for some.
Scientists wanted to investigate what happens in the brain when we try to remember information that’s very similar to what we already know. (This is important because similar information is more likely to interfere with existing knowledge, and it’s the stuff that crowds without being useful.)
So they examined how brain activity changes when we try to remember a target memory, that is, when we try to recall something very specific, at the same time as trying to remember something similar (a competing memory).
Researchers taught participants to associate a single word (for example, the word sand) with two different images – such as one of Marilyn Monroe and the other of a hat.
They discovered that as the target memory was recalled more often, brain activity for it increased. At the same time, brain activity for the competing memory simultaneously weakened. This change was most prominent in regions near the front of the brain, such as the prefrontal cortex, rather than key memory structures in the middle of the brain, such as the hippocampus, which is traditionally associated with memory loss.
How horrible that everyone in that kid's life failed to provide basic information or support
The prefrontal cortex is involved in a range of complex cognitive processes, such as planning, decision making, and selective retrieval of memory. Existing research shows this part of the brain works in combination with the hippocampus to retrieve specific memories.
If the hippocampus is the search engine, the prefrontal cortex is the filter that determines which memory is the most relevant — this suggests that storing information alone is not enough for a good memory. The brain also has to be able to access the relevant information without being distracted by competing pieces of data.
"Just because I am alone, does not mean I am lonely." One of my favourite quotes but I cannot remember who said it.
However, don't be scared. In daily life, forgetting actually is actually beneficial.
Imagine that you lost your bank card. The new card you receive will come with a new PIN. Research in this field suggests that each time you remember the new code, you gradually forget the old one. This process improves access to relevant information, without old memories interfering.
So, next time you think that you can't do anything big because you are too small....
Very few people would have the guts to do this. I hope he was not harmed in any way.
I was fortunate to see Notre Dame before it burned. I am glad its beauty has been restored.
The umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck, so the doc threw on a gown and shoes and ran to her room to help.
And I just discovered that one of my friends who barely finished high school is an antivaxxer who "refuses to put poisons in his children's' bodies" because clearly barely graduating high school gives you a superior understanding of science than that of the people who dedicated their lives understanding how organic chemistry works!
Its so sad the US refuses to implement social programs like free child care and free higher education because it fears "socialism" when it's clear these programs make huge impacts. But there is always money to bomb some poor brown people
R.I.P. Everyone who died in 9/11 and in the years after as victims of the US retaliation of 9/11.

A positive page. Like it a lot. Stop censoring words though. Suicide, kill, die etc are all words that are in use daily in our countries, stop being so weak. If the story is about death or suicide then they deserve to have the full weight of the language that fits.
Especially if the person's life was lost in service of a higher cause eg the kids that donated their organs etc. It reduces the impact of that act.
