Millennials Are Blamed For Ruining Pet Food Industry So They Respond By Explaining Why It’s Not Their Fault
In today’s world, if there something you’re not really happy about, you don’t need to try that hard to find a group of people that you can easily blame. This group of people not only ruined the diamond industry but also beer, napkins and all kinds of other very important things you can’t live without. Wonder who these people are? Of course, it’s the most hated generation of all – the millennials, and this time they decided to ruin one more industry.
Recently, a website shared an article that blamed millennials for ruining pet food brands
In the article, it stated that since millennials love their animals so much, they are keen to buy fancier pet food. This change is bankrupting many famous food brands such as Nestle, which is considered to be one of the most hated companies in the world for its major contribution to pollution and child labor.

So basically, the article is encouraging people to not only love their animals less but to also support companies that make unhealthy food which can harm them in the long run.
Of course, millennials quickly jumped to defend themselves
Many called out these companies out for not being able to adapt to their customer’s needs

Share on FacebookI can't have children...can't adopt...so yes, my dogs are my "doghters", my children, my everything. I will spoil them rotten as I see fit. But don't blame us for your crappy food not selling lol
This is such lazy journalism, I am not a millennial I am 41 but I love my dog with all my heart and want what is best for her, I would never feed her c**p food, its not a millennial thing its a love thing and its not "treating you dog like a child" its feeding a family member what is best for them, seems to be a very lazy article to me.
THANK YOU! I'm 51 (Gen X), and have been feeding my pets good quality food since my mid-20s. Domesticated animals depend on their humans for everything, and it's our responsibility to provide good nutrition. Not only is the article lazy journalism, it's reflecting lazy business practice as well.
Load More Replies...Ok..without even reading the article, I can honestly say this is not a millennials thing...this is a pet owner thing. All you have to do is look at paintings of royalty long ago to see that we've been spoiling those pets since probably the dawn of time. I worked in a groom shop for a year..and the spoiling of pets knows no age, financial or social boundaries. The reason why the leaders in the pet food industry are taking a hit is because people have become keenly aware of how to read labels and realize that they've been feeding garbage to their pets for the last 100+ years.....
My cat is my baby. Wanna know why? Because she is sweet, adorable, and loving. I want the best for her because she deserves the best. I want her to live a long and beautiful life. You're telling me you wouldn't buy healthier food for your children if the opportunity presented itself? Eating healthy can help anyone person or animal live a longer life. Every single creature on this planet deserves a long life. Mind your own business I can buy my healthy cat food from a company that doesn't use child labor if I want to!
Wow. First of no one needs diamonds, beer or napkins, second people buy what they need. and if this is quality food that actually helps their pet's being healthy then that's what they are going to buy. can't see what this has to do with Millennials at all.
I'm an 'early millennial', and I grew up seeing our feline members of the family get all kinds of health issues because of the food that was available at the time. The same companies that are going out of business now. So sure, they whine and blame the younger generation for their financial problems, rather than being pro-active and actually making their product better. I've heard so many recalls for many of these older pet-food companies that it's not even funny. Why would I want to feed my kitty such c**p? How DARE we care about the health and well-being of our furry family members?! Geez.
I'm 65. I was injured as a firefighter years ago and forced to retire. Since I could no longer rescue humans I began to rescue cats. I have seven rescued cats sharing our home and feed an additional eight strays which I have also trapped/neutered/returned outside. I feed them decent food and it gets expensive. You millennials are kind-hearted and I am glad you will be kind to animals when I am gone. Good on you!
I think the author of this article is not only an idiot, but someone who has no pets since he or she (not sure whether "Ruglie" is a male or female name) apparently is more concerned with corporate profit than anything else. Stupid article. Sorry I took the time to read. Time off my life I'll never get back.
My dog is SUPER picky and like a human. Some days he wants flatbread, some days he wants yogurt and rice. Some days he likes it hot, some days he likes it cold. The only thing we know that is certain is that he HATES all dog food.
My girlfriend and I are both 32 yrs of age (yes, we fall into the category of "millennials"), and she had to have a medically necessary full hysterectomy, and to be completely honest, neither of us feel that we're mentally or fiscally fit to raise a child. That having been said, we have three healthy (also fixed) cats that we rescued and adopted, and they are, to us, our children. We want to care for them and keep them as healthy as possible. I know this is risky to say, but I feel that if others would analyze oneself before choosing to reproduce and, based on the outcome, chooses against doing so and adopting a pet instead, domesticated animal overpopulation, as well as negative mental and physical traits being passed on would be drastically reduced, and may even hit an all time low. That being said, if one determines that they are physically and mentally adequate to produce and raise a child, then by all means go for it and/or look into child adoption. Also, I know I'm not perfect.
I could elaborate on this opinion in much more depth, but apparently there's a character limit on comments. I'm also bracing for the onslaught of hate comments explaining how I'm a horrible person. Lol
Load More Replies...Hell's bells, more like entitled companies are mad because because people don't like the c**p they put in their products. I'm from the baby boomer generation and I feed my dogs quality food because I love them (and I have children, thank you very much). Why would i feed them less than I would eat or feed my kids? I've had pets die from my ignorance about the qualities of pet food before I learned to read the labels and interpret them. Yes, they eat well.
I've struggled to get my dog to eat for TWO YEARS before swapping him over to raw meat- he now can't wait for his meals, the bowl is licked clean and his allergies have cleared up- if anything I can't believe people are still feeding their dogs nestle products,! I know of dogs that had pre cancerous lumps that have gone away after swapping over from kibble.
I read the article. It just gave interesting statistics on the market shift. It made no judgemental statements about millennials or suggestions on what they should do instead.
Maybe an editor wrote the headline. It's more provocative than the article.
Load More Replies...My only response to this is: F*****G GOOD. Especially for cats, kibble is the worst possible food you can feed them. They need RAW MEAT, they are OBLIGATE CARNIVORES. If you don't want to feed your cat 100% meat, DON'T GET A CAT. If you can't afford raw meat, the best quality WET FOOD you can find will suffice. By the way, "by products" are not bad---when a cat eats a bird or a mouse, it eats the whole thing, not just the parts that humans think sound tasty. P.S. By feeding your cat kibble, you're slowing killing it. Probably via diabetes/obesity or urinary crystals. Fat cats are NOT CUTE, they are very unhealthy and will likely die an early death. Cats that eat meat will NEVER, EVER, EVER need their teeth cleaned, either. /rant over
They need taurine as well which is found naturally in meat, just another reason not to feed them that kibble c**p.
Load More Replies...very good article. we also providing in india branded foods pet food india cat food india dog food india
I don't eat until she eats, and she eats way better than I ever do. I know what[s in purina. They can shove it.
Feeding your animal decent food isn't a millennial thing in particular to my knowledge, but if it is good on 'em. I may be a grumpy old curmudgeon most of the time, but caring for your animal and demanding a decent product is something to praise the millennials for if that has been moved primarily by their demographic.
Uh, yeah--- I'm not gonna apologize for not wanting to feed my pets crappy food full of fillers and weird chemicals. My mom fed me and my siblings skippy and marshmallow fluff sandwiches when we were kids. We're more educated today and I wouldn't do the same. That doesn't mean I'm disrespectful of her or had a bad upbringing just because we know more now and I don't choose to do exactly the same.
This does not seem to be something a responsible ethical journalist would write rather it seems like one of those biased nonsensical type of articles that are funded by the industry or rather the companies that are being hit, and nestle and other such companies seem the sort that would imagine that this would be a good way to go.
These are the same companies that killed a whole crapload of pets because of poor quality, product control and safety standards. Why would we continue buying this c**p for our pets?
Wow, just wow, this is evil capitalism at its best. Like everyone else in the comments, i prefer to feed my dog food that is tailor made for his size, weight and lifestyle containing ingredients that dogs need and want not bulked out with c**p that offers literally no nutrition to our furry family members. Things like pedigree chum is made for all dogs but yet for its c**p for all dogs and is complete garbage, its is like giving your dog a mcdonalds every day, as i'm sure every dog owner knows that anyway. This generic s****y dog food is one of the reasons for ever increasing cancer in domestic dogs, just like us, you can't just eat c**p all day. Evil corporations, only care about money, they can all f**k right off.
Many of the pet food companies should go out of business with the amount of garbage they put in them. Ash is not food, yet you will see it in all the cheaper pet foods, absolutely unacceptable.
I pay through the nose to keep my cats healthy. If I fed them the food these companies *expect* me to feed them, they would be forever at the vets having serious digestive issues treated. When I became an adult (which is many years ago now) I started to read the ingredients on the packets and was stunned at how much bulking c**p they pack in to cat and dog food. Much of it are things cats SHOULD NEVER EVER eat. Now they pitch a fit now because we figured out they are bulking their products with cereals which damage the gut lining of our pets for enormous profits? Sorry but that isn't our fault. This is something only they can change but they won't because they will lose money hand over fist. So instead they buy column inches in a business paper to whine about how their companies are going down the tubes because we aren't buying their inferior products when they could have used that money to actually do some research in to what our pets should be eating. Idiots.
I'm not going to feed my dog literal s**t to keep crappy companies floating. Crumb is my child. F**k off with your judgement and s****y food.
I had a beloved cat killed by the poisoned wheat gluten years ago so I scrutinize every pet food label. I think pet food executives should be forced to eat their own product before releasing it. But........ The article didn't blame millennials for being picky. It didn't say Nestle was going bankrupt. The quote about pets being their children was being complimentary. Seems to be some unnecessary c**p stirring going on.
Totally agree! I'm GenX & don't get why 'everything' is blamed on Millennials! This is such a great post - s****y companies having to face the truth & deliver quality products to their consumers. My border collie is my baby boy & I will only give him the best quality. :)
What a lame cover up article. I really do hope that people buy less and less from companies like Nestle!! 😡

It is really hard to buy really good food for pets :( Almost all cans for cats contain only 1-4% of meat, rest of it are wegetables (!!!) and oil...
Of course. Millennials should be out being racist/sexist/homophobic and going to war and polluting the environment and encouraging slave labor in other countries and ruining our economy like the Baby Boomers.
You were doing right...until you categorised an entire generation at your convenience, which, itself, is a thing millennials often complain about. Btw, I'm X generation, so it's not that you hit close to home or anything.

There are good and bad ways of feeding dogs healthy food. I also have a cat but I live on a farm so he mostly feeds himself keeping the rodent population at bay.
